Root condemned cm7

my settings are identicle to BCs. except i am still running setcpu, but im only running a screen off profile. 245/710 main,245/245 screen off. your phone may be sluggish and not wake up well with it this low,but mine isnt too bad. :D

I run mine at 480/710, jit off, asset purging off, keep home in memory on. I use the on demand governor.

BC and Scotty. I haven't had a chance to flash and test the stripped rom yet.... someone else kept me busy running and visiting today... rather annoying to be honest. I'm going to probably flash it in the morning but I'll have it in dropbox too if you want to play with it. Right now its about 61mb but I think I'm going to be able to get it down another 10 still.

Lol. Hallmark Holidays? ? Lmao

Mothers day, father's day, Valentine's day, grandparents day etc lol. I also don't like holidays that consist of family gatherings or picnics lol... I'm not much of a social person. I would just assume stay home and not be bothered by that lol :)

Awesome! Looking fwd to it

It should be there now... I'm gonna go take a nap till about 2 now while the phone charges and flash when I get up. Gotta leave the house at 4 :) lol

So far CS everything will open but settings. I can open settings and then try to open cyanogenmod settings and then it will force close. Everything else in settings opens ok.

Yeah I noticed that was still there too... it shouldn't be in there as an option lol. I need to get that out still. :p

it kinda surprised me to still see it there, and i wasnt surprised when it didnt open :D

as usual its super smooth and extremely fast... with the exception of long pressing the screen to add somethin... its a couple seconds before the menu pops up,and even longer till the widget menu pops up after selecting it.

i also got several insufficient space errors and market FCs while it was trying to sync and download. however,i did forget to delete android secure, and i accidentally did the choose google apps thing during setup. i usually skip that and wait untill after.

the wallpaper caused me to hide behind couch when it first popped up  but its OK now,i aint skeert no more :D i havent had a chance to play with it a whole lot yet,but so far im diggin it. as i said, super smooth, app drawer opens and closes fast and smooth  i also noticed its 2.3.4,wich is pretty cool. i dont remember if gin tazz AOSP was that or 2.3.3... CCM7 is still 2.3.3,correct? CMs blog said 2.3.4 would be CM7.1

anxious to see what else you gots in store for us :D:)

I had no problems with the market and no fc's other than the cm setting. If you were surprised that it was there am I missing something.

its stripped of CM stuff,BC. dont need CM settings if no CM parts :D its sposed to be more of an AOSP rom, kinda like the gin tazz or OMGB :)

and yeah i think i may have accidentally confused my market, lol. its worked fine since the initial sync and apps download finished.

did you do it the normal way(rom and gapps at the same time)?

Oh didn't know. I never tried those roms. Yea I flashed it like I normally do.

so did i... i had been flashing rom, reboot, flash gapps up until v6

this and v6 both worked flashing normally. 4 and 5 may have worked too,but i didnt try em that way since what i was doin was working. v1 and v2 didnt work if i flashed em normally,so i stopped checkin at v3 ;)

on the roms, gin tazz was smooth at first and slowed down as time went on. OMGB i thot you had tried... i put a link up,but maybe you didnt. it was ok,lil bit of lag and not very polished. a really good start but not a finished product.

I'm probably one of the few if not the only that do everything on the phone without connecting to the computer.;):D

Alot of us are using Comdemned CM7 which is linked in the 1st post of this thread. Also Comdemned Soul (the dev) visits quite frequently with us.:D What I do is:

1. I use I/O file manager.
2. Download the rom and anything else needed with it.
3. After download completes go into the download folder and the rom and whatever else you downloaded should be in there.
4. Long press and select move.
5. Move to sd.
6. After it's moved go back into the root of the sd card and make sure it/they are there.
7. Boot into recovery and go from there.

Lets us know if you need anything else.:)
it automatically downloaded into the the "download" folder of the SD card but there isn't a root folder on the SD

The root of the SD card is not a folder, it is the top directory of the SD card itself. For example, if you have a download folder it would be located at SD Card/Download. You would just need to go up one level to reach the root of the SD card. If you put the ROM in a folder, the recovery will not find it and you won't be able to flash it. I hope this is clear. If not, let us know and we'll try again.

*slaps self* after I asked that I immediately wanted to erase it lol thanks tho

what's gapps & where do I get it from? #dontjudgeme

If you look at the link where you downloaded the ROM, you will see that there is also a link to download a zip file with Google apps - those are the gapps.

After you get the Condemned ROM file and the google apps zip file moved to the root directory of your SD card (as you discovered already, not a directory called "root", but the top directory of the SD card) then you are ready to install the ROM.

If you follow the instructions on the the "Rooting for Dummies" thread, it will give you just about everything that you need to know to root the phone and install the ROM. However, there is that one extra step. After you root, the instructions will have you restart the phone in Amon_RA Recovery to install the new ROM. You have to add an extra step or two. The steps will look something like this; I have added the extra steps in bold:

- Restart in Recovery
- Open the Backup/Restore Menu
- Nandroid backup - will save what you have now, just in case
- Return to the main menu
- Go to the Wipe menu
- Wipe data/factory reset
- Wipe Dalvik cache
- Return to the main menu
- Flash a zip from SD card
- choose the Condemned CM7 file (Condemned_CM7_V6.zip)
- Flash a zip from SD card
- choose the google apps zip file (gapps-gb-20110307-signed.zip or gapps-gb-20110503-signed.zip - either one is fine)

- Restart the phone

I'm using the new version of gapps from the GingerShedBread ROM website and it's working great!

There seem to be some new features in a couple of the programs. The main one I got excited about is the ability to put Google Maps in "relative direction mode" (for lack of a better term), where the direction you are facing is always "up," rather than North always being up, and the map rotates so you are always facing "forward" on the map, similar to the way it does it in Navigation mode.

Try moving the maps to New York City and see if you get 3D mode enabled.
