Root CM12.1 Unofficial Beta

I just had another look and I totally derped out on this. Their kernel config has 111, 119, and 219 enabled.

With regard to the green camera, I need some more information from people both with and without the issue. I want to know which camera you have and if you have the green tint or not. You can find out by going to /sys/bus/i2c/drivers and look for a folder named imx### where ### is three numbers. That's the camera you have. an easy way to do this in ADB would be

ls /sys/bus/i2c/drivers | grep imx

I expect it will be imx111, imx119, or imx219.
I'll start. imx219, no green tint

Well damn, I got it right the first time.

Anyways, one thing that might be worth trying... make a backup, then boot back up. go to /system/lib and remove all of the files that contain imx179 in the file name. Reboot once more and test the camera.

Sorry to sound like a Nagging Ned but i was trying to bring that version up since May with the info for a possible fix. If i had a regular PC to use i would try it. But can someone please look into it?

Yeah cm11 camera was ok but when i checked it earlier the video didn't record. And with this being 12,wouldn't have been compatible anyway. I think there is something to the kernel trying to use three different resources. Maybe its supposed to...maybe not.

I removed the following libs from my device and still have the green tint:
Code:
libchromatix_imx179_common.so
libchromatix_imx179_default_video.so
libchromatix_imx179_preview.so
libchromatix_imx179_snapshot.so
libmmcamera_imx179.so

does imx179 still show in /sys/bus/i2c/drivers after the reboot?

It seems that imx179 interferes with the original imx111pq driver.
It is also weird that imx119 does not get recognized as it is the front camera.

If I had most recent sources of working CM12.1 I also could try to incorporate original imx111 driver from LG to the kernel as there are multiple statements concerning, from what i understand, power setttings.

Hey guys, I've been trying out the 20150919 version of the rom and I'm also getting the green tint. Thing is I only have the imx111 folder in that directory and so far everyone seems to have either 219 or imx111/179 together. I'm willing to experiment so if you want me to try something out on my version, let me know. I'd love to get the camera working normally because otherwise the rom kicks ass IMO!

Finally managed to compile the kernel without imx179. Didn't work, still green tint...
Replaced as much as possible in drivers/media/platform/msm/ from the original kernel from LG. Also didn't work...
Unless there is some other place in kernel, I'm out of ideas and starting to suspect Android framework itself...

I was doing a little research and I have a better idea than my last one... When I was checking out the Moto G's Fix for the camera and video cam being faulty they made this file to fix the issue. so upon further investigation there are a few sections that can give some better insight on where to look. this one was made for the Moto G that worked on CM 11 and 12.1 on their end in XDA. and some other places to might look using this reference are under
SYSTEM/BIN
SYSTEM/LIB
SYSTEM/LIB/HW
SYSTEM/VENDOR/LIB

Ok, last time I tried tinkering with roms was probably around the gingerbread era. If someone can remind me how to get to the /system folder contents in bad_mofo's rom .zip file, I'll play around and see what I can find. (the CM12 /system file only has build.prop, the CM11's I looked had a comlete folder tree there ).

I'm here chilling on cm12.1 never coming across a green tint in my camera. The only issues i get is with playing videos in snapchat or about any app besides youtube and uc browser or mx player, facebook works too but hit that hd button and it dies.

I installed CM12.1 this morning and have spent all day downloading and installing/uninstalling apps. Glad i had nothing to do today. It was fun getting back in the ring with Android, rooting and flashing files with nail biting tension. All to no avail as the Gapps play store crashes, mobile data doesn't work, video doesnt record, green tint on camera (not in cm11 though) I can't wait for a final stable build. Camera has a green tint to it unless you cover the lens with your finger, point it at something bright, then uncover it causing it to re balance the colors which then comes out clean and clear. I installed TWRP with Flashify from google play store and flashed cm12.1, gappsfull, and sprint.zip apn fix. I am currently downloading LG Volt odex stock rom zv5 now. It's 1 Gig! Oh well, downloaded alot of data today and spent about 10 to 11 hours almost straight messing with these builds. Tried CM11 as well, still no mobile data or video recording. Keep up the good work im a throw a couple dollars your way, buy yo a55 a cheeseburger

This was my first ROM to ever flash and I really didn't have much troubles as everything was pretty much straight forward. Anyways I am pretty impressed with this build although the green camera tint can be annoying at times since I like to take lots of pictures. The video issues I keep reading about don't really bug me as I hardly ever record them. The LTE service I'm unsure about as I have no service and I doubt I ever will since my screen is cracked all up. But to sum it up I'm pretty impressed with this ROM and I hope that the camera issue can be solved before people loses interest and move on.
