In my budget - Ford - 3 in a row and all have served me very well!

If I was rich - BMW - I just like their styling and design

If I was super rich - Bentley - Similar to BMW, I just like the design

Diesel F-350, crew cab, 10 inch lift, Nito Grapplers, RockStar wheels, Kenwood deck w/navigation, big amp, etc, etc, etc.. :)

It's the truck in the avatar..

I'm just going to ignore "Other" as an option and focus on the listed domestics...I'm a Chevy guy.

Seeing as "bugatti veyron" isn't an option  I'm going with other.

Actually on the way back from the mall a few days ago I was like "check out that bmw" to my brother and my other brother chirps in "eh.. looks like a girls car"

My step dad chirps in "for the price of that car you could get a toyota tundra crewmax".

What is it with guys and trucks?

I'm a 22 year old male and Have never in my life wanted a truck for the sake of having a truck... I didn't want my grandfathers truck because, it was what a truck, I wanted it because I learned to drive in it but, that was more a sentimental issue.

Who cares if the crewmax can comfortably sit 4 people and tow a boat?

I don't own or want a boat. I have needed to drive people around very rarely and for the most part love my 4 door yaris..

However, if I were going to spend 30k on a vehicle.. I would get a nissan 370z over a tundra every time..

Kinda bugs me because, when I talk about wanting a sports car I have more than one friend who tells me what a big waste of money a sports car is and how "little" you can do with it.

However, 90% of the people I know who actually own trucks really use them maybe once a year to actually haul something in the bed of it... tow stuff all of never, and get worse gas mileage than the 370z I want..

I currently have a sporty coupe and I want my next car to be a sedan or SUV. It's fun to have a sports car, especially in college, but I really want to have a spacious vehicle now. It's a bit of a pain trying to go places with taller friends and packing a lot of things.

I love sports cars and as much as I want one it wouldn't make much sense for me. A 370Z is just impractical. I can't fit much people inside, can't haul away yard debris to the dump, have to make sure not to go too fast over speed bumps or up driveways (I had a lowered Celica GT-S as my first car....a royal PITA!), and can't drive anywhere if it floods. All of those above reasons are why my next vehicle will be a truck.

Plus I drive fast enough as it is :o

How about a goal of having 2 sets of "$30k" and get BOTH. :)

Now this is something I don't mind.

Set your standards HIGHER not lower.

+1 on sedan.

I actually like sedans as well.. I don't have any sort of "hatred" against trucks.. but, I do dislike that people overlook sedans altogether with a "bigger is better" mentality..

I just hate when "dream car" conversation comes up and people give me of bs about how a truck or suv is the most "responsible" thing to get.

I didn't ask whats "responsible" I asked if money were not a problem what would you get?

Which is why I like FireCheifs point. And to be honest its why a 911 porsche carerra is my "dream car" will I ever get it? No.

Why? I can get a 370z AND a truck that can seat an entire family for the same price... use the truck when needed... use the car any other time.

If you honestly drive people on a regular basis or have a need to regularly haul debris, that is perfectly fine.

My annoyance comes from people who will NEVER haul anything, and 90% of the driving they do is back and forth to work.

Do you really need a truck when your primary use is back and forth between work?

I mean if your primary use for a vehicle is back and forth to work.. why waste the gas on a truck?

My brother "wanted" a truck for his first vehicle.. He is starting to regret it the more he realizes he could save a lot of money in gas.

Sadly most people out there refuse to listen to any arguments.

It wouldn't bug me as much.. however, if your going to tell me a sports car is a waste of money.. you better not get 15 miles to the gallon driving an hour to work and back every day and that be the PRIMARY use for your truck the secondary use being putting something in it once a year..

Which is about how often most of the guys I know with trucks actually use it.

Don't get me wrong people have the right to spend money however they want.

I just hate people who justify trucks and SUV's with pseudo "needs" and turn around and bash sports cars..

At least I want a sports car because, I want a sports car. They want a truck because, it is big and a status symbol and they can justify getting one.

I don't need justification for wanting what I want. I have reasons.. I like going fast and love the aesthetics of sports cars but, I don't pretend I in anyway "need" it.

Now.. don't get me wrong.. a lot of people out there do have real needs for trucks and SUVS. I am not bashing anyone who works and actually does use their truck.

Definitely I understand your point of view. I can't tell you how many times I see people driving Hummers or Escalades to the supermarket and back.

I remember seeing an ad online for a Jeep Wrangler. It was lifted, had a snorkel...the works. Then I saw the words "never been off-road!" That defeats the purpose and whoever paid for the mods wasted their money. That thing was born to be dirty ;)

hopefully ill be buying my WRX this august. main reason I want it is because I currently have a 2 dr cobalt. I wante something 4 dr since I hate having to move seats. I want a faster car which the WRX is by far. I want a car thats better in the winter. the WRX does that. I was contemplating between a WRX, a jeep, or an f150. and for my needs the WRX won out in all categories. cant wait to get rid of the cobalt. 2 dr was a bad idea.

A point not mentioned:

Safety is another issue. Granted newer model cars are safer these days with airbags galore, but BIG TRUCKS are safer still. :)

I guess 24 years of responding to car accidents has me a little 'skiddish' about riding in a SMALL vehicle...

It's physics... The BIG vehicle usually wins...

But again, not 'knocking' anyone's preference. I LOVE a supercharged Dodge Viper, and other fine smaller sports cars. But, as a 'daily driver' for me... nahhhh... I'll take the big truck..

A side note: I am about to install a "hydraulic ram assisted" steering system in the beast.. It will give it SUPER POWER STEERING. I will be able to steer that big truck with ease with just 1 finger... cool.. :)
(not that I would use one finger, being a safe driver and all)

safety is all in the drivers hand too. I know plenty of people who would be better off in small cars because they cant handle a truck. cars are very individual and theres no one better than other since everyones needs are differemt.

Reasons for SUV's and pickup trucks can vary: my mom drove an SUV after she broke her hip in a car accident partly because of the safety (after nearly getting killed in a small car, having something huge appealed to her), but mostly because she couldn't comfortably get into a small car.

Husband wants a pickup truck because he's from England and they're not very common there. The idea of driving a "redneck" (his viewpoint) pickup, complete with a flag on the window (a Union Jack, of course) appeals to him greatly.

As for me, I dig any car that doesn't sit low to the ground. I'm 5'2" and currently borrowing my friend's Honda Civic, and I get tired of having to reach up to drive-thru windows, or worse, having to open the door and get out of the car to use a drive-up ATM. :P

i know my name is caddyman, cause i love Cadillacs, but i was born and raised a mopar boy so i tend to buy mopars (chrysler, jeep, dodge) my dad retired from Chrysler.

my dd is a Chrysler Concorde, the caddy stays in the garage.
