Root condemned cm7

GSB has been great for me for the most part. My phone has never run faster or smoother on another ROM. The need to restart so often has just become an annoyance. I'm sure it will be fixed at some point, I just don't want to deal with it if I don't have to. BC and Scotty have been talking this ROM up, so I'll be trying this over Tazz's ROM, but I know Tazz does good work as well.

I hope you're as happy with it as these guys are :). And yes.. Tazz does do excellent work as well. I have learned a lot from the both of them as well as from Conap. They have all taught me a lot since I decided that I wanted to start doing more then flash roms and play around. I have learned a lot as well just from reading things throughout the xda forum, but a good amount of things were taught to me by them :). They are the reason I decided to learn to do Roms. One day they will move on to other phones and I don't want to be stuck on the Eris a little longer with Rom's that haven't been updated lol. And on the chance that I go to another phone that they aren't on.. I'd like to be able to do something there that they have done for me and this phone :)

That's why I have two.;)

I tried to get an extra for a dev phone off of ebay but I lost it  It went for $70.. Phone, charger, battery and case  Oh well... I'll just keep using my everyday phone as my dev phone.... Makes me be sure everything works right that way lol. I don't want to use it if it doesn't work :D I did get a new battery off of ebay... a 2600 mah extended battery with new back cover :D

that was totally easy, lol. drug my file into the box and it poped up right underneath the non-signed one. :D flashed it again witn Amon just to be sure.

the possiblities now are endless! well, maybe not quite all that, but it was pretty sweet nonetheless :p

i hope it works well for you,too,metl... its so smooth and fluid on my phone. im anxious for version 5 and the themed version

I told you it's easy :D lol

What kind of issues are you experiencing? I'd like to know so that if I can look into correcting it. Have you made any changes in CMSettings for CPU speeds or governors? Themes only change the look... Nothing else. Yes, most of my themes are a bit on the dark side some have said but that is my style. I have tried doing other themes but I can't keep the motivation and attention to it lol. The Cyan Dragon theme is probably the only one that doesn't have skulls in it including the themed version I'm working on for this rom. If you like one of my themes and would like to see it "skull-less" let me know which one and I'll see about changing it a little and remove them to see how it looks for you. My theory though is.... Everyone loves a little skull.... ;)

Im not saying its a bad rom, it works great i just dont think its much differenct then GSB, still good though. And i think all the themes look awesome but i dont wanna put it on my phone and have all my friends think im dark or whatever haha

i like it cause that lil bit of lag that drives me nuts and remains no matter how i try and set it up with GSB is not there in this rom.

your phone may be different,so run whichever one works better for you :)

Lol... Everyone that knows me knows I'm dark and some have even gone farther on what they call me. If i were to make something bright and happy they'd probably think the world was coming to an end  hahah

I'm wondering if some of the issues you guys are seeing are something in the latest nightly and when Shed updates next things will improve. Shed is an awesome dev and though I've never used his Roms I've always heard good things about them and he has taught me a lot.

These are the specific issues that I have with GSB; it's been the last few versions (well, the last few through 2.8):

- the market never notifies me of updates unless I specifically go into the app. I specifically went several days without going into the market, waiting to see if it ever would start giving me notifications, and it never did

- trying to install apps, or update apps, from the market will frequently fail on the first try, with an "insufficient storage space" error. There is plenty of space left, and the apps generally install on the second try without error.

- For that matter, the market will frequently think that it's still installing an app well after it is already installed.

- Titanium Backup scheduled backups frequently hang up in the middle of a batch. I have two schedules that run at just past midnight and at 3 am and will frequently find that Titanium has an ongoing notifications that the batch is some percentage complete. And that notification, because it is ongoing, will not clear.

- This is a very minor issue, but I have a license for LauncherPro Plus, and quite honestly I'd prefer that GSB not have LP installed as the default launcher, since I have to go look up the license codes when I go into LP.

- The Kindle app is very slow - it's laggy turning pages (which it is not with xtrROM, xtrSENSE, and I believe with CELB, though it's been a while since I ran CELB.)

- Had issues a few days ago when Tweetdeck was not automatically updating in the background. Not sure if that had anything to do with that Amazon EC2 downtime, which was the same day, though manual updates worked and I saw nothing from Tweetdeck that suggested the service was down.

Those are my issues with GSB - otherwise, it works great - and what I'll be looking at with this when I install.

Well.. So far I've had no problems installing apps and haven't had the "insufficient storage error" I don know that error as I have seen it before. I have had times where I didn't get any update notifications but then when I went to the market I suddenly got a notification that updates were available. I think I saw somewhere that some of these issues are reported as market bugs that google is working out and it's not a rom issue but I will look more into that. As far as the others.... I don't use Kindle or Tweetdeck but any input on these would be welcome :). As far as LauncherPro.... nothing against it, it's a nice launcher, but I'm trying to keep my ROM stock for the most part so ADW will always be default on the CM ROM. Yes... I did do a few things to it such as the font which I ended up removing and leaving stock and raised the volume levels (don't be alarmed by that... there is a zip to change it to stock in the OP on xda lol). The font will probably stay stock now but I havent decided for sure if I'll leave the sound raised or return it to stock in future releases. Please let me know your thoughts/concerns on the ROM when you get the chance... All input whether positive or negative is always welcome.

yesterday when i was messin with the launcher zip i was tryin to get rom manager to work so i could flash clockwork, and ended up having to delete the prokey and regular version and redownload. when i redownloaded it,i did get the "insufficient storage space" error, wich surprised me since upon initial setup it downloaded several apps from the market and did it just fine.

only thing that comes to mind is that i didnt delete the android_secure folder before applying 4 over 3.5. i wouldnt have thot it would matter for an update, but maybe i should have?

I always thought that vanilla Tazz was the most stable/ quickest rom, but its battery isnt nearly as good as GSB/ Condemned they should make a vanilla GSB tazz

I'm planning to try and post an update tonight along with the themed version and then I want to start testing the stripped version I'm working on with all the cm stuff removed...

You really shouldn't need to delete that folder for an update... I'm going to do some more research on the insufficient storage errors later tonight and see if I can find anything sufficient...

Ok, I am installed and running. The first install I ran I flashed c2c before the first boot, then went in through the setup, let it install the Google apps, etc. - it only installed a couple of my apps from my latest CM7 install, which is weird but ok. Then I installed Titanium Backup from the market - it failed, "insufficient storage space". Blah.

Then I remembered that I hadn't wiped .android_secure, so I went back and did that, started over from scratch (though I flashed c2c after I did the initial Google app install and Titanium install, rather than before the first boot) - and everything is working fine right now. Market apps are installing ok so far.

One thing that I wish CM7 would allow is to turn on WiFi during that initial setup. It would make things better IMO.

I agree with the wifi 100%. Especially considering that where I live isn't the greatest reception. I've thought about skipping the initial setup and turning on wifi and then doing the setup but haven't tried it myself yet.

Well... I almost have an update ready.. it should be posted sometime tonight. I gotta figure out why the lockscreen isn't working first  I turn the screen off but the lock screen isn't there when I turn the screen back on... Not sure yet what it is lol.

i have faith in you. but ill prolly be asleep when you get it figured out,ill downkload and flash first thing in the morning. bout the time you and bc are on your 3rd cups of coffee :D

Think you'll be up that early? 3rd cup for me is between 3 and 315 usually lol... The way things are going tonight though... I might be starting that pot in about half an hour :eek:
