Root Cm7 1.1

1.2 is as stable as any ROM right now. AFA being "final" I don't think a ROM is ever final until a developer gives up working on it. I'm not 100% sure why the TB isn't on the nightlies list. I could make an educated guess, but it would be just that, a guess.

If you want AOSP nightlies I'd check out OMFGB if I were you. From what I've heard it's just as stable as CM7 and LTB and you can get your flash on every night

I meant "final" as in release as opposed to RC. I was just trying to figure out what's holding it back. It seems to be fairly stable.

How close is RC1.2 to being considered final? How close is the TB to finally being added to the CM nightlies?

i dont know how close it is,but we do not have nightlies because our RIL has still not been merged successfully into the CM trunk. becasue of our 2 radios, when they tried to merge our code it broke other devices

devices like the incredible 2 that allready have nightlys are simply becasue they have familiar code with only a cdma/3g radio.

im anxious for it too... not so much for cm7,but for future cm projects(ice cream sandwich :D)

See that's really interesting. I've tried to keep up with development on XDA, but a 700+ page thread is just a little much and hanging out in IRC all day is not an option. I wish there was a dev blog that I could read to learn more about the intricacies of development, what's being worked on, what's broken and why.

id like to see something like that too! i try to keep up on the thread, but it is a PITA,and exactly why the general public shouldnt be able to post on the developer threads without some sort of control.

prolly best thing you can do is follow slayher https://twitter.com/#!/LayherDaddy and cyanogen mod https://twitter.com/#!/cyanogen on twitter. i also follow android police, teamAndIRC,and whomever else i can find that i think might tweet good info ;) you can also follow me if you want, whenever i see something interesting i try and retweet it.

sometimes youll see stuff like this: Little Bits and bytes: Life and upcoming events.

wich was linked back on page 2,and i havent seen anything else like it since. cvcps somehow got cm7 to run on the droix x/droid 2/etc. despite the locked bootloader,so he must be a super smart individual :D hopefully with his help they will get everything worked out so that mecha can have real, official support complete with nightly builds.

I always hated twitter, but I've been following some of the developers on it for the past couple weeks and it's pretty informative. Glad I actually started using it. As Scotty said if you want to follow me (link in sig ;)) I always retweet interesting and important Android related news

Side note, I changed the name of this thread from "CM7 6-10 Nightly" to "CM7 rc1.2" mainly because we're not in nightlies and it could be confusing for some

Worm getting some followers on twitter. Saw you also joined rootzwiki. Seems like a solid community over there, i also signed up under the same name i use here.

Also wanted to update on status of my 4g. It is just my location, went over farther away from the city, but it is a higher scale community and got solid 4g the whole time. Lame if you ask me, my house is a death trap to the signal and so is my workplace. Glad to know it is not the new radio, now if i could just do something about the battery life without sacrificing performance. Recommend a Kernel anyone?

all you have to do to see whats the latest and greatest kernel is read worms signiture :D

i just downloaded the latest AOSP leankernel,im going to give it a try. ive been happy with slayher's homebrewed kernel, but the quest for even slightly better batery life never ends.

i left my 4g on a good chunk of the day yesterday and was quite pleasantly surprised to find it didnt suck the battery down as fast as it has in the past. i still got about 10 hours out of my battery yesterday with about an hour of navigation and my usual 2-3 hours of voice calls  4g was on the last 4-5 hours of it. not bad,all things considering.

I have essentially turned 4g off now that i know it will just be searching for a signal around the house. I did not use my phone a lot yesterday and was down to 35% or so on about 18 hours. Not bad, certainly better than what some have gotten, but for the amount i used the phone i feel this is terrible. It was essentially in standby all day.
I will have to keep in mind that Worm knows all :)
I never really flashed kernels on the inc because with cm7 it got to the point where i was getting 26+ hours of life consistently.
I also noticed Protekk has his battery sipper in beta right now, sadly it is only for sense but he said he will be working on an AOSP version shortly.
Lean kernel here i come!

I would actually try that kernel except for the fact I don't have the slayher kernel to flash back to. I don't want to reinstall the whole rom either just for the kernel since I've made some mods that get overwritten. Anyone have the slayher kernel isolated?

But, I'm getting pretty good batt life on the stock CM7 kernel. I have a feeling VZW made some changes in their network or the phone is finally settling into it's own skin. Either way, I'm happy with this as it stands.. just give me a nightly (or weekly) ;

bj, I am sure worm or scotty will correct me if I am wrong, but in the past when I flashed a kernel and it didn't work out, and I wanted to flash back to stock I have wiped just dalvik cache and reflashed the rom. If you aren't wiping data or cache shouldn't the mods stay in tact? Or am I wrong on this?

This is correct. If you flash leankernel and don't like it, wipe the caches and then reflash the ROM. You'll have Slayhers kernel back

Yes guys, I know that. (you know I do) But if I have changed fonts, I lose them. If I flash a MIUI camera, I lose that too. If I want to flash a kernel it's 3 MB vs. 80 for the whole rom. You get my point? Flashing a kernel I can do in about 20 seconds with literally no downtime. I don't know why the devs don't put out the kernel separately since they know we flash others like crazy.

Id like a copy of slayhers kernel also.wonder if we can extrAct it from the Rom somehow? Or maybe we can ask him if he'd mind putting it with the Rom downloads

I just flash RC 1.2 MR2 but for some reason the signal bars are white not green.. I did a full Wipe this also happened with OMFGB .. any ideas?

thANk you kind sir,i got it
Great. I flashed lean kernel today give 'er a shot now that I have a fallback plan. But handoff, speed, etc. is working fine so far. We'll see about batt life. No tweaks just yet but I'm sure I'll mess around with it tomorrow.

I was speaking with Imoseyon a week or so ago and asked him what he runs his kernels at. He said he always runs extreme and interactiveX governor. He never manually lowers vdd levels because he feels it's "fun, but not really all that helpful" I was jacked up when he said extreme/iX because I've always run that since I tried his kernels and even before he came out with the speedtweak.sh script. For me it's the perfect combination of speed and battery life. Just thought I'd share. Take it for what it's worth.
