Root [CDMA] Suggested ROMS?

Lurker
With all the different ROM options.. Which is the best one? I do and have enjoyed the stock ICS, But am thinking that I'd like to try something different. Will Rooting the factory ICS increase battery life and performance? Any recommendations?

As far as performance goes, you can't go wrong with any aosp ROM (doesn't have sense built in)

As far as suggesting a ROM, it all depends what you like, my personal preference is sosm. Any miui ROMs aren't a bad choice either.

I do kind of like the HTC Sense and the stock ICS ROM. I guess I don't know what else is available. Is there a ROM emulator for windows?

That I could not tell you, Brian should be creeping through soon lol. He might be able to answer your question on that.

Not a Rom, but a launcher, I believe it is called Launcher 7

Lol that makes me sound creepy :p. I don't keep up too much on different roms like don does.

If you like stock ics you might like ZR3D xl. I am using one of his gb roms now and I love it. I also liked sosm but it is definitely nothing like stock :)

Awesome. I'm excited to check out the paranoid android one. I flashed an old version of pa once and liked it. I was too scared of change though :p

You know the old saying, Nandroid is your best friend ;)

is there any special steps to take when going from an ics rom to one of the previously mentioned jellybean roms, or is it as simple as flashing the zip with recovery?

Simple as flashing, providing your not on HBoot 1.58, you might get bootloops, Nandroid is your fresh, back up, do a full wipe and flash. Don't forget to follow instructions and flash Gapps

You might have issues, give it a shot and see, as long as you Nandroid then you will be fine.

+1

Nandroid even if you aren't playing within the system.

Never know when something within the system could start to act funny within a ROM or custom kernel.

Try to make it a habit to do 2 nands a week, never hurts. ;)

looks like pa wont work according to the xda forum. ill just wait and see if hboot 1.58 becomes easier to flash on. im still liking the zr3d xl, plus i just flashed that 2 days ago. once ya start flashing though, its hard to settle for one rom. i had an htc touch pro and i flashed that thing all the time. i better just be happy to finally be able to flash an ics rom without getting bootloops!

The wire trick is a lot easier than it sounds. I was happy with just unlocked bootloader at first but just couldn't help but want to gain s-off :D It's only a matter of time :p

But you know, I've thought that it could might be the root method possibly, since I didn't go by the sticky guide and I've got no problems flashing any, while most here go by it and have to go a$$ backward to flash ics and jb :p

Btw if you get around to flashing pa, camera is broke and in video playback, white tends to be a light blue. Don't think that was in op @xda.

Edit: another release fixing Camera issue.... Already.

Mere hours after I flashed older version yay lol
