Newbie
I have a evo 3d. I rooted it to custom rom, The rom i used is for sprint. Everthing was working good. I went back and fourth between the sprint and vm. now i cant get my wifi to work on either rom. Is there a factory vm rom i can use to go back to 100% factory. I cant seem to find one anywhere, everything is sprint. Also whats the advatage of flashing it to sprint rom.

Im not really sure. Heres the story. I just got the evo 3d couple days ago. After phone goes into stanby it wont wake up. So i have a replacement on its way. After doing google searches i came to this site, and rotted my vm phone. when it started back up it said sprint. So i have to send it back. So i want to flash back to factory if possiable.

having no luck connecting my wifi with a password. the connect button is greyed out.
att tech was no help. i removed password and it connected, but if i put security back no longer connects. HTC tech was no help either.
HELP!!!

ok went to my nand backup and got it to boot vm. But how do i get rid of all traces of the root?

Well what hboot is your phone? Are you s-on or off? If we can find a vm ruu that might work. I'm not sure if that leaves your status at "relocked" or if I returns it to "locked" after it runs.

hboot 1.5. s-on got it back on virgin mobile. Tried to follow the neebies guide to relock but cant find the ruu.exe. now im in hboot and it says relocked, but i cant get it to boot.

got it unlocked again and booted up on vm. Im not going to touch anything else until i get some advice. I need to get rid off all traces, back to factory. i have to send it back.

Here: evo v ics ruu

Download that on your computer and run it. After its all done do me a favor and go into bootloader and tell me if I says locked.

I believe you said right now it is relocked which is good because you have to relock to run this.

I'm a little confused about that as well but even then one in the guide I saw used this same one but it wasn't there anymore.

This guide

The one they reference looks like the same one I found.

It also says vm which the one's I have used for my sprint phone do not say. I don't know much about virgin Mobile but I. Saw that guide for unrooting the Evo v. Unfortunately the ruu wasn't there anymore so I just went and found it at another host.... I definitely can promise it's correct but from what I've seen looking for it, they all say sprint and I'm fairly sure it's the right one.

yeah i saw the guide to and the ruu.exe was missing. My phone is back on vm now but its still unlocked. Im getting a replacement tomorrow. So i have to send this one back.

Yeah the one in the guide is missing but the one I posted a link to is the same one that is missing from the guide. You will have to lock your bootloader to run the ruu.

fastboot oem lock

But heres the thing i dont see anything about vm. So if i do this and it boots up in sprint. I wont have my nandroid to go back to vm. I have to send this phone back tomorrow. So at this point im on vm rom, but it is unlocked and has traces of the recovery.

Every evo v ruu I saw is called exactly the same as the one I posted including the one in the tutorial. The vm in the name is for virgin Mobile.

I understand your hesitation and don't blame you. This is the best help I have to offer on your problem and that's all I can do! Good luck and I hope that you can get it worked out!

sorry your correct it is the leaked vm v1. i found this out after googling. Download is slow, only 5o%. I will try this and follow the guide. Thanks ill keep you posted.

Yes let me know! I'm curious to see if it removes the fact that you unlocked your bootloader!

The ruu file seems to be right. My phone is back to the way it was. I followed the guide. If i go into hboot it says relocked. Thanks again

No problem. Just know that relocked still let them know you unlocked it at some point.... The only way I know to return it to locked is to get s-off. Then you can make yourself s-on again. Dunno if that's worth the hassle though.
