Root condemned cm7

hmm,i seem to remember a certain forum member sayin this:

:D:p:eek::cool:

did you get your rom installed yet?

Lol... Little bit of a ball buster huh Scotty? ;) Not as bad as I've been at times though lol.

I might a little quieter tomorrow guys... tomorrow are the services and everything but if you have any concerns or anything come up please be sure to post them so I can go over them and see what I can work out for you...

I'll probably be around for coffee in the am this time too BC.

I think i have ADW, but not sure.. should I change it?

ADW is the default with this ROM. If you like it, I wouldn't change it. I think it's fine. I have a license to LauncherPro Plus myself, so I use that myself, but ADW is just fine.

If you're using my Rom you have ADW, Tazz's Rom is either ADW or Launcher2, Workshed's Rom is LauncherPro. Everyone really has their own preference. I personally don't have a problem with ADW. Launcher2 is very similar but has no extra settings or anything.. it is what you see and nothing more, it's very lightweight. LauncherPro is a nice launcher as well. I have used it some but not a whole lot.. to me it just didn't seem very smooth and it seemed to lag a little more but it's been updated some since then so I'm sure things have changed or a lot of people wouldn't like it lol. Go Launcher is another decent alternative. It has some really nice features built in and looks very promising IMO. The best thing to do if you think you want a different one is to try them out and see which one feels best for you. I have a zip you can flash from recovery for Launcher2 in my OP on xda and LauncherPro and Go Launcher can be downloaded from the market.

Right, that was with the custom font. This font is stock. I won't run with a non-stock font.

i know... i was just messin :D

i have adw ex and i have launcherproplus. i bought them both hoping i could get a transparent app drawer(adw) with the "cube" screen transition(launcherpro) but alas, neither has both. ADW has some different, yet still pretty cool screen transitions,so ive been using it.

ive always liked launcher pro, never had any troubles with it. simply using adw for the purely cosmetic app drawer. i do also like the way the launcher buttons look.

launcher pro is extremely themable and modifyable from what i understand, and has some different widgets that can be used with it. i may at some point reset everything up with it and see how i like it. been using ADW for a couple weeks exclusively so hopefully if there are any actual performance differences ill be able to see them.

never used launcher2 or golauncher, but theyve both got their fans, lol. ive heard good things about them as well. only other launcer ive ever used is stock GB/froyo and sense

oh... and i can make .zips too now if anyone needs em,lol :D

I'm trying to flash this to my wife's Eris. How do i? What's gapps?

Boot into recovery. Attach the phone to your comp and in recovery select the usb ms toggle option. on your computed when look on the SD Card of your phone and find the folder named ,/android_secure and delete it. Disable usb toggle on phone. Wipe data/factory reset. Wipe cache. Wipe Dalvik cache. Flash Rom. Flash gapps. Reboot phone. First boot can take up to 5 minutes... this is normal. Once booted touch the android and go through the setup process like normal. You will get a market updater notice to select the apps you want to install. select the ones you want or hit select all. Accept the market TOS and continue through. This is based on you having Amon-RA recovery image on your Eris. If you have CWR then someone will have to give you the specifics on mounting the usb toggle through recovery and everything as I'm not very familiar with CWR.. I've never used it. If you have any questions just ask and someone will help you along. I may not be able to be much help today but I'm sure someone will.

Gapps is the google app package which is not directly installed with the Rom. If you don't install gapps you will have no market, carhome, qoogle quick search, etc.

A little? I only have 2 cups left in the pot... Thanks for the thoughts today..

I need you to take a drive down to South Carolina sometime today and help me install a water heater under a house.;):D Haven't done that in some time. Don't want to do it but can't tell a regualar customer no.:)

Maybe I'll take a detour over to my great uncle's place while I'm down there... haven't seen him in close to 10 years:eek: Last I heard he was working at a golf course part time so he could play for free lol.

Thank you very much :) it's very much appreciated.

Looks like it's getting close to time to get ready to go... I'll try and check in with you guys later to make sure that no problems have come up and see how bnitty made out if he still was wanting to flash this. I'm sure you guys will help him out if he has any questions though.. Thanks again

if you experience a reboot when things try and install the market, reboot between flash rom and flash gapps,as ive added above :)

normally flashing gapps and the rom at the same time is fine, and most folks it works fine here. looked like a few of us had market issues, tho and installing gapps after a reboot seems to fix it. nothing wrong with flashing them at the same time,i just wanted to give a heads up in case you experienced the issue :)

The second pop tart kinda defeats the diet rocky mist don't it? :D

I've determined that the weird slowdowns I've been having were not caused by GSB since I had the same thing happen today. I guess my next step is go try uninstalling all of my apps one at a time to see if any of them are causing it.

My battery life has been really good thus far with this ROM. I did have some weird readings today, but that was during the slowdown problem. I'm about to switch LauncherPro for ADW. I'll update with how it performs in a bit.

Edit: CS, I think this app would be a nice addition to this ROM: http://www.androidcentral.com/android-quick-app-slayer I don't know for sure that you're a metal head, but there are indications.
