Root Coming Soon: Full 2.3.320 SBF file!!

ohh well those backups won't be any good now that i SBF the new update right? i need to make new ones for this update right?

Delete the old backups as soon as you can. If you make a mistake and try to restore an old backup you're bricked big time.

So this new SBF, Wanna go ahead and flash it, i think Im good to Go? my Boot loader is 30.03, still thinking about it, I'm full of What ifs ?? :D

If you follow the directions you will have no what ifs. You will be full of what nows!!

thanks! is there no benefit to the new bootloader the .zip brings? i think that is about the only difference. part of me thinks it would be better to keep my current bootloader anyway.

I don't know what benefit there is, but I can tell you this, according to my handy dandy trusty source, the problems that folks have had with soft-bricking before the full sbf release were due to the new bootloader. I'm still on the old one. Your call, though. We do have full sbf.

ok just sbf'd, all went well did a factory rest right from there, signed in and still have my launcher pro and bootstrap is still in the app drawer and astro, titanium backup, rom manager, pretty much everything but z4root not there? what did the market automatic install the apps i've downloaded?

I just hit the wireless tether and I do NOT have root so that is good I think!

Hmm... You shouldn't have your apps in your phone's memory if you sbf'd plus factory data reset. Odd.

is it better to do the factory reset, before o after the SBF?

after.

So for those who loaded this up, what are your findings? Anything leap out at you? Instances of instability for you that seems to be fixed?

Two things jumped out at me. The update seems faster that the 2.2. Maybe it's me, but everying seemed to "pop." Secondly, I had restored non-system apps and data and it all was fine except one. Launcher pro didn't like being restored, so I deleted it and reinstalled it starting afresh. I'm good now. Other than that all restored apps and data work fine.

umm now you have me worried why would the be there I just went through and deleted them all seems ok but now im worried!!!!!!

were they all there? or did they start coming back down from the market? if you are up and running you should be ok. just know that if you do run into any weird problems an easy way to cure it would be to do another factory rest to start fresh. just make note of any weird symptoms you may have and report back so we can try to help you if need be. ;)

sorry to have gotten you going. Can you check in settings>about phone and tell me what android version you are running? It'll either say 2.2 or 2.2.1

ok just used the update.zip method! i really didn't want the new bootloader, but i did want to keep my baseband so i had to compromise.

1. Got the TBH app.
2. DL'ed the update.zip.
3. Got the best ROM out there....APEX reinstalled.
4. Installed REVOlution.
5. Happy!

system version>version.2.3.320.mb810.verizon.en.us

Is there something that went wrong with the sbf? I mean the phone seems fine but now I'm afraid to do anything to it now! Is their something I can do to check it? should I download something from the market and do anything factory reset to see if it gets rid of it? I just went to phone files and deleted everything, and went to check my sd card and nothing is on it and that was before I got into deleting anything something is weird about the whole thing!

ohh sorry running 2.2.1

Yeah seemed everything was there but z4root was gone and had no root! Like it didn't download from market but like it never was taken off all the other apps

Just did another factory reset but before I did i downloaded flickie hd, then did the reset and sipped everything and ficlie wasn't in the app drawer but I went into files and hit "phone files" and there's like 6 files in there (dcim) says 1 file hit it and folder empty, the last file out of the 6 is update.zip and i hit it and it ask me to extract so I backed out? WTF!

Ok, the best way to do a factory reset is in a fully booted device. Go to

Menu/Settings/Privacy/FactoryDataReset

It will boot to the stock recovery and thoroughly wipe everything making you activate on boot. Now that is a clean slate :D

Some things you should know though, after you activate it wants you to sign into your Google account and if you do that it will auto install ALL your previous market apps. You need to SKIP the initial Google sign in and navigate to

Menu/Settings/Privacy

and you need to check the "back up my data" box, then UNcheck the "Automatic restore" box and finally UNcheck the "back up my data" box. From there you are free to go back home and sign in to your Google account or Market and make sure to NOT check the back up my data box after sign in.

That is the only way to get a fully clean slate. Automatic app restore is always checked by default and you have to perform those steps to stop the automatic re-installation of your apps.

Also the update.zip file you see is most likely the 810kb clockwork recovery update.zip. You should be leaving that alone for the bootstrap.

Thanks GMB, I think the update.zip showed backup after i did the factory reset! I havent even downloaded bootstrap yet so I don't know? ok downloaded rom manager back went to files and rom manger logo next to the 809kb file, did it just stay there i thought it got removed when i did the sbf and factory rest?

Man I'm just going to move ahead and I made a backup first thing and now going to get apex again! Thanks for the help guys it's running good so I'm very happy! Thanks to all that helped!

Shows fine for me but I am running his ROM :)

GMB

I loooove his ROM but I don't know why or maybe is just me, maybe I should try a re-flash, but I was running the non leak version , and it seemed snappier than the 2.3.320v, this version felt different, didn't like it as much as i like the non 2.3.320v :)

I want to make sure I understand what im doing here. I've never installed a leaked update. I went from 2.1 to 2.2 OTA. My bootloader is 30.03 (or is it30.30) any who I have the TBH app. So... do I first install the sbf on my phone or pc? Then after that can I download the leak straight from TBH as directions follow (format system, mount system)? Your responses will help save the whales!

I'm sorry But how do I Do that

Look HERE or it's in ROM Manager is probably the easiest way.

I never had a chance to try the non leak version so I can't comment. I will say that before the SBF I was running RX with an LPP overlay and after the SBF I have stuck with ADW. Normally I don't care for ADW but for some reason this time I got it set up exactly how I want it and overall the whole ROM seems smoother to me. I don't know if it is home launcher related or related to the SBF but i am very happy either way. :)

I'm here for you buddy. There are 2 ways to do this update. One is applying the SBF using your Windows PC with a program called RSDlite.4.8 or 4.9 The SBF itself doesn't install anywhere. You need to unzip it and point RSDlite to the resulting file.

You also have the option of downloading the update.zip format of the update from TBH and installing it with your device by booting into recovery, formatting system, mounting system, installing update, wiping data and cache.

If you are sure you have 30.03 bootloader already then you can do it either way you would like.

i succesfully updated with the zip file but am now trying to sbf my phone. problem is the sbf i downloaded seems to be corrupt! i tried unzipping it with both winzip and 7zip. any idea what happened?
