Root CM7 and voice texting?

um... try to go to keyboard settings and find a setting for it. if not install the app gingerbread keyboard by steve lin. im pretty sure that is has a voice to text feature. if not let me know and ill find something else
 
I have Smart Keyboard which I paid for and CM 7.1.0 as well. I have the option to click the mic to do voice and the little window pop up but when it does it never begins to listen. It just has the little red line through it and the option to cancel. I miss this feature and would also like to add it. How would adding a keyboard add the voice command feature or is this where the voice module is normally located on these devices? You're not just talking about the button to access the feature, right?

Yea thats what i thought. I realy dont think its as simple as changing keyboards. There are to many things that i like in the sense roms that dont seem to be in the aosp roms or take a lot of setup to get. I play around with cm7 and keep trying to get it the way i want it but keep going back to mikg rom wich has worked flawless for me.

That's what flashoholics anonymous is for:p:p:) Want to try something new but you keep going back to a reliable rom!
 
I didnt realy get an answer on this so I thought i would reword it.
On the sense roms you have a mic on the keyboard that types what you say, Is there any way to get this on an aosp rom like cm7. I seen a few on the market but it uses its own texting program and have iffy reveiws. Thanks
 
I don't know that answer but have a question of my own, if you don't mind. Does that function actually work well for you on the right rom? and which rom would that be, cause it would be handy and I have never used it. Thanks!:D

Ive only used it on the stock and mikg roms and it works perfect 99% of the time the other 1% i may have to correct 1 word.
 
Ok nandroided back to cm7 booted shutdown and flashed keyboard rebooted and still no mic on keyboard. wiped cashe and dalvic cashe rebooted again still no mic on keyboard BUT then i noticed the mic on the google search wiget and taped it and was prompted to download google voice search and VOICE TO TEXT. did that and BAM its on the keyboard and works. WOHO this was the only thing keeping me from running aosp as a daily. Thanks OCN i woulnt have figured this out with out downloading the theamed keyboard.
