Root condemned cm7

I'm going to see what I can do... I've noticed V6 has the incoming call lag again now so I'm going to go through and see if it was something I messed up or if it's maybe a CM thing...

No rush on my account, but that will be beautiful. Perhaps I should just go back to version 5, though? That had incoming calls working ok?

V5 had better incoming call response. Correct. I did change a couple of things between 5 and 6 besides the update to 7.1 so I'm going to try adjusting those and see if it was one of those that dropped it off. It shouldn't have been but I still want to check.

Just wanted to note that I installed V5 for a while yesterday and incoming call response was fine. It's still a *little* on the wonky side. When the display is off, this is what I hear and see:

- start the call from my home phone. Phone's display is off.
- phone starts ringing in my ear
- at about ring number 2 or 3, the trackball starts flashing and the phone starts to vibrate, followed quickly by the ringtone
- the lockscreen flashes onto the screen. Not the call reception lockscreen, but the normal, I just pressed power on the phone lockscreen.
- finally, after another ring, I see the called ID with the rotary lockscreen to answer or reject the call.

This is on V5. As I noted before on V6, there were several rings before that last step, with a very brief, sub-second flash to the caller ID lockscreen before the call stopped ringing the handset and went to voicemail.

Right now I am running xtrSENSE, but I'll try out the next CCM7 version, either tomorrow or Monday. I'm travelling to run a marathon over the weekend and want my phone stable while I am gone, so it's either tomorrow or maybe Sunday night, depending on how I feel after the run.

It's just not being pushed through right away like it used to. It comes through just fine when I do a manual refresh but I shouldn't have to do that.

I'm actually using the newer gapps from the GSB site. Everything seems great with it but now I wonder if that's what's causing the gmail push to fail... Now it's acting a lot like the bug in the exchange email.

Nevermind. False alarm. I just noticed that my Sync Gmail box was somehow unchecked. :o Perhaps it's off by default with the new version of gapps..?

Anyway, the new gapps seems to be fine, since that was the only new issue I'd encountered.

As it turns out, gmail is not one of the apps that are in the gapps package. If you recall, you install gapps, facebook, search, voice, etc., after you start setting up the ROM. I usually skip the step to sign in to my google account during setup and log in to the market after the launcher appears, so that may be why gmail sets itself up to sync when I install, but it may be that when you sign in during the initial setup, Google sync, not seeing gmail, doesn't set it up until you manually go in and do so after installing gmail.

I noticed this same behavior in GSB when I used to sign in with my google account at initial sign-in.

I think you hit the nail on the head!

You're right... I forgot about that... sorry for the confusion :) lol

V6 is just great. Not one issue..well not with the Rom. Only hope the radio codex used for Tunein Radio can get incorporated in GB or CM Otherwise this is fabulous.

That reminds me. My wife listens to TuneIn Radio and was complaining that it cuts out after a while when the phone goes to sleep.

Any way to fix that, CS?

There is apparently an issue with a codex not being supported in CM7
CS is checking to see how this can be fixed. Really miss this App.

V7 is posted. I did my best so far on the incoming call response... It seems a lot better to me but still not perfect .... It's acceptable anyway (my phone was on my lap and as soon as I heard it ringing when I looked down the answer screen was there :) )... I also included the LauncherPro lag fix, changed the default wallpaper and resynced with CM. Comcache is also disabled now by default... I think it's a little smoother this way myself, jit is still off as well.... Oh yeah.. Tunin Radio works now also :)

I'm going to work on getting GRE together tonight and hopefully have it posted either late tonight or tomorrow evening. Then I'm going to look into the exchange mail and CIFS and see what I can come up with...

Hope you enjoy it :D

Hey, just a quick note that I was poking around in Conap's CFS kernel xda thread and saw this about CFS V9:

Removed cifs support and reverted to the linux toolchain for compiling. I think that these were the changes in V6 that caused some wifi and failed boot problems for some users. Nothing has been changed in wifi so I think this is what the problem was but for those that were having trouble you'll have to let me know.

I know that Conap tweaked the kernel for GB, but I wonder if he left the cifs support out for the GB kernel? Anyway, it may be worth asking him...

Is in the dropbox?

It's uploading there still ;)

I'm hoping to catch him on irc tonight and ask him about it. I'm not sure if he put it in for GB or not but I'll find out soon :)

Well, I'll be flashing this probably tonight, maybe tomorrow night. I'll let you know how things go.

Strange. I always hated Sense when I was running stock, but lately I've been running xtrSENSE (it's so damned compatible) and when I go back to GB I've grown so used to the Sense way that I start griping about "vanilla" now.

I may start doing a week to week switch - run xtrSENSE for a full week, then grab the latest CCM7 and run that for a week, until I upgrade this phone. My only problem is that when we are driving my wife cannot use my phone because it never looks the same from the last time she looked at it. It drives her nuts.

No problem.. I won't be offended if you choose to keep xtr on for a bit either.. It's a very reliable and excellent rom :)... Good luck this weekend BTW. and look on the bright side.. If she gets confused about it looking different all the time it's harder for her to find the names numbers and messages from your girlfriends :p lmao
