Wow, I have 5 brothers and not one has ever bought me something expensive like a smartphone, that's pretty cool of you!

I always think it's funny when people say Android is confusing or hard to use so they go with an iPhone. I've never used an iPhone but I'm a regular person (not an engineer or software tech or anything) and I've never had trouble figuring out my Android phones, they seem pretty simple to me.

Looks like the the EVO needs to get the frame rate up in the video recording arena. Hopefully it's just a software update away.

That concerns me a 'bit. I remember there being a framerate issue on the original EVO. Although I didn't mind it at the time, since I didn't shoot many videos, I started to shoot more videos with the Photon and really noticed a difference from the original EVO. Strangely enough, the Photon actually shot better videos than the original EVO, but the still photos were worse than the original EVO (especially low light).

That's a tough choice. Whichever is more intuitive of a location of course.

Personally I usually stick to Evo LTE subforum as it directly relates to the specific handset from which I can drill down for general info and technical info. I expect to get this information directly from the user base as they are more likely to tread in the subforum. I hope I'm making sense.
 
Back to that RAM consumed by Touch Wiz question asked somewhere in this thread.

I went directly to the SG3 subforum and posted this question. Took a while but finally got a response from the actual users of the International version of SG3 which has a quad core and 1 GB of RAM.



I'll copy for convenience.

Thank you, that's about right. I recall that the LTEvo would start with around 350 MB at load and then it would creep up from there - and I have no doubt that the same is true of TW.

My Swiftkey X is using 45 MB right now, I'm over 40 MB just in weather updates, the list goes on and on. Heck, with services, my dialer is over 40 MB.

It adds up in a hurry.

So, that pretty well establishes that the video in question - without lots apparently running - was already consuming 625 MB memory.

If the S4 version drops available ram down to around 680 for their setup, as it did for ours, then it validates my premise - the SGS3/S4 needs 2 GB of ram.

And many of us feel the LTEvo does, too.

And it has nothing to do with bloat - OEM overlays and modern apps are not getting any smaller. More features = more ram.

that is a tough choice..

i understand the need for better organization..
but it would not get the right traffic or enough traffic there..

people looking to get more info on a particular phone..
i would normally drill down to the phone in question and look in there.

question.. can a thread be located in two locations?

I say yes because being in the EVO 4G LTE thread, more people tend to be bias toward the LTEvo. Most people who come to this thread are those looking for information on the LTEvo, not the GS3. With it being elsewhere, it will give more people an opportunity to see both sides without the bias.
 
I love my HTC this is one of the best androids I've held in my hand but honestly how many ppl thing that the galaxy s3 is gonna be a lot better then this phone
 
I think this feels an awful lot like Evo vs Epic... and I never regretted getting the Evo despite the things the Epic does better.
 
I mean yea spec are better but not by much I just feel that evo is gonna get some nice updates n I don't wanna miss out on that inplus there might be some much more phones coming out so imma ride my evo like it was my ex girl friend lol
