Root CM 7.1 & LorDmod

Just on UUV now, so we'll see how it gets on.

I'm right in thinking that I'd have to go through the -25, -50, UUV, SPUV and PUV for each kernel, aren't I? As he seems to bring them out often, not sure I'd be able to keep up!

Once you've found a UV level that works, you should be able to use that across all kernels without testing. You just need to reapply the value after you flash a new version.

Also, reboot every time you try a new UV value.

Facebook is a massive battery rinse for me, I ended up getting rid of it and using friendcaster instead. The 8.2 kernel is out now so I'm going to give it a go today.

Edit: didn't see the next page of replies, this is in reply to durx and the battery usage on fb

I thought that it might have improved once I was on cm7 but it is just not a very good app :(

After playing around with the UV some more, I rebooted my phone and turned it on to find it had dropped about 30% battery in one go. Thought that was a bit odd

Strange. I've seen mine drop as much as 7% after a reboot, but 30 seems excessive.

Charge till full, then see if it performs/lasts as long as you'd expect. If not, try calibrating again?

I think I will calibrate again, hopefully that should sort it out.

it happened a couple of days ago too, when I downloaded the Roboto font pack, which flashed and then rebooted, losing about 30-35% battery on the reboot.

Have you tried the 8.2 kernel? I will be flashing it today, i'm looking forward to even more improvements from the last one :)

Just stuck it on last night so not had much of an opportunity to mess about.

Is roboto the new font they're using in ICS? Do you have a link? My battery always reports pretty weird results after being in CWM too btw.

Yeah it's the font that will be on ICS :)

I don't have a link per se, I have the app 'ROM Toolbox' (which is an amazing app) and in there you can go to Interface > Font Installer and can download a font pack, which will apply automatically and then reboot your phone

Nothing, the icon is there with a paper clip, correct name but nothing actionable?

Does CM7 confuse you with notifications/sounds too? So many different ways to set them?

Still liking this but I'm hammering the phone, its like a new toy, so much better than the stock DHD.

If you hit menu whilst the email is open, are there options to download attachments? There might also be something in the global settings about attachments? Sorry I can't be much more help on that, I use K9-Mail and I've never had any issues. You might want to give that a whirl instead?

TBH, notifications sort of confused me when I first got the phone, but I found it was easier setting them up in the app as opposed to setting them up via the sound settings. Same rings true with CM7, just set your global notification via the sound menu, then change the notifications via the specific app.

I know what you mean, I still pick it up just to have a play every now and then.

Well... so far, so good on stable pinky... all that's left to do is try pinky UV when I get in and am able to charge my phone up a bit! :D

Glad its working for you mate. I'm at -50 and if anything the battery life has got worse:mad:
Although as i said in a previous post somewhere i'm sure its the constant sinal switching at my work thats doing it, but i do like to have the internet at hand at work so will maybe just run it on the charge for the duration of my shift, but would imagine the battery wont like that.

Lithium Ion batteries are ok with being kept on charge constantly, the charging chip will actually stop accepting current when fully charged so it's fine to keep on charge whenever. It's actually worse to let the battery die completely.

What apps have you installed recently, since the drain has got bad?

Nothing mate. Took 15 minutes out today to jusr stare at the screen (saddo) and it was consatant G, 3G, H so i'm blaming Orange:rolleyes:

To be honest Murzz, the battery life hasn't been great, but that's because I've been hammering it to see if I get any FC's as a result of undervolting... I have to say though, I think I saw a noticable improvement going from UUV to SPUV - perhaps I didn't hammer it quite as much... but I was on and off games, listened to some music and kept checking in here from time to time...

Evening Rob, will give it a go changing from -50 down to pinky UV, see if it makes a difference, will maybe hold of until tomorrow when that disaster of an Orange signal starts again:rolleyes:

On advice from Prez, been going in steps myself... gone from -25, -50, UUV and then SP... gonna go for Pinky tomorrow, I think... just recharging at present and think I'll get Kernel 8.2 on there this evening.

Was nice to go away, but it's nice to be back too... have missed having the laptop and the ability to mess properly! :D

Ye, his Prezship's advice is always worth taking:D. Probably best to fire 8.2 on myself. Glad you enjoyed your break.

When I flashed the new kernel, I then hooked my phone up to the laptop to remove the zip file and have noticed a few folders on the SD card that contain nothing... there are a couple that I know I can remove (they are folders that relate to apps I've gotten rid of), but there are others that I'm not sure about... is there any system specific stuff that I shouldn't get rid of?

I realise that, if the stuff I am looking at is of no size, then it won't be taking up any space on the SD card, but I want to just tidy it up a bit!!

There is a lot of junk on there. The only important(ish) folders are android_secure, lost.dir, the clockwork backup folder & the titanium folder.

If you're not sure about something, back it up before you delete it. Then if it causes any issues, you can always restore it.

So anyway... went for Pinky UV and my phone froze on me within 10 mins... at least I know it can cope @ Stable Pinky... now to remove a load of empty folders off the SD card!
