Class action law suite for Youtube app disfunction

Exactly - Oh, can you also sue google or yahoo for not coordinating to get YMAIL or Yahoo! mail to work on Android?

Oh, can you sue the Barcode Scanner app developer because it doesnt always register what you are scanning?
I would recommend getting an education in law and advertising because you don’t know what you are talking about. Google/Verizon/HTC never advertised those functions which you posted. What they DID advertise is Youtube video playback and because of the updates being pushed this function has stopped working an they are refusing to do anything about for the next few months. This multi-month service outage will not go unpunished. The negligence is fully on Google/Verizon not on HTC since they are only the Mfr of the hardware not the service provider. HTC will not be included in the class action law suite we are filing.

This is a good video

Wah...I cant watch this on my Eris, I'm going to sue Android Forums....LMAO

For the record I am not a lawyer but have multiple close relatives who are and after discussing this with them we all agreed to file this law suite. You will be able to track paper work via online in the near future. Our list of affected users is growing rapidly.

Well, the Eris will still play youtube videos via the browser, so your law suit is DOA. They advertised video playback, not playback via a specified app. Also, you are talking about a suit against Google and Verizon when it is HTC's software that is the problem. That makes no sense (no pun intended) what so ever.

I would normally never say this to another person, but I actually hope something bad comes out of this for you and your lawyers. This has to be one of the most frivolous and generally ret@rted law suits I have ever heard of. Nobody is getting hurt, losing wages or suffering because they can't watch youtube. Grow up and learn to live with some of life's little disappointments. Leave legal action for things that REALLY matter and quit tying up our court system with useless crap like this.

Huge waste of time and effort, on your part. But, hey, if getting yourself upset over something as stupid as not being able to watch 3 minute video clips is your thing, go for it.

Why does crap like this always start with "I am a..." OR "I have a family member who is..." OR "I know someone who is..." Its rather annyoing ... and like OfTheDamned said, "leave legal action for things that REALLY matter".

Good grief - I want your life.
If this is the kind of thing that you have to complain about, then your life is otherwise wonderful.

First, I want to know how lack of one specific application warrants a lawsuit. Next, Google nor Verizon have anything to do with it. It is HTC's software since they overlay it with all that Sense-UI stuff. Finally, when did they "refuse" to resolve it? Do you know anything about software design and troubleshooting? Do you know how complex their software integration may be? They very well could be working their tail off trying to figure it out...

I'm with you! Verizon's website only says "fast access to YouTube" Enter your location I don't see anything saying it would be high quality or anything to warrant an issue for class action.

@ napster

Can I get your name and address to file a lawsuite against you for waisting my tax dollars and the legal systems time with this.

Its people like you that take up court time so that people with real problems can't get into court for long periods at a time.

MODS can we have this thread locked.

I don't see what the big deal is. If I'm reading the title of the original post correctly, the OP is simply trying to set up a nice suite where we can all meet to discuss, as a class, the actions we should take to make our phones work correctly. If I may, I'd suggest the suite be located somewhere nice, like chalet in Aspen or something. And I think you for taking the time to put this together; as an educated lawperson with many impressive pieces of paper hanging on my walls, I always enjoy a nice getaway to a luxurious law suite.

Wait, what's that? Oh... nevermind then.

Sadly, Napster isnt the only one with stuid ideas like this ... Google is already getting sued over another stupid "issue" Five Dumbest Things on Wall Street: Jan. 8 | Page 3 of 5 | The Five Dumbest Things on Wall Street This Week | Financial Articles & Investing News | TheStreet.com

Wow... haha, now I actually don't know which one is worse... How ridiculous.

Nothing will ever top the stupid McDonald's coffee lady though... Ordering a coffee, driving with it in her lap, then suing because it spilled on her and it was hot... Really...? Really??

I could envision Napster doing such a thing. Probably Lars Ulrich too.

Our legal system is nothing more than a joke anymore.

Actually, I did a bit of research on this case quite a while back, and that case was not nearly as ludicrous as people think. McDonalds was intentionally keeping the coffee WAY too hot (because it preserves flavor better), to the point where the temperature it was kept at (I don't remember the exact temp, but it was well over 180 F) could MELT HEALTHY SKIN in between 5-10 seconds. Yes, I realize you should exercise caution when holding/consuming a hot beverage, but you shouldn't have to be worried that it will do serious physical damage. I mean, seriously, dude: that coffee essentially removed much of that woman's exterior sexual organs. No joke, sadly.

Beyond that, the lady ended up getting a LOT less than what was originally disclosed. I'm not defending her here, and I am a HUGE opponent of frivolous lawsuits, the only reason I know any of this is that I was taking your exact position and a handful of lawyers with intimate knowledge of the case put me in my place. I'm just saying: if you look at the actual specifics of that case, and not just the fluff that circulates on the internet, it's a lot more complex than you think.

Two Questions for those filing this lawsuit?
1. What specifically are your damages?
2. Why don't you just call "The A-Team" instead? They're great at solving problems. (and they've got a great theme song - an added bonus)

Thanks for the info. I'm glad it's a little less ridiculous than I always thought. That really does suck for her, and I do think that what happened is terrible... But it still doesn't negate the ludicrousness of choosing to place a hot coffee between her legs while driving... So I'm still torn on this.

Does the YouTube app work on the Motorola Droid? The only advertisements that I've seen that have to do with YouTube and a Droid phone is for the Motorola Droid, not the HTC Eris. Based on the OP's post, he's getting pissy and throwing a tantrum because it doesn't work with the Eris, not the Motorola Droid.

Please let me know if I'm mistaken.
