Root CM 10.1 Nightlies Discussion

My addition to the latest nightly,2013/3/17. Flashed from Ics V8 OTa. Runs smooth, battery is doing ok (although I've been just using wifi). Couple bugs that I have, is aLogcat doesn't display loss, running command through terminal works tho, Bluetooth flaked for a min but is working after the Roms 1St reboot. Camera works, no BLoop, AnyCut crashes after naming the Activity-icon.

I cannot Dfs or Qpst the thing, as there are no Ser/Diag Ports loaded from any of the USB connection options.(Even tried tethering). I did get ports from in TouchCM recvry, but still wasnt werking.
Data3G speeds unknown, as I am trying to flash this phone over to Cricket, exclusively CDMA, and having problems getting any data. *#info says 1x tho. Beings this phone seems to not provision OTA thru Cdma but probly thru Gsm. Anyone throw a dog a bone?

One last thing, I don't recall seeing any ADB drivers loaded either. I'll check thru things again. Great nightly! Stable, clean, efficient as of now.

Your best bet is to try and flash a stock ROM to provision the phone and then flash to CM10.1 . You're NV settings will stay in tact which is where all the CDMA stuff sits. You'll still be in the same boat as everyone else that has tried though as this phone just does not like doing CDMA only for some reason.

Re soft bricked my phone. I'll add a report to the official CM tracker, but I think this happened to me on AOKP42 (official) as well, so... device specific? fstab issue?

Settings > Storage > Format SD > Confirm... wait for it to complete... doesn't actually seem to format my card

Reboot > weird blue flash on the lower 1/3 of my screen > freezes on CM (or AOKP) logo

Anyone care to confirm / attempt to replicate?

PS: Able to get right back in via CAB restore (V8) + recovery wipe/factory reset > pwnage > cwm flash CM + gapps

first time I see new bug. I unmounted 32GB card and wait until says safe to remove. I removed and insert 2GB from old android. Formatted it and I can't mount it. Keep saying in notification "Blank SD card or has unsupported filesystem." Android normally can't mount it. Checked it on PC - SD is unformatted. LOL.

Is your phone otherwise OK after reboot?

Are you kidding? I rebooted phone today and it bootlooping. oO. Possible not only formatting SD also I froze few apps that I installed yesterday for wifi tethering. Now I know that built in wifi tether is working. WPA2 password only numbers and no letters. Using CM10.1 3-18. Now I can factory reset.... and install 3-20.

EDIT: Same bootloop. Going to install stock V8. After that I will install cm10.1 and will see if this happens again.

EDIT2: Restored to stock V8 and hang 4G LTE logo XD. Defective phone I believe. I am going to Verizon store and replace it. I have warranty. I had phone refurbished in March 2012. This is phone problem, not system OS (V8 or CM10.1).

EDIT3: Stock V8 working now after factory reset. I thought cab flashing also erases data. -_-

Aaron, this sounds like the same issue I reported just above. Attempt to format an SD and something gets corrupted. For me to recover, I cab flashed back to v8 *and* performed a factory reset. If you haven't already taken it back, give that a try and see if it fixes you.

Note: the first boot after the factory reset may take a fewminutes...

Yeah fixed. While CM10.1 I wiped data, cache and dalvik, all two times and still stuck bootlooping.

Edit: Should we report this issue on Jira?

Am I the only one who doesn't see the photo sphere capability on the camera app? Did I flash the wrong gapps package? I flashed the most recent JB gapps from goo.im.

edit: Never mind, apparently photo sphere app is only installed on Nexus devices. I'm going to install a modded APK on my phone and see how it works. I'll make a new thread for those who are interested if it works right :)

It will probably crash. We don't have the necessary binaries (ie. drivers) for it to work properly. You will probably just get a force close any time you try to use it.

There was some discussion about it in the Quattrimus CM10.1 thread. Believe the conclusion was that it would require extensive hacking to work on the spectrum.

Lol, what he said :p

Yeah I'm just getting force closes on it.

On another note, I toggled the mobile network mode to use CDMA/EVDO only, and now when I toggled back to use LTE I only get a 4G connection for a little while and then it drops back to 3G. A lot of the time I don't get any data at all. I know I am in a very good service area with full 4G coverage and excellent 3G coverage as well. I didn't have any data connection issues before toggling this setting. Sometimes 4G will come back on but only for about a minute, then back to 3G with intermittent data.

Anybody else had this issue? I'm gonna try to flash new basebands and see if it changes anything.

edit: flashed ZV8 basebands and still having the same problem. Phone starts up with 4G, strong signal, then drops to 3G with intermittent data drops.

I always have this issue. Change your mobile network to the one with the most options and it usually fixes it for some reason. Think its LTE/CDMA/evdo/GSM in the mobile network settings if I remember right.

Didn't work for me, flipped back to 3G with the same behavior after about 5 minutes. I'm just gonna re-flash the ROM and see what happens and just not toggle my settings anymore.

Did you use the rom's toggle? or a third party toggle?

I had issues with changing mine back after using an LTE toggle app. For whatever reason I had to uninstall the app before I could get it working again.

Why would you guys want to kill the lte connection to use the cdma connection? Both run at the same time, so it would make more sense to kill the cdma connection for the faster, lte one... But that's not possible because of how the lte network uses the cdma with a link connection to operate.

@Yoinx: I used the built-in mobile network toggle. I just re-installed the ROM after a full wipe and I'm still having this problem without toggling it at the first place. Going to do a restore back to ZV6 and start from scratch back to CM10.1 and see what happens.

@MrB: 4G radios use more battery power. I don't need 4G speeds most of the time so I prefer to leave it on 3G and toggle on 4G when I need it.

If your issue is persistent even on stock, call VZW and ask for a new SIM. That's what happened to me. Once I got a new SIM, everything works well. BTW, for me 4G on CM 10.1 consumes less battery than wifi.

Wi-Fi drain interrupting deep sleep is a known problem on this ROM that's being worked on, ideally I'd like to keep Wi-Fi off with 3G data.

I'll see what happens on stock, but I think the SIM is good. I just pulled it from my Rezound which I had no problems with.
