Class action law suite for Youtube app disfunction

Can someone please fill me in with the problems being discussed? I have just tried the YouTube app and it works perfectly well for me on my Droid Eris.

Well, the Eris will still play youtube videos via the browser, so your law suit is DOA. They advertised video playback, not playback via a specified app. Also, you are talking about a suit against Google and Verizon when it is HTC's software that is the problem. That makes no sense (no pun intended) what so ever.

I would normally never say this to another person, but I actually hope something bad comes out of this for you and your lawyers. This has to be one of the most frivolous and generally ret@rted law suits I have ever heard of. Nobody is getting hurt, losing wages or suffering because they can't watch youtube. Grow up and learn to live with some of life's little disappointments. Leave legal action for things that REALLY matter and quit tying up our court system with useless crap like this.

Works fine on my Droid. Sense sux anyway...why not just root and install 2.1? Or at least base 1.6.

You click on a video in the YouTube app and first you see this:

and then next you see this:

Note: I don't think I've seen a single person mention this on this forum: The bug appears to be a little bit random, possibly even a timeout issue. The reason why I say this: You can click on the exact same video, and sometimes it will load and play, and sometimes it won't.

Give that a whirl - sometimes it will load the 2nd time you try it, some times the 3rd... still a bug of some sort, for sure... but I'll bet it gets fixed pretty soon, with or without any lawsuit.

Hello out there. First time poster, long time reader. I've been laying low, reading posts on this and that, often thinking of posting comments, but never following through. For some reason I just couldn't help but chime in on this one by saying to Napster: How in the hell are you planning on filing a lawsuit when on MULTIPLE occasions, you've demonstrated that you can't even f'ing spell LAWSUIT right?!?! What in the hell is a law suite? Please, PLEASE give me a copy of this paperwork you claim to be filing. It's been a long week at work and I could use a good laugh.

I just tried the YouTube app again using a Wi-Fi connection and again had no problems at all. I don't have a 3G signal here so I was unable to try it with that. I have had issues with the 3G service in general but I attribute it to my once being an Alltel customer, as the merger between Verizon and Alltel will not be fully complete until 2011. I have talked to Verizon about my 3G issues and they have confirmed by beliefs, stating that service will improve in the coming months as the merger nears completion.

If the YouTube problem is caused by a 3G issue then the problem is Verizon's and should be dealt with accordingly. If Verizon mislead you in thinking that a phone they did not design, running an operating system they did not write, would work all the time then you have a case and it should be brought to court on the grounds of false advertising. If they didn't mislead you then the case will be thrown out and you will have wasted time and money trying to solve a problem that is being worked on already.

Before you take it to court please review ALL advertisements and contracts regarding the Droid Eris. If at the end you feel Verizon have not lived up to their promises then you are justified in taking this to court and at that point I wish you well.

app works fine for me this is a waste of time imo, if it isn't working for you I'm sure they will fix it as soon as they can.

I don't see what the big deal is. If I'm reading the title of the original post correctly, the OP is simply trying to set up a nice suite where we can all meet to discuss, as a class, the actions we should take to make our phones work correctly. If I may, I'd suggest the suite be located somewhere nice, like chalet in Aspen or something. And I think you for taking the time to put this together; as an educated lawperson with many impressive pieces of paper hanging on my walls, I always enjoy a nice getaway to a luxurious law suite.

Wait, what's that? Oh... nevermind then.

In a word: BRILLIANT!

We are organizing a class action law suite for the failure of the Youtube app service and HTC/Verizon/Google doing nothing about it. Everyone paid for this app and function and this service interruption which is estimated to last for MONTHS will not go unpunished.
How do you know that HTC/VZW/Google aren't doing anything about it? Who says it "is estimated to last for MONTHS"?

Mods, please NEVER ban this guy. He provides too much comic relief for that.

1) I would dare those in this lawsuit to prove that an app you added to the phone did NOT cause this issue.
2) Also prove that you did not alter the phone would be helpful, but I doubt one Android user can be found that has downloaded ONLY Goggle apps.

Even meeting my simple criteria, this legal attempt reeks of fail.

I see a lot of people saying you can view youtube videos via the browser...how exactly do you do that??? When go to youtube via the browser and try to click on a video, it gives me 3 options 1) download, 2) use HTC flash player, 3) use youtube. THe only one that works for me is downloading the video. Then 2nd and 3rd options never work for me. Am i doing something wrong?

Does the YouTube app work on the Motorola Droid? The only advertisements that I've seen that have to do with YouTube and a Droid phone is for the Motorola Droid, not the HTC Eris. Based on the OP's post, he's getting pissy and throwing a tantrum because it doesn't work with the Eris, not the Motorola Droid.

Please let me know if I'm mistaken.

Actually, I do have difficulty with the Motorola Droid. It takes long to upload and is sometimes impossible to play in high quality. It's been a little disappointing but on the other hand it could be our reception too. Anyone else? (I'm not on the band wagon of lawsuits, however)

I agree with Napster(Somewhat)...its getting a little ridiculous that this function on these phones have not been working....Lawsuit???? I don't know?? But, they really need to get this fixed....I have a sprint HTC hero and i pay a good amount of money to have a nice/functional phone...and when i want to show a friend or someone a video on Youtube its getting kinda annoying that i can't.

This is currenlty affecting Eris users and maybe Sprint Hero users as well.

Law SUITE?? Do you mean Lawsuit?
It may be helpful to your cause if you correctly typed what it is you are attempting to do, there is a HUGE difference between a Law Suite (an office suite where lawyers work) and a Lawsuit (proceeding in a court of law whereby an individual seeks a legal remedy)...
