Root Cm7 1.1

what is the best option or kernels with CM, from xda it looks like i have quite a few options.

Edit: i should also ask how the camera is on cm7 for the bolt, because on the incredible it seemed like the 8 megapixel resolution was a little different than the software that sense uses, and so far i am loving the camera on the thunderbolt.

I did delete that folder, but notice that sometimes I'll still have to reboot to get WiFi working

i also deleted this folder, rebooted, and wifi still didn't work. Couldn't get LTE to work for me either after following some instructions from xda, i think i am just going to wait it out until we get a nightly or equivalent quality build.

I love everything about this ROM other than the WiFi issue. To me, it's worth it to waste a minute rebooting every once and a while to have this awesome ROM.

I could not get wifi to work at all, which is disheartening. I have been home from school now and work a part time job during the day. The rest of the time i am home i am on wifi. I am still going to follow this like a hawk, because CM7 is a great daily driver once the nightlies progress towards a stable, and it has all of the bells and whistles i could ask for, all while being an AOSP rom. I am excited for these features to be worked out. The fact that the stock kernel is clocked at 1.8 is a little odd, but i got it to boot using the utkanos #1 kernel.
Oh well sense is fun for a little, and with the way this is going, CM should be finished by the time i start getting super tired of sense, its sluggish feeling, and awful battery life.

its still running great for me. wifi works fine,i never have to reboot to make it work. ive got wifi at home,so im on it alot also. i can come and go from the house and leave wifi on... it picks up instantly when i come in. i can turn it on and off here at the house and no 3g handoff issues...

i havent had any more text prollems since the first day(knocking on wodden desk ;)). heck, even the battery life seems to have substantially improved... ive got 13 hours,29 minutes, and 22s on time and ive still got 33% left

im still on the stock kernel. my phone handled 1.8 just fine, but i turned it down to 1.113

i wish i had an idea why its not working for you...

what gapps did you use?

I used the gapps in rom manager. 20110307. Maybe later today i will mess with it again. I love my CM7, and would love to have 4g when i need it, but be able to switch to 3g anytime i want to save battery, i.e. at work or in class. Quick question, if i flash a custom kernel to get it booted. then go into performance settings check restore settings on boot, then reflash the rom to get the stock kernel back, 1) would this work? 2)you think any of these problems would go away for me? I have noticed most of the people that can boot with the stock kernel seem to not have these problems.

you are using an old gapps... shouldnt have anything to do with it,really, just be missing talk and maybe a couple other things... but heres the one im using:

lithid-gapps-0504-signed.zip let me know if that link doesnt work.

also,if you are using rom manager to try and install cm7 and gapps, that could be part of your prollem  im not a fan of rom manager, and would highly recomend wiping and installing the rom and gapps in clockwork recovery and see if you have any different results.

also,go to settings/about phone and check your baseband version if you dont know what radios youre on. if your baseband is this, then youre on the newer froyo radios: 1.16.00.0402w_1 and you might try using the older ones: Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!

those are the ones that came with the 1.12.605.6 shipping firmware and are what is reccomended to use. some folks are using the newer ones without issue, but i tried them and had data and text issues,so i went back to the old ones.

if your baseband is 1.16.00.0223r then youre still on the older radios and should be good to go for cm7

the above link is from adrenalynes radio thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1045081

yeah i always flash through clockwork manually, i had forgotten to transfer a gapps over to my phone and didn't want to plug it in again, so just downloaded those through rom manager. I am definitely going to mess with this again later tonight. Hopefully i have a little luck.

I'm actually running the newer radio, 1.16.00.0402w_1 and don't have any issue other than the WiFi sometimes not being "fully connected". I just noticed my sleep policy was set to sleep when screen was off. I changed it to never so I hope that will fix my issue.

I thought I was on the older version, but I must have misread my screen prior to flashing CM7

I just noticed mine is set to that also. Since I'm not having any prollems and even my battery life is improved I'm not going to change it,lol... but if I start having prollems this will be the first thing I do. Let me know how it works out :)

tried with the stock kernel again after getting it to boot with utkanos, no luck getting the stock kernel again, i am charging back to 100% and then flashing again trying out imo's lean kernel to see how that works out for me. Will post after i do that to see if i can get 4g and wifi to work.

Was able to test LTE while at work today and it's working great for me. I'm still having WiFi issues, but instead of rebooting every time I noticed switching to airplane mode fixes it. The in call volume fix worked wonders as well. I'm beyond impressed with this and it's definitely my new daily

Boo, we are opposite worm. I got wifi to work, but I am still having 4g issues, got it to work once, then dropped back down to 3g, the handoff was slow, but I was running stock today before work and turned on mobile data a few times to check, i did get 4g everytime when on a stock rom. I don't know why it doesn't work on this, i followed the instructions on xda for being on 3g to start, switching to lte and running fix permissions, switching back to 3g, rebooting and waiting for a solid 3g before trying to go back to 4g. Didn't work, even coming off wifi on cdma+lte the handoff is extremely slow. Oh well, eventually this will get worked out. I miss my CM. I am seriously debating staying on this rom, with LTE disabled.

I keep 4G turned off 99% of the time to be honest. I'm not a power user and 3G speeds are plenty fast for me when I'm not near WiFi. Plus the battery you save with it turned off is ridiculous. I'm a WiFi whore and was planning on staying on CM even with the issues I was having. It's just that good, IMO

Worm, you might want to try the 223r radio just to eliminate that as a cause. I too am always on wifi so this is something I'm particularly concerned with. I'd like to see you get this resolved. This rom is awesome. (and we're still in alpha??) Wow!

yes it is hard to believe that the alpha of CM is so good. Currently i am charging back up, i have been flashing a lot today :) so i can go back to stock real quick and make some backups of some games i was playing to have those levels in CM7, particularly my plants vs. zombies save.
Just now i looked at my phone to see if i had any notifications, and i am indeed on 4g. Just tried out gps lock and it worked like a charm. Also noticed the camera is semi-broken right now, for me at least. Anyone else confirm, it still takes pics, but doesn't show you a preview of what you are taking, just a black screen. This day has been partially sucessful in getting my CM back up and running.

You mean to eliminate 4G? Or my WiFi issue?

what's everyone getting on battery life? I have nothing to compare to so far, as i have been on this rom and stock for the past 2 days. I am using drod's kang bang kernel, and after i get a day or two of numbers to compare battery i am going to switch to utkanos' undervolted kernel to see if it saves anymore battery, and if i have any problems with data or wifi on it. I believe my camera issue is related to using drod's kernel.

i got what i considered to be fantastic battery life sunday. 15 hours and i still had some left(30% or so). i was at home,so alot of wifi use... and not as many voice calls.

yesterday i had extremely heavy use with no wifi and a good 3+ hours of voice calls on bluetooth, but still got about 11 hours out of the first battery. second one had about 30% left when i plugged it in later that night, but again very heavy use sitting at the warehouse where theres crappy signal. kept the display on well over an hour playin games and surfin the net. watched several you tube videos at home on wifi, and another 45 minutes or so of voice calls.

may not sound great, but previous versions i was only getting 6-8 hours of what i considered light to moderate use

That's pretty much my experience exactly Scotty. 15 hours yesterday with 30+ left. I never got that no matter which rom or kernel no matter the cpu speed. I didn't have the voice call time you did but I made it up with a couple of hours of Angry Birds Rio. It's going to be weird feeling not having to look at the batt stat all the time now. :-))
