Root CM12.1 UNOFFICIAL RC5

Since no md5 sums have been provided I advise against using these zips. Without an md5 to check there is no way to make sure that the files are not corrupted. If you get a bad download and flash it, it could potentially brick your phone.

Edit: I am making these myself now so that I can know that it is done right.

After I make the zips I extract the images and flash them to make sure that they aren't corrupted, then I flash the zips after testing the images one at a time. Next I upload and then download them and compare the md5 for the downloaded zips to the originals. Then I extract the images from the downloaded zips and test them one by one then I finally flash the downloaded zips to be 100% sure that everything is good. After doing all of this I post the zips with the original md5 sums.
Thanks for pointing that out and I have generated some md5 for the files on the original post. I have tested them by checking the files from my computer and downloading them using other devices, I can confirm that these files work good ONLY FOR CM12.1 BETA 1. I choose Google because I feel it is more reliable during the downloading process, I have experienced corrupted downloads in many other download services meant for android files. please do check the MD5.

can someone point me to a tutorial on apn settings?...if that'll fix data...I will utilize the information with a vengeance not seen by blah blah blah....
I'd dig it...a lot

Hey guys, so I have a question, currently I'm on BNv2. So I have metro software running on my T-Mobile Zmax.

When I flash cm12.1, I will go back to being straight T-Mobile again correct?

THESE FILES HAVE BEEN TESTED ON METROPCS ZTE ZMAX (Z970). I AM NOT SURE ABOUT T-MOBILE OR ANY OTHER VARIANT.

I would like provide some files to achieve r/w permissions on CM 12.1 BETA 1 <--(THIS WILL ONLY WORK ON THAT VERSION). All credit goes to @Masterchief87 as he made the files. all I did was replace the boot.img on both zips. This follows the same procedures as his files.
I am NOT responsible for ANY BRICKS. DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!

SWITCH TO R/W ( Reboot Recovery to access system):

I managed to get data working, now my only problem is that the device wont show up in ADB and I cant use PDANET so Metro is blocking every site I go to unless I use https:// but sometimes https doesnt always work (here for Instence) so is anyone able to connect via adb?

Got LTE in full effect...
Thanks for the APN tip.... Matter fact.. I'm posting this from CM12 beta 1
WOOOOO!!!

The sim card you use determines the provider. The apn settings determine the routing. The Rom you choose is only an operating system.

Man..i wish I could flash this. But where I live there's no bars and I depend on WiFi calling and texting. Probably flash this to test it out some. Every phone I get I swear a month later hroark gets it. Much love and thanks for your incredible work! Will make sure to donate! :)

Been running this since yesterday when I got my new ZMAX, and this ROM is the bomb. LTE works (with that IPv6 hint), and everything else works great, too. I have themes, V4A, SuperSU, BusyBox, AdAway, Battery Calibration [ROOT], and ES File explorer with root explorer enabled. Oh and this app called kernel toolkit and the Sony Walkman music app. I used the same method of getting R/W as we did with 4.4 (boot.img in the recovery partition), and I have full access (I don't use recovery all that often anyway)

Fabulous job Hroark, and I sent you a PM on XDA, though some of the contents of the message no longer apply lol.

I have been using it for 4 days now, and it works brilliantly.
I have been running this Ron for a few days now and I have been thoroughly testing. I have come across to small issues that may not qualify it as a daily driver. The screen seems to lose touch at random it does not happen often but can be in issue if happens at the wrong time. Also the GPS works but still seems to be a bit buggy. Other than that its solid. Major shout out the the dev.

For the most part, everything about Beta 1 is stellar. A few moments ago though I was watching videos through YouTube, and suddenly the device froze and my bluetooth headphones disconnected and the device had a solid red light.

Pretty weird, but holding the power button got it back up and running.
