Root ClockWorkMod v5.0.2.7 (file system/recovery utility) update 01/12/12 FIXED

hey hroark does the shabby kernel has int.d?

no it is one of his test kernels

it disable that remote access stuff

and when you use adb, you automatically get su #

other than that it is pretty much the same as stock

the problem with coming up with a kernel that suports init.d

is when you try to compile the samsung source the kernel does not boot

so i think he just made a few mods to the ram disk files, but it is still the same zimage

Until the makers of rom manager decide to add the prevail your not going to be able to use it as it was made to be.

You are lucky you can use it as you have without bricking your phone.
I also have a Optimus M and everyone that has used rom manager on that phone has bricked it.
Granted just like there is now a way to come back from bricking this phone they have a way to fix the optimus.

I'm rather new to the ROM thing for Androids. Can someone please tell me what this ROM "does"? I have Shabby 0.9 on my phone now. How is this different than that? I'd greatly appreciate the help!

This is not a ROM .. CWM is reached ny booting your phone while holding vol up and power .. installing this will allow you to do many things from there such as installing ROms, themes, sdcard maint clear cache and more .. all listed out in the first 2 posts here

And do not forget the most important thing, it makes a backup image
if you brick your phone later, or even change so many things and dont like it you have a place to go back to that will be 100% like it was.

Works great !! First try !! I know I'm always late to the party. No to figure out ext2 / fat 32 storage situation !!!

It's used with links2sd. Send all your apps to your ext2 partition instead of the normal location that android provides. Like normal, it allows the installation of more apps, but my favorite thing is that it allows widgets to work when installed on sd. The phone reads the sd partion as part of the phone's physical memory, or so i've heard.

This has been bothering me...

Part of flashing CWM requires the removal of install-recovery.sh so that the stock recovery is not flashed upon rebooting the Prevail. Why can't install recovery.sh be tricked into flashing CWM instead?
The stock recovery must be somewhere on the phone, so why can't we replace it with CWM and let the phone reboot and have it install on its own?

this is what install recovery.sh looks like, if you can figure that stuff out, go for it

Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
if ! applypatch -c BML:recovery:2048:205dd2f75292d4909a5247fb7e722a309d126b16 205dd2f75292d4909a5247fb7e722a309d126b16; then
log -t recovery "Installing new recovery image"
  applypatch BML:boot:7192576:0d03d14183aa0a6ff812bf2217919fd1e0d7a730 BML:recovery 7c956a958d3e60f53e678e84cee1e5df5865939c 7495680 0d03d14183aa0a6ff812bf2217919fd1e0d7a730:/system/recovery-from-boot.p
else
log -t recovery "Recovery image already installed"
fi

I'm up to trying new things, but don't get your hopes up ;)
But thanks for the answer, at least I won't be bugging myself to ask now lol

And what is "BML"?

The other problem, check that key if you dont have a signed key the phone will tell you its invalid image, I am not sure if there is any way to get around that.

I'm up to trying new things,

your not gonna figure that out, but this is what you can do

edit :: never mind it looks like those partitions are not backing up correctly

DONT RESTORE A NEWER CWM BACKUP WITH AND OLD VERSION OF CWM
THAT WOULD BE BAD
