Root [CDMA] Time to root is now can someone please help

The guide is pretty easy to follow if you go step by step. Don't worry too much, you'll be fine!! Just follow every step, don't skip parts. :)

You're driving, I'm just the navigator. :p

Just follow the steps, I'll be here if you get stuck.

I'm sorry guys I had a bit of a situation here with tomorrow being moms day and so I got me a full house,,wall to wall family i have a question is it safe to charge this in the current state or is it unsafe because its dying

What state is it in? You should be able to charge it. Either shut the phone off or boot back into the OS.

Hey there Brian sry I been a little out of it sort of laid my bike down a couple days after speaking with you last been sort of out of commission which is more then I can say for my bike to bad we couldnt root what's left of my bike better the bike resting permanently then me my bones will heal says the doc funny thing though my phone survived in my leather jacket this evo has been thru HELL with me its officially my lifesaving good luck charm .I'm stuck and can't move around to good with my injuries so I'm able to think clearly and I think I'm wanting to root my good luck charm here so if we could touch bases that would be awesome you have my full attention as I'm pretty much stuck here couch potato status for a few more weeks trying to heal .I'm thankful though I'm breathing I'm not gonna lie getting cut off can scare a person ,,,I'm done riding for awhile ..well buddy I hope to touch bases with ya soon ,,, your pal Robert ...

Oh wow! Sorry about your bike but glad you made it out okay!

So where are we at now, Robert? What state is your phone in now, and what is your ultimate goal?

Hey Brian
Glad to hear from you and glad you can still help me with my evo I'm available whenever ur able to help me thanks alot as far as my phone its ok and has the like the first 5 or 6 dwnlds that's where I stopped and my goals first off is to just successfully root this and see what is out in the rooted world I would really like to become extremely familiar with this and other phones so as to maybe help others as well, sort of pay it forward ya know ,,anyhow looking forward to hearing from you,,,your pal Robert

brian is prolly the most knowledgeable guys here with the cdma 3vo. you just have to let him know where you need help.

i somewhat get the impression youd like someome to gtalk(or similar) you thru it step by step rather than following a guide. unfortunately, none of us are paid to be here, and we all to have real lives and thus are not usually available for such individualized attention. however thats why we create these guides and try our best to support them. we all do love to help

if you are somewhat intimidated by the link brian gave you, heres an alternative: http://androidforums.com/cdma-evo-3...-how-unlock-install-recovery-root-htcdev.html im not saying its better, just a little different,so maybe it will "click" with you a bit better. it will accomplish unlocking the bootloader and installing recovery and root. from there we can discuss s off with you,but we dont want to overload you with info. just rememer you can eventually eat an elephant one bite at a time :D so while it may look like alot of steps and info, its really not so bad once you get into it.

again, brian is a wealth of knowledge and has prolly forgotten more about this phone than most of us will ever know! so just take a look at the guides, start going they wicheverone is easier for you,and post up what questions you have and we will be happy to help you. just dont take it personally if we cant respond right away. for example,i leave for work in about 15 minutes where ill be for at least the next 9 hours. then i have a couple hours worth of housework and work in the garage,so i wont be back on the pc until 9-10 tonight,os possibley not till morning. brian has similar things in his life. but we will get you there,i promise :)

Hey Scotty
How ya doing? Just hear still haven't finished rooting process allthough I have tried about three times ended up deleting the few downloads and starting over I want s off I got a little confused as it wasn't so clear I believe I was to download cwm installable zip:cwm.super Su -vo.96.zip then go to HTC dev-unlock boatloader and register account okay now that's where I stop there so yeah I just wanna get this done

Hi monkey, the steps to s off are this:
1 unlock bootloader
2 install recovery
3 use recovery to make a backup and install superuser
4 s off

The first 3 are accomplished with one of the guides,so just let us know what part your confused about or having prollems with :)

There are actually a couple different ways we could acieve s off,so we will go into more detail on that when you get that far

I'm in the middle of rooting my evo and I don't think I have found the correct super Su download I believe I need -vo.96c w m installable zip I can't find its the download before unlocking boatloader and regestering HTC acc....thx guys

Monkey, you don't need that exact version, just use whatever the current version is. 96 is simply the version at the time of the directions. :)

we are now up to v1.94 at the same link provided in the guide. here is a direct link for you so there is no confusion:
http://download.chainfire.eu/447/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.99r4.zip

hope that helps :)
