Root Cm9. Will it work. I think soo

I don't understand why everyone is saying we shouldn't run it, and how it won't fit with the given space. I've seen CM9 and AOKP ROM's that were around 100mb's or less. With hardware acceleration, I think we would be able to use it just fine.

actually 80 mb to 110 depending on the device but also remember those are hdpi devices vs mdpi Granted were going to save some space as some of the stuff wil just not work with the device face unlock and so forth..

Also you will save a ton of space sence mdpi graphics use about half the space of the hdpi counterparts

will it be fast yes will it be huge prob not any bigger then cm7

I already know its not gonna be fully usable. But id like to push myself and see if I could build even if it has bugs. It worked on the prevail. Same chipset same ram ect.

humm didnt know that that actually has some benefit as you can grab there differential and then work off that ...

:P

i.e slimics rom
" [ROM][4.0.4] Slim ICS (SGS2) - Clean, Simple & Fast (Base ~44MB + Essentials ~25 MB )"

Oh, and has anyone seen the Linux 3.0 Kernel>>? It's pretty nice, I wonder if we could use it for our phones, If any DEV is up to it.
it will be like running Win7 on a 486 from the 90's ;)

I don't see the trouble with getting Ice Cream Sandwich on our admires...
zSDm

BUMP, oh and BTW, the Huawei M835 got an ICS Alpha a couple of days ago. Text, Data, calls, and Camera don't work..

Data and texts, calls, just need to be fixed by APNS and whatnot. The Camera has to use different libs and that's pretty much it.

^____^

So for some encouragement to Boraichee, Requisite0 and all the DEV's

WE APPRECIATE YOU GUYS !

Bo we are so grateful that you continue to work on more and more for this device. i remember when the esteem came out and everyone said the admire was dead and we didnt have a chance for anything. you, req, baby jesus, raver, and genovdot are all amazing! thank you devs

I'm excited! (: I've been waiting on ics since my ascend (more than 4 months ago) I'd be happy to test when a bootable build is avaliable,

I've been hearing about MTD....
Lol what exactly is it

A diffrent file system them BML And ext 4 parttioned roms.. Its much easier on flash media.. Ext 4 is somewhat faster with a tad more overhead MTD is better with read write with flash media but a little slower.

Tried to put it in non technical terms...

its also easier to remap partition info in MTD then ext 4 sense it doesn't require any modification of the PBL partition info.

Not really trying to 'hype' it but i think it'll run okay.
example : Galaxy Prevail
And the dalvik cache is better on ICS too, especially if its CM9.. with a lot improvements..maybe.

Amazes me that CM9 will be running on this device. Does CM9 take more resources than CM7?
