Root Change Kernel to switch to CM7?

Hi all,

Here is my question. I am switching from stock sense GB with a modified sense kernel to CM7. My question(s): Will CM7 overwrite the kernel? If not, do I need to flash a new kernel when I flash CM7? Flash kernel before CM7 or after? Thanks!

Yes, CM7 will overwrite the kernel that you have on there......each rom comes with its own kernel integrated in....flash the rom before the kernel....so you will need to do your wipe of cache, dalvik cache, and data ( i do each one 3x ) then flash your superwipe.zip....now you can flash the CM7 rom.....reboot your phone, then turn it back off and go back into your recovery....wipe cache, and dalvik cache (just those 2, nothing else) then flash the kernel and reboot....and thats it, your good to go

try the tiamat sbc kernel with cm7. awesome battery life for me with that combo.check it out.

Ha. so much for giving the 'Merged rom' a chance, I think I am going to see what this combo is all about.

+1 to Tiamat. But SavagedZen is also very good. Again, both are kernels are AOSP so do not try to flash them to an HTC Sense Rom.
