Root CM 10.1 Nightlies Discussion

Only need gapps if you are installing a different version of android.

Goo.im/gapps has a nice table that shows all the different versions and which gapps is needed for each version of android.
 
Not sure when the power button during camera operation bug was fixed but I am on nightly 4-13-2013 and I just checked. Power button brought up the power menu and did not reboot....

It isn't power menu bug, try letting the screen shut off. That is the bug. When screen shuts off in camera/camcorder, the phone soft resets.

Taking a picture with the power button reboots the phone if it isn't turned on in the options (Not only with the stock camera app, others as well.). Just did it. As long as a button is mapped in options it will work. The phone still reboots when you let the screen time out with camera running. It's like the app is calling some "null" value and crashing itself. You would think this is something simple to fix, but I'm no coder, and with the way things go with this phone, it probably involves some stupid level of difficulty.

@sosaudio1: CM has a script that rolls gapps forward between installs.

@yeahbird: I've looked into it, there is no trace of what's going wrong in the logs. We either need a miracle or an LG hardware engineer to get it fixed. Neither is likely.

Also note cyanogen (Steve Kondik) picked up a review that I submitted some time back that allows you to keep the radio off. This is useful if you don't have cell service. The latest nightly builds of CM, AOKP, and PACman will have this change. To use it, set persist.ril.enable=0 and reboot:

# setprop persist.ril.enable 0
# reboot

Running the latest nightly with v6 supercharger option 7, most all the pimp my Rom tweaks enabled and entropy maxed out and my phone is running super smooth. I can scroll through apps in the play store with no studder, and all my animations are very fluid. I've never seen my phone run so smooth.

Interestingly....on the nightly from I think the 26th trying to use camera zoom fx blue screens then reboots just from opening the app. Never used to do that .... at some point something must have gotten tinkered with that would affect the camera I would guess.

Not sure if it's just that one app or not. The bundled one worked right though.


Scratch that it seems I have a bad flash. Getting blue screens all over the place.

I'm getting great battery life on the latest nightly with ds battery saver about 18% drop in sleep mode over 7 hours
 
So I was looking through my logcat in reference to mpdecision and thermald not starting on PAC (not starting for me on nightlies of CM either). I'm on the 4/29 nightly. I'll try to update tomorrow when i get off work. Don't want to do it tonight as I use my phone for an alarm clock and have run into issues with it not going off after an update.

Since I'm not use to seeing a bunch of errors in /dev/log/main it made me take notice. Looks like it's having a hard time opening modem firmware.

My phone's been making phone calls fine and using 4g fine, so I'm not sure exactly what's up. But figured I'd mention it.


Also, on the thermald/mpdecision issue. I have neither running in my process list (ps). If I adb shell in and

However, if I do the same thing with mpdecision... with the screen on... my phone reboots. I'm not sure if should be able to do it like that or not. When I issued it a second time with the screen off, it seems to have worked.

Seemed a bit odd, but I wasn't really sure what to expect anyway.
 
I keep getting a pop up that says that unfortunately, Gapps has stopped. Is that normal or is there something I should do to fix it?
 
I think I was using the wrong gapps (gapps-jb-20121212-signed.zip)

If i'm reading the chart correctly, I'm supposed to use gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip

right?

What will 10.2 be based off of? Is there a new android coming out soon?

I don't know. I don't follow any android related news other than what phones are coming out but I guess it has been almost a year since jellybean was released and we should be due for a new version soon...time goes by so fast it seems like there are updates all the time.
