End result is a working GPS. I'm greatful to slayher for all his hard work and am perfectly fine with some workarounds for now. Not sure what the big deal is or why you'd want to avoid an otherwise great working rom.
I'm running baseband 1.16.00.0223r.
Can anyone tell me what radio I need to flash before installing cm7 and perhaps a link to where I can download it?
you don't need to flash a radio.
Download CM7, the MR1 version. Move it to ClockworkMod > downloads. Reboot to recovery, wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, flash zip of CM7.
If you want the MR2 radio, read up on how to flash radio's, it's something you need to make 100% sure you're doing correctly.
What part of "the GPS wont come on" don't you understand? If it doesn't come on, your fix doesn't work either. Why am I willing to give up a great rom for a workaround? Because your workaround is for a different problem entirely and doesn't work for this particular problem.
I have read the thread and have seen how to download it to the root of my SD card and then boot into hboot...
Is the mr2 radio better than the mr1?
Does my baseband version show that I do have the mr1 installed?
*shrug* go ahead and be cranky then.I don't care if you run it or not.
If "wont come on" means "wont get a lock" then the fix is for that prollem. Its worked for countless numbers of people here and on xda. Just sayin.
If "won't come on" means something else, check md5 of your download, full wipe and reflash,as whatever else you could mean by "wont come on" is not a typical cm7 issue.
You're on the original radio, CM7 MR1 works with the 223 and 402 radios. The 402 is the first OTA upgrade.
I'd say if you're going to flash a radio, you might as well go for the official MR2 radio. Most of the new ROM's are based off of it, but it's not necessary for CM7. There is no difference between the MR1 and MR2 versions of CM7.
here is the MR2 radio link; [RADIO] Official OTA MR2 Radio 1.39.00.0627r [7/8/2011] - xda-developers
Verify the MD5 BEFORE you flash it in Hboot.
I would flash the radio before the ROM, let it load, delete or move the PG05 file from the root of the card, reboot and flash CM7. In which case, obviously download CM7 for MR2.
Ibrick,
I think I'll stick with the mr1 version as I have no idea what checking the md5sum means. If you wouldn't mind, could you PM me with a link to a site that would explain the full process of flashing a radio?
Since there's no difference between the two cm7 versions, I'll stick with the safe option until I research more. I do NOT want to brick my phone.
Funny. Lots of people are having the same issue with other AOSP roms, too. The problem that I have with the crap you are saying right now is that you don't seem to understand when someone says GPS won't even activate. You simply respond as if they meant to say their GPS isn't getting a lock, and proceed to belittle them. So do your homework before acting like that.
Im done. I'm going to go watch a thread where they are discussing the issue that, according to you, no one else is having... and then when someone find a fix, I can have my ROM back.
pretty much doin the same thing. its getting a fix on satelites, then when it has enuff it starts directing... i like gps status cause i can see it working, lol. as it finds satelites they pop up one by one on the little grid. as soon as it stops finding them, and the ones that are there stay for a couple minutes i call it good.
if i check location after that its usually accurate to 3m or less.
youre doig this in a sense rom, then going back to AOSP? or just doing that in AOSP?
i tried to get a lock outside on OMGB on the replacement phone... wouldnt lock for nothinthot it was a rom issue,so i restored cm7 backup where it worked fine. still no lock
at this point i thot my rep phone was broken and the decision wich one to keep would be easy! i tried the sense thing not expecting it to work, and damned if it didnt. it either worked or was an amazing coincidence
2 satelites popped up right away on gps status, then slowly but surely it found 7 more, and it was fine all the time after that.
my thots as well,i have mine set the same.
prolly so... i got my gps lock on mr2 when i did the sense to aosp trick.
after some more thinking on this... i think i can see how it works. i have noticed that if i set my lte switch on something,it is still on that after a reboot, restore,or a new flash. matter of fact it was still that way even after flashing the modded mr2 RUU,IIRC. there must be some part of the phone that hardware interface layers store it various settings and such that is not affected by the OS.
or maybe its just voodoo magic,i dunno![]()
It also has nothing to do with sense itself... Moreso to do with loading a stock Rom where the gps works. Remember cm7 is built from scratch aosp, and the "gps control" code is not right yet.
It sounds completely stupid, but its worked for me as well.
-Make a cm7 backup
-Full wipe and flash a stock based Rom in recovery
-Download and run gps status. Get a solid lock on 7+ satelites
-Boot immediately to recovery, wipe, restore cm7 backup
-Enjoy gps![]()
A stock based ROM is any ROM using HTC sense. Basically any ROM other than AOSP
