Root CM12.1 Unofficial Beta

New to AF just wanted to thank bad mofo and all others involved for all of your hard work on the volt. Without you I'd still be stuck on stock! Been using this ROM for about a month now and I've finally got it running just how I need it to run. No complaints here! I'd love to donate but can't at this very moment. Thank you!!

In all honesty, if you really are itching for a new build, the dev himself has showed us how to do it. Just go here, run the script, and follow the tips in the thread, and boom, you've got not only a new build, but something you can update yourself manually by running "repo sync" to update the CyanogenMod code — so that you control when and how your phone gets updated.

Whaaaaaaaat, I thought that was for like bare-bones or plain builds without any volt-specific tweaks to make it work properly and I thought it was purely a base for devs to build up from. So you are saying I can just build it and run it on my phone without any coding on my end necessary? So like i'll have BAD_MOFO's most recent build or tweaks combined with the updated constantly cyanogen code? It seems too good to be true. I'm going to do much more research so I don't look like a dumbass anymore.

just ask Bad_MOFO for his newest sources and Im sure he would be happy that you want to build and oblige.
 
I'm looking for bad_mofo's github, can't seem to find it anywhere. Anyway, is whoshotjr and BAD_MOFO collaborating on this rom? It would be incredible if you guys could blend the uno kernel with cm12 or include some features you've been working on like otg, nfc or the back camera which i've had zero success in figuring out how to get it implemented. There is a pretty bad bug i've been experiencing where the touch screen and capacitative buttons become disabled and I have to lock/unlock repeatedly or restart the phone it comes randomly even when I have min cpu set to 320, also gif support is hit or miss but I think it's because cyanogen hasn't updated their internal webview, chrome in-browser video's also do not work on most sites, netflix and hulu as well but that's already been reported. And I wanted to know if you guys (whoshotjr,BAD_MOFO, adamhos?,phoenix216) could update us on what y'all are working on in terms of features, fixes and stuff? Y'all are putting in some great work. If any of you are students, you should sign up for the free student github pack and get that 100$ in VPS credit with digital ocean so your builds could be lightning fast and I believe they also give away credit to a specialized build service as well, i'm willing to give away my 100$ in credit since I don't really put it to use and i've heard github's been denying students lately.
 
I just wanted to thank all the devs and any other contributes, when I first purchased this phone the only custom Roms you could find were fake versions of Lolipop that would end up bricking your phone, and it took me hours to root my device now look how far we've come in only a few short months! CWM, TWRP, CM11, CM12, Candy5, Etc. and its all thanks to the devs, I think we all should respect the devs, they are not getting paid to make these awesome builds for us and they use their valued time to make these builds for us, they don't have to share their work with us but they ever so kindly do! So try not to get impatient, remember what they have done for us, rome wasn't built in a day and neither is CM 12.1 on a non popular non flagship phone! :)
 
Does this ROM/phone work w/o sim card? I don't see any signal bars in status bar, only no sim icon
Right now I'm on WiFi.

I'll colab with you if you want :) I've got everything set up and an uncooperative Volt as well. I'm not very knowledgeable on coding but I can test anything you wanna throw my way.

I'd like that, but I tried to use the NVidia proprietary drivers and my Ubuntu install got corrupted, I'll pm you when I get everything set up :D
 
The whole ROM is really splendid! I just have some areas I can point out that seem to not function. The back camera is inaccessible (somehow my phone isn't rooted anymore after flashing the ROM. Does someone know how to fix this?), I can't set a lock (Settings crashes when tapping on 'Lock Screen'), and when I watch a YouTube live stream in the YouTube app it refreshes and buffers a couple of times then says 'An error occurred. Tap to try again.'

Edit 1: MMS is also an issue; I can't send/receive them. YT resolution is downgraded to 360p instead of 480p. Now I'm stuck in CM12 boot screen boot loop, I haven't installed or changed much settings (SuperSU wanted to restart phone after gaining access for root.)

You can re-enable root in Developer Options. As for the rear camera, yeah, a bunch of us are having issues in that area (makes Snapchating a PITA).
