Root CM7 loading google apps

If I load CM7 ROM where can I get the google apps for things like the market, email and such. I noticed on clockworkmod that there is a gapp file is that what I need?
 
what is the best way to install gapps? I had found it on xda but lost the thread again. At work and cant stay on the thread and read.:D

Well just what I was looking for and was typing when you posted the link.
 
CM7 is pretty awsome and thought I woul let you all know all went well thanks for everything now off to modify and load a kernel..:D
 
sweet glad you got it going. as for kernels try out tiamat 3.3.8. it is what i'm using right now and it is awesome. there are many here who are having great result with it as well. just keep in mind kernels do not react the same way on different phones. you can find it in ref#2 of my sig.
 
I have down loaded the tiamet kernel just did not flash it yet. I am usig another savagedzen for the moment. I cannot beleive the battery life so far. I am in a mostly 3 g area but occasionally I can get 4. Thanks for the recomends.
