Root CM9 Dirty Port

Well i can tell you one thing for sure cm9 or cm10 ain't no joke when it comes to building by looking at all the sources from different roms/phones. ;)

+1 on that bro, I just hope things can get worked out, and even though I no longer own the phone, the development still has me excited, and I want you guys and my mom too experience this feel of cm9. To me ,I just want to see the greater good of this, and try and see the good in it period, not to mention for my moms sake lol!! ;)
 
well it being for the evo or what not then makes it irrevelant to this subforum and again i only tried it to see if it was tru if that kid got it working for the esteem i wouldnt doubt joke was on us and if thats the case......... yea...

But i did find a stable cm9, was tempting to flash it, but i havn't even rooted it yet.

Go on the Evo thread, I am not alone lol. The guy is great! It is irreverent for the Esteem... yes, but that was not my point, as I have stated before. It was just to clearly and state that he is a trusted source. ;)

Once you get used to the sweep to wake feature you wont be able to go back! Mike is great!

Its all good. Prolly not a big deal but theres those few noobs out there that will brick their ish faster than you can say "Rooted LG Esteem" and come here and make a thread titled "HEEEEEELLLLLPPPPPPPPPP" "My phone is messed up. Wont boot". That's all it will say too. lol

I wonder about people sometimes. lol

Ok - so we have a bunch of issues here, let's see if I can help get this all straight.

Feel free to correct me if I don't have my facts straight, ok? :)


  1. We have a dirty port not made by the OP, it's made by someone else.
  2. We have had questions about who made it to determine trust of the payload.
  3. The OP is trying to help, but per the first post quoted above, isn't clear on dirty ports and wants to warn that he's not responsible if catastrophe strikes.
  4. The linked payload that I took down wasn't working.
  5. And dogs started sleeping with cats until we even got posts about Macintoshes.


So, let's see if we can square this all away right quick and if not to everyone's perfect satisfaction, then at least to the most and to the greater good.




Here's what I think -



  1. If it's not your payload (app, theme, rom, kernel, framework, patch, whatever I missed) and if you don't really understand it and can't support it, and it contains risk - don't link it here for download.
  2. Ok to link to the dev's site where the dev can answer questions first-hand if there are problems.
  3. Ok to discuss it here so people can decide if they want to try it or not.




Like I say - if I got my facts wrong, square me away.


If my solution is unacceptable - tell me why.


Nothing personal here, but I think the above is a much better way to run things - yes?

We (several mods on my report) have actually been watching this a bit this weekend - I was just slow getting the picture (major reading comprehension problem by me (I said it so you didn't have to :p)).

Bad downloads are high risk. At the first sign, please report and say that's what it is.

If my compadres and I don't get it and don't respond, please PM me - it's not that we don't care, it's just that when we're off killing spammers and people trying to scrape and steal passwords, we can make a mistake in priorities.

I think this is high-priority stuff, yeah??
 
if we really think about all the details about this rom that was posted with an actual link its like saying well its not for the esteem but try it anyways at your own risk lol i would of never posted a download link only till the actual person working on it says it should work, i also found it sketchy that the op never tried it instead he waited till every1 else did that in my opinion isnt the right thing to do if i post something on this subforum i always try it first b4 posting it. just saying.
 
Ok, normally we don't go here in public but it's been out here for a while, so let's discuss reports.

First - we respect everyone's privacy. Everyone's.

We'd rather that people not discuss having made reports for two simple reasons - can lead to discussion about the report and the reporter instead of the issue, and well, privacy.

I think you all just want to discuss the issue, not other stuff, yeah?

That said - we love reports. No such thing as too many reports. I go for reports like my dog goes for cheese. Send moar reports.

Please don't reply then report - please report without replying. The more replies, the longer it takes a s.l.o.w. mod like me to get the picture, ok.

Other thing - mods report, too. There were several reports on this, two were from mods - mine was first.

If you have a question about a report in progress, please send me a PM - in public just isn't the best way.

That's all on reports here, okey dokey?

I was referring to the Mac kernel for the Evo and how it would be nice to have that and the sweep to wake feature for the Esteem. He must have thought I meant Macintosh Which is understandable.:p
 
lol i was commenting when u said mac was the ish lmao thats the only part i was commenting and weird some1 would name a kernel after the very 1 thing us all droid fanatics are against lol
anyways what im about to says isnt to poke at some1 but there was a person on this thread that said that they got cm9 dirty ported over to their phone now i see them on the cm9 thread posted by pg leaving neagtive comments the reason im stating this is beacause till now benefit of the doubt was given now i no longer believe this mod and its method will ever work for the esteem. Sorry but doubt is given to a certain point.
