I have a lg optimus V with backside rom on it and when i plug my cell phone into the computer it wont recognize it and the android storage screen wont come up

Did you install the drivers for the V from the LG site? Are you sure the USB port/cable are good?

Sometimes this happens to me. When it does I go to settings/applications/development. As fast as you can, turn the USB debugging mode off then on again. Assuming you have the proper drivers installed, this should fix the problem.

it makes a noise that it recognizes it but nothing shows up, i tried what u said andy but it didnt work and i have tried 2 computers and 2 different usb cables

Have you tried going to Start/Computer. Does the USB drive show up there.

Have you tried MacFett's suggestion yet. Sometimes a fresh set of drivers does the trick.

If not you might have to do a complete wipe and format in the recovery and install a fresh dowloaded BACKside ROM and Gapps.

I almost forgot: Try turning off the PC and plug phone in, then turn on PC.

i installed a new backside rom the newest one and didn't install gapps and the green theme wont work. do you think its because i don't have gapps???

I have installed BACKside (01252012) without Gapps and green machine worked fine. I did go back and flash gapps (after another complete wipe).

What kind of PC is it? If it's Windows, look in device manager for your phone. Make sure those drivers have loaded properly. You can try this driver, it's the one I use.

If you did a fresh install of the ROM and didn't include the Gapps you wouldn't have the market app. The theme should work.

Try doing a fresh install. Include the Gapps this time, but don't install the theme. After a couple of reboot's to tighten up the ROM, then go back to your recovery. Wipe just cache partition, and Dalvik cache. Install the theme.

I have the same problem except that I can click connect to computer on my phone but even after it says its connected it dosnt show up and itused to show up as a mass storage device but now nothing
and BTW I'm using an old Mac so I can't download drivers (used to work now it dosnt)
It also used to work on my xbox as mass storage so I'm thinking something internally is wrong with the phone
What can I do to fix it?

Before installing new drivers, you have to uninstall the old drivers on Windows. Driver corruption happens all the time (with all kinds of software), and the only fix is to uninstall the bad drivers first.

I have three computers at work that will not keep their touchscreen drivers intact. I have spent months trying to determine the issue to no avail. I have to manually uninstall the drivers, then reinstall them each time they stop working. And these aren't hacked together machines, they are complete POS systems using top of the line touchscreens (amazing a touchscreen for a PC still costs more than a netbook + touchscreen kit, </offtopic>).
