Root CM 10.1 Nightlies Discussion

I am having trouble using with Wifi Tether, everything is successful when starting up except 'Setting up Ad-hoc network'

you mean the app wifi tether? or the built in wifi tether? Because never once has there been an issue with the builtin wifi tether since cm9 and aokp40.

I have a feeling you are using the wifi tether app and if thats the case then it's not needed. Use the built in wifi tether. It's always worked flawless for me.

I haven't run the nightly yet so I don't know if there is an issue with the built in wifi tether, I just know there hasn't been one before.

Just updated to the 3-5-13 build from M2 in the settings option. and HDR causes my camera to freeze and fc when taking a picture. And now camera won't open. About to clear app data and cache and see if that changes anything

Update... Camera isn't showing in my app list? Shows in the launcher. But not the settings? Weird. Now to find a root explorer and look closer

..... Okay so after poking around. The newest nightly is missing a camera apk

Camera is working fine for me, on the 3-5-13 nightly.

Anybody else having troubles with the USB to PC for thumb drive? Broke somewhere along the line, when I plug it in nothing happens.

That's weird did you download from the cm site or from inside one of yesterdays builds? The zip that the cm updater downloaded doesnt have camera.apk under system/apps.

I don't think a camera.apk exist in any build for JB. I've never seen one before. Usually the camera is in the gallery.apk

Wifi Internet access seems to work but ES file explorer which can access lan shares and nzb360 which can access sabnzbd over the lan both do not. I switched to zv7 to check and they both work.

Can anybody verify that wifi access via a 3rd party app works or not?
Just installed and verified es file explorer lan works for my over WiFi. Add server, scan, connect, authenticate, browse, and transfer. All fine.

Also, on a clean install of the 3-5 nightly plus 3-1 gapps, I do not have a camera.apk in system/apps but I definitely have a working camera app. As mentioned above, must be part of another package.

Everything seems pretty solid except for the lingering Bluetooth issue. Loving life otherwise!

I get crashes on the M2 experimental with Rom ToolBox when in the CPU sub app after I set up some profiles. Causes the CPU sub app to hang and RTB itself.

Also using the "alogcat" app it does not read any logs, will try an adb pull of the logcat later.

As my first post, I would like to Congratulate all the dev's on this fine ROM. Installed swiftly and is absolutely beautiful. Been running 3 hours now with no issues, can't test bluetooth but that seems to be a discovered issue. My very first ROM was using MicroMod777's Spectrum OTA ICS debloated v1.1, which has worked very well. This sites post have made it very easy as a first time ROM user and I for one appreciate all the hard work I can only imagine goes into making these work.

Cheers!

Battery drained from 100% to 44% overnight, a little better than the preview (think it went down to 37%). Only thing running was WiFi. I'll try turning WiFi off tonight and see how big a difference that makes.
Battery does seem to last a lot longer while using the phone, was messing with it most of the day yesterday and didn't have to plug it in till about 7pm.

WiFi is definitely the culprit, left it off last night, still dropped about 15% but solid deep sleep.

Wifi is a battery killer if it's allowed be on while the screen is off. Personally, I always turn my wifi off when I'm not actively using it but another solution would be to set it to always turn off when the screen is off. That would probably help.

Didn't have a problem with it on CM10.1 beta 4, always left it on and would still deep sleep with very little drain overnight. Not a huge deal, like you said there are options to deal with it, (personally I like DS Battery Saver), I was trying to confirm that was the actual problem before I started tweaking things.

That's not entirely true. Wifi isn't the issue, the rom and apps calling for the connection are.

I'm with Nokoko... I didn't have the drain on b4 that I did on the nightlies. There's something different, calling or waking the device more than before.

WHOA! Holy SU jacking batman!

Looks like CM took over managing superuser requests last night. There's a popup from them for anything asking for superuser and a menu option under System > #superuser now.

Also, I noticed today that my GPS is back to not working... I'm sure it's just me, but definitely sucked trying to find a new way home without it lol.

Thanks for testing that, it's a neat feature. When did you buy your phone, mine is an early version bought at the end of February 2012 right after they became available. Guess I'll do a nightly update, uninstall ES File explorer and try again.
