Root condemned cm7

I'm thinking about giving this ROM a try if GSB keeps giving me problems this week. I've been having the LauncherPro black screen issue a lot lately, and I've also had my phone slow down to being unusable at least once a day since the latest version came out.

Condemned, are you planning on releasing another update in the next few days? I don't want to flash v.4 and then have v.5 posted right after. Also, I noticed you have a flashable zip to relpace adw with launcher 2. If I wanted to replace adw with launcerpro, would I need something similar for this ROM or would I be fine just installing the launcherpro.apk in system/app and deleting adw?

BC or Scotty, are either of you using c2c with this ROM? Have you found flashing it with the ROM and gapps makes any difference in market performance compared to flashing after you install a few apps like doogald had suggested for GSB?

aww crap! i had typed a big response giving you peoples an earful for pickin on me when i wasnt around to defend myself, and had gotten half a reply to BCs tab prollem, and accidentally clicked on the x trying to switch back to that tab on my puter and deleted it  dammit! i had also made it a point to say that doogald is just as not right as the rest of you all,up and runnin 16 miles when he should be sleepin. :D im with yall,i get winded walkin 16 feet up the stairs :o;)

anyway, metl,im not using cache to cache. ill try and flash it and see if it makes any difference, but my phone is running very smoothly without it. as far as launcher pro,id think youd be fine to just use it from the market, but ill let CS answer it fo sho.

BC,if im understanding this correctly, all you gotta do to root one of them lil devils is install clockwork mod recovery and flash a rom. darn spiffy :D since youre allready rooted and got clockwork,it wont matter much to you.

it looks like the basic procedure is the same as it is with the eris, with the exception that CWM menus are a lil different(ive used it,am using it now as a matter of fact since its the only option right now for TB ),and you put the rom inside a folder in the tabs internal memory, instead of the root of your SD card. if youre downloading right to the tab,you can prolly just leave it in "downloads" and install it from there.

the other thing that is different is that if the rom file is in a .rar format, youll have to use something to open it... not sure how big a PITA that would be on the tab,or if youd be better off doin that on the PC,then moving it over. once opened youll just move the "update.zip" file that it contains to the tabs internal memory. the other file you wont do anything with.

i don think it matters,much,tho... if this is the vegan youre lookin to install: [ROM] VEGAn-TAB GingerEdition STABLE RC1 [UPDATED - 4/11] - xda-developers looks like the download is allready a .zip,so you shouldnt have to mess with it. yeah i just dowloaded it,and it is a .zip so you should be good to go.

there are a couple lil things mentioned in that thread, just make sure you do them:reboot after completeing the setup, and doublecheck to make sure you have CWM .08 to install it with, and make sure you do full wipes.

then you can just download flash player from the market. my impression is that you wont have to do the market fix or the flash player fix listed in the how to thread, but if you do its got links for the instructions well cross that bridge when we come to it :D

did you have some other questions about it?

I haven't used c2c in a long time.:)

Yea that is to bad.:D But that does simplify it and when I'm up to it I'mma going to give it a go.:) Thanks.;)

I haven't really used Launcher Pro a lot on this rom. But I have tried it some and saw no major issues with it. I was using it installed right from the market and it was left in data/app. If you were to want to use it on this rom I don't "think" you would have any major problems but seeing as I don't have much use with it I can't say for sure. If you were to want to delete ADW from system/app and replace it with LauncherPro that would be fine. That is all the script for adding Launcher2 with the zip does I just made it for ease for some people that are afraid to do things and would rather just have a flash that does it for them. To answer the question on the update... yes.. I can't say for certain how soon, but when I get the themed version ready for release I will be resyncing to source to make sure that both versions of the Rom are up to on most current version. I want to say that this will probably be in the next couple of days. Right now I'm trying to find a decent font color that isn't too extremely difficult to read on top of the pic in the notification background in the themed version. I really don't want to leave the white that the notifications display in but not much is being displayed well over that background

On C2C. I currently have 35 apps downloaded to my phone and have 105MB of free space. I have not recently tried flashing C2C on this rom after installing some apps, however, when I was using Tazz's rom and I flashed C2C after a few days of running the Rom, I didn't see where it made a difference compared to if it was flashed at the same time as the Rom and gapps. In theory an to my understanding it should have the same effect if it's flashed after a few apps are installed or along with the initial Rom flash. I could be completely wrong though... I'm really not the bright :p lol

If you do decide to give this Rom a try I hope you enjoy it. If you decide not to I also won't be offended.... maybe... ;) lol

Thanks for the quick reply, I'll wait it out a few days unless I somehow finish all my work for classes tomorrow early. I'll also let you know how launcherpro works when I install it. I like to keep it in system/app because it is less likely to be killed by the OS. I just wasn't sure if there was something special you had done that required some sort of flashing to be done instead. I understand the need for having something like that for those who don't feel comfortable messing with things.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to post here as well as xda.

Not a problem. Especially considering how quiet the xda thread is... it's kind of discouraging lol. There's been a lot of downloads and each release there's more downloads so I keep going. But a quiet thread makes you wonder... lol

i had also made it a point to say that doogald is just as not right as the rest of you all,up and runnin 16 miles when he should be sleepin.

Most Sundays I sleep in (which means I am up at maybe 7 am latest), but being that this was Easter Sunday, and we had family coming for dinner at 12:30, I figured I'd better get it done if I was going to do it.

Back on topic. I'm going to try this out tomorrow. I've been having strange issues with GSB and, much as I love it, want to try this out as one last try at CM7. I hope it works; there are some things about Froyo/GB that I really like.

im running condemned now and i dont see a big difference, and do the themes make any change besides look? I want to use one of the themes but there are so devilish looking :( you should make one without skulls that would look great

i like the orange in the notification bar. on the pull down,im a big fan of black/translucent(barely letting the pic underneath show thru). i know you got a lot of black and dark allready, but what about leaving the white part black, translucent under, and the notification writing in white or orange or yellow?

What kind of issues are you experiencing? I'd like to know so that if I can look into correcting it. Have you made any changes in CMSettings for CPU speeds or governors? Themes only change the look... Nothing else. Yes, most of my themes are a bit on the dark side some have said but that is my style. I have tried doing other themes but I can't keep the motivation and attention to it lol. The Cyan Dragon theme is probably the only one that doesn't have skulls in it including the themed version I'm working on for this rom. If you like one of my themes and would like to see it "skull-less" let me know which one and I'll see about changing it a little and remove them to see how it looks for you. My theory though is.... Everyone loves a little skull.... ;)

I'm recompiling SystemUI again and getting ready to move what I need to my phone to see how it looks with what I'm trying next... If I'm still not happy with it I'll give that a shot... or I might give it a shot anyway and see which looks better.. I like that idea. :)

I'm wondering if some of the issues you guys are seeing are something in the latest nightly and when Shed updates next things will improve. Shed is an awesome dev and though I've never used his Roms I've always heard good things about them and he has taught me a lot.

CS,

I just noticed your comment on an XDA thread on installing Linux on an Eris. What ever happened with that? I have Ubuntu on my desktop and think it would be bitchin to put it on my spare phone.:D

I almost had it working but then got busy with starting doing themes and I was doing a lot of testing for Tazz so I never finished lol.

mmkay this is a bit off topic, but the above comment got me to thinkin( ;)) i know metl doesnt need it,but for sh*ts and giggles,i downloaded CSs ADW to launcher2 .zip, copied launcher pro from my phone, pasted it to the sd card so i could get it to the PC,then replaced launcher 2 with the launcherpro .apk

now of course it aborted the install since the file wasnt signed  i searched a lil for how to sign files, and gave it a half ass try,but theres obviously some part of the command i dont understand or am missing. i said "eff it" and flashed clockwork via rom manager() and used that to flash my test zip since it doesnt care  it worked... now i have launcher pro in system/app :D

is there a non-confusing way for adb-challenged individuals to sign .zips? :o

I know there are others as well... but this is what I use to sign my zips. It's very simple to use... Just drag the zip into the window and hit sign lol.

[PC] PPCGeeks Android APK & Zip Signer - PPCGeeks

You can use that zip as a basis to replace adw with any launcher as well. Just replace Launcher2 with the apk for what you want just like you did Scotty. ;)

Well if you decide to start back I sure would be one to give it a go

I probably will try again but at this point I might just wait untill I get my upgrade and the Eris becomes my toy lol. As much as I love my Linux machine, it would be pretty cool to mess with it on my phone to IMO lol.

GSB has been great for me for the most part. My phone has never run faster or smoother on another ROM. The need to restart so often has just become an annoyance. I'm sure it will be fixed at some point, I just don't want to deal with it if I don't have to. BC and Scotty have been talking this ROM up, so I'll be trying this over Tazz's ROM, but I know Tazz does good work as well.
