Root Coming Soon: Full 2.3.320 SBF file!!

Thanks alot guys, you are all amazing super helpful! one more thing when I go into astro i get three file options, asec/sdcard/secure? I go to sdcard and scroll down to titanium backup then scroll all the way down to z4root, but i see 3 files for that but the last file has apk.gz at the end of it what should I do says i can send it to email or gmail? or do i extract it when i put the ne wsbf on the phone?

You need to use Titanium backup to restore those files but TB has to have root first. You need to download the Z4Root apk in this thread to root and then you can use the TB app to restore all your goodies.

Just download the Z4Root apk and drop on your sdcard. Then use the built in "files" app to find it and install it. You will need to make sure you have enabled non market app installs.

Menu/Settings/Applications and check the unknown sources box.

Awesome thanks!!! I should be good to go then, getting ready to install the SBF!! ohh when I get root should I maybe erase the sd card so I don't have a conflicting issue's with the new update? maybe going over board but thought I can pretty much get all my apps again through market. kinda like starting from scratch, but I don't mind. let me know what you guys think?

I would have to agree with this. I flashed mine with 70%. They put that warning up because there were quite a few people who flashed with low battery's and died in the middle of the flash effectively bricking.

Dude you are a complete overkill and I LOVE IT! That is so me to a "T" because I think the exact same way. There is absolutely no reason to format your card and start from scratch but I have done that exact thing at least 3 times since I got my DX :D.

My only advice is if you do it backup the entire card to your PC and then format it. That way you can still get back any pictures or Angry Birds high scores that you may decide you wanted after all.

HAHA yeah my friends make fun of me all the time! I'm used to it! I just don't want nobody to take offense to me asking stupid questions but I just keep playing out scenarios in my head.lol I'm kinda a "worst case scenario" kinda guy, just want to make sure everything is covered! ohh like when you said dl z4root and drop on sd, well i do everything through the phone and when i dl something, I go to files and its in download folder so does it say install from there? please guys bare with me just a little longer!!!

It doesn't matter where its at as long as you can find it to initiate the install.

You mean like when I make backups before I install new roms like apex, or different themes? I was thinking in order, sbf,factoryreset,format sd, dl z4root,go to market get my apps back,then apex! and you get the rest.lol But seriously I've had the DX like 3 weeks so there really isn't to much on here, I really don't take pics and if I do I put them on FB anyways.

ohh well those backups won't be any good now that i SBF the new update right? i need to make new ones for this update right?
 
my bootloader is v 30.03. what is considered the best option for me, to upgrade via sbf or the .zip method?
 
I was in the same situation. I used sbf in order to do a clean install. GL! :)
 
So this new SBF, Wanna go ahead and flash it, i think Im good to Go? my Boot loader is 30.03, still thinking about it, I'm full of What ifs ?? :D

thanks! is there no benefit to the new bootloader the .zip brings? i think that is about the only difference. part of me thinks it would be better to keep my current bootloader anyway.

I have 30.03 as well, went for it and was painless. The nagging thing that made me do it was jealousy :) I wanted to get in on the fun
 
ok just sbf'd, all went well did a factory rest right from there, signed in and still have my launcher pro and bootstrap is still in the app drawer and astro, titanium backup, rom manager, pretty much everything but z4root not there? what did the market automatic install the apps i've downloaded?


I just hit the wireless tether and I do NOT have root so that is good I think!
 
So for those who loaded this up, what are your findings? Anything leap out at you? Instances of instability for you that seems to be fixed?
 
Fixed my wifi it's not jumping in and out! i did notice there is some my verizon type short cut on the second home screen and it tells me my data usage kinda neat never noticed it before! I'm still checkin.

Luckily that isn't something I have had to deal with, but have had the reboot at unlock screen more than a few times lately. I cleared system cache in hopes to fix.
 
for those who have the new base band have you gauged your current download speeds? base bands have a significant role in 3g speeds.
