Root CM7 for Samsung Transform Ultra(FOR DEVELOPERS AND TESTERS ONLY)

One of my goals in understanding the Cyanogenmod build environment was to figure out how to compile just 1 library instead of the whole tree. Well today I figured it out.

Say you want to try the libraries here:
https://www.codeaurora.org/git/proj...pository/revisions/master/show/hardware/msm7k

You would clone it: git clone git://git.codeaurora.org/ag-gb-dsds-7227.git

Then copy the desired library to the device config root: "device/samsung/transformultra" in my case.

Then run: mmm libaudio(or whatever library you wanted) from that directory.

It will compile just that library for you and then you can copy the .so and/or the binaries to the device to test them.

does this mean your working on cm7 again?

and BTW bads3ctor your a great man keep up the good work

Could you please give us a list of libs that still need to be worked into cm7? You are giving us a lot of guesswork with this post. Because none of us know "whatever library we want". I am willing to work on this but being in high school, I don't have much freetime and would like to eliminate any guess work if possible.

With my limited understanding of what's going on here it seems to me that all libs have already been compiled in the alpha version of this rom but this is a way of compiling individual libs if you want to try to fix a broken module... this way you can flash a fix instead of having to reflash a whole rom... like I said I'm operating on a limited understanding here...

I think your statement is accurate. However, we should have a list of what is still broken and notes on each issue. Maybe we should create a shared Google Doc (spreadsheet?).

I can make one if no one else wants to. I'll check this thread later today/tonight and see.

This would be awesome, my wife just got this phone through Ting & I'm hoping to get this put on her phone at some point

Hi everyone.

Joining the TU fun... would like to get rom for testing and bug reporting.

Links seem to be unavailable on Minus ATM however. Currently can only check on my phone internet is coming this weekend.

I work on phones and tablets regularly as well as report bugs for various mobile video game titles.

I really like the TU its a great phone but needs a little elbow grease of course.

My wife will also have a TU shortly to test on... both on boost.

Thanks to all for your hard work on this seemingly difficult journey.

Anyways that's all for now,
-Korizon

These are all fixable by using Odin right?
Not these kinds of bricks. Once you have ram dump mode on the TU, you are toast. There are 4 ways to brick the TU in this manner:

dd a new kernel to the /boot partition
flash a kernel using an edify script
Odin a kernel that the TU does not like
CWM restore a kernel the TU doesn't like

I also tried to use CDMA Tools to communicate with the TU while in ram dump mode....it connects but does not communicate with the phone. It's now in a UPS drop box waiting for pickup.

Gpotvin:0.5 bricks.

phone maraculously came back to life and booted to cwm after I gave up trying to fix it

Although I don't think this was a hard brick like u describe. Hard bricked my old replenish though ;-)

Then I must have been lucky, mine froze on a OC and let it sit a few seconds, then it went to RAM Dump Mode. I then hurried and removed the battery and power cord and luckily wasn't screwed.

Won't do that again. LOL

I think that's a different kind of RAM dump. I've had it do that from overclocking at least 10 times, haha.

Anybody still working on this? I'm willing to help in any way possible to get this runnable on the TU. I know of quite a few people that would like to see this released. PM me if you're working on it and like I said ill try and help out.
