Root condemned cm7

Before I do anything then I might wait for your trimmed down version. I just know that with v3 (with my phone anyway) my phone was smokin. There was no hesitation at all with anything. I would be glad to help you test something. I have a spare phone I use for that very purpose.

I'll let you know when I have something ready then ;) Might be tonight... I just want to go over a few things first and don't want to get bitched at for not doing much on mother's day lol. I hate Hallmark holidays :p lol

I was about to install this on both our phones but it sounds like you've got a new version about to come out. I'm wondering if I ought to hold off..?

That also brings up a question.. Do you have to wipe with every new addition or can you install over the top?

The other version of this will be the themed version I call GRE (ghost rider edition) then I'm working on a stripped down version similar to the aosp roms that will not have all the cm stuff in it. If you like the cm options you'll be ok with this version without an update for a little bit :) (I think) lol. Most of the time the updates are flash overs but due to the changes going to 7.1 v6 needed a full wipe.

if a person wants to use clockwork, there is a setting to toggle signiture verification on.

Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to work. Whenever I toggle that setting it will not flash anything that Amon_RA will.

i know how to flash clockwork from rom manager. after that ,when you power of and enter recovery,or "boot into recovery for manual management" from rom manager, youre now in clockwork so you can use it to do wipes.

at this point, how do you restart Amons without deleteing the update.zip file?

Advanced menu
Reboot Recovery

It doesn't have to delete update.zip - that remains in place. It just starts Amon_RA without calling it to flash update.zip. (When you use ROM Manager to flash Clockwork, it starts Amon_RA and then automagically loads update.zip - it never replaces Amon_RA.)

Any reason not to use the latest version of gapps?

I haven't heard of any problems with it so I don't see why not. The only reason I didn't post them is because I haven't tested them myself and I haven't seen where they are listed on cm website. They still have the 3/7 as the latest.

wierd... i have done that in the past and it just goes back to clockwork. i even did it earlier today and it went back to clockwork(tho it didnt actually reboot, just went to a back screen, then clockwork was back). i did it just now and it worked? also i had to reflaSH clockwork to test it... when i booted into recovery the after reading this it was back to Amon.

in the past, clockwork has always stuck... everytime Amon came up it was flashing update.zip and going to clockwork. i had to delete update.zip to get amon back

another difference i notice now is that you can flash back to Amon via rom manager(flash alternate recovery) wich has never been there before. it used to say "no alternate available".

maybe something to do with this xtrRCMix? i had to download rom manager 3 times before it actually installed, and besides the power off prollem you mentioned,it doesnt seem to be reliable in the other modes either. if i try to reboot into recovery from the power off menu, sometimes it will reboot to recovery, sometimes it just reboots

guess ill restore my CCM7 backup before further testing of this rom manager business :D

I've been using the new one on GSB for a couple days now and haven't noticed any new weirdness. I think I'll take the plunge.

I just switched both our phones to Condemned from GSB. So far so good. There were only a few apps that gave errors when installing and only one that didn't move over to SD on the first try. :)

I'm hoping I can call this home for a while.

What are the best performance settings for this ROM?

My settings are:

Smartass
480/710
Jit - off
Compcache - 18%
Surface dithering - off
Allow purging of assets - on
Lock home in memory - on
Lock messaging app in memory - off
VM heap size - 16m

And it's fast.:D

Also I haven't used setcpu since gsb.

my wife has an Eris that I rooted & now trying to find a good ROM for her. I have a DX & an Ally & on those I can flash a ROM w/o being connected to a PC. can I do that with the Eris & if so how?

I'm probably one of the few if not the only that do everything on the phone without connecting to the computer.;):D

Alot of us are using Comdemned CM7 which is linked in the 1st post of this thread. Also Comdemned Soul (the dev) visits quite frequently with us.:D What I do is:

1. I use I/O file manager.
2. Download the rom and anything else needed with it.
3. After download completes go into the download folder and the rom and whatever else you downloaded should be in there.
4. Long press and select move.
5. Move to sd.
6. After it's moved go back into the root of the sd card and make sure it/they are there.
7. Boot into recovery and go from there.

Lets us know if you need anything else.:)

my settings are identicle to BCs. except i am still running setcpu, but im only running a screen off profile. 245/710 main,245/245 screen off. your phone may be sluggish and not wake up well with it this low,but mine isnt too bad. :D
