CONTEST: Kindle Fire Forum Contest!

Hope this doesn't qualify as a disqualifying post:

It is my birthday tomorrow (Nov. 15th); winning would be the awesomest birthday present I have received in a really really long time!

I'm looking forward to reading up on Magazines and News! Specifically with Pulse! My phone just aint cutting it!

Also, I'm aching to try out that speedy silky smooth browser!

Good luck everyone!

1.) I'm really excited for video streaming through Amazon Prime.

2.) After everything I've read on the Silk browser, I'm excited to see how it lives up to the hype.

1. I would use this piece of technology as a resource in my classroom for my third graders. I think this may help spark an interest in reading for some of my students who are struggling to learn to read or have limited interest in the subject.

2. A feature that I am looking forward with this device is the ability to access millions of books. The color illustrations are going to enhance the students enjoyment of the story and enrich their learning experience.

I think e-readers of this nature really should be utilized in schools especially at the elementary level where students are just starting to learn. Kids are fascinated with technology. My brother's lil son just loves picking up anyone's smart phone and trying to use it. But the speech readers are what would really be useful. Letting a student tap on a word to hear how it is pronounced would be really beneficial to kids just learning to read.

Do we get a bonus 3rd entry if we say we are most looking forward to checking out/reading the android forums on the Kindle Fire lol

1. Watching Movies and reading
2. Silk browser, Whispersync

I am also looking forward to the new apps developers will make for the kindle fire

What is Whispersync

What I am looking forward to most is trying LogMeIn or other remote software. As an IT consultant.. to have a tiny thing to carry around yet large enough to take remote (unlike the phone)... is stellar.

I do love the integration with Amazon services.. with that it's probably the first true competitor to Apple... things can only get better

LogMeIn would actually be pretty cool and usefully on the larger screens of tablets.

I hope the Kindle Fire gets rooted. I hope it won't lose functionality if it does though, like the ability to access your Prime account for features like streaming and renting books.

1. I am looking forward to the reading abilities of the kindle fire, especially since they finally allowed borrowing from libraries. It's going to be hard now with the distractions of angry birds, cut the rope, etc. all on the same electronic device. Must resist playing games and use it for reading mainly.

2. Videos that I can watch for free using my amazon prime account and my family's netflix account.

How does the borrowing from libraries work?

What is the communities thoughts on the chances of the Amazon silk browser being released as a stand alone app to the android marketplace?

Looking forward to seeing the prime video content. As far as features are concerned, i want to try out silk for myself

Really like the idea of a tablet WITHOUT a camera. I already have too many low grade lenses in my life.

Would anyone make a table with only a front facing camera? That could be kind-of useful.

I like that they thought about what the function of a tablet should be and then left out components that aren't need to fill those functions. Also excluding apps that require the use of those exclude functions is a good idea. It would limit the flood of complaints to amazon and developers over apps that aren't working. I do hope though that we have full access to the amazon and google market/app stores. A limited market/store with only hand picked apps would be bad.

1. looking forward to the new browser and any thing else that is new to try out.
2. Like the size and that it's color. Just something new to try out.

Thanks For great info on your Twitter and your podcasts. Can't wait for you new podcast to show up.

I would love to win this becasuse on Nov 15 is my birthday and this would be sweet to win.

Hey my birthday is on the 15th too hahahah Unfortunately for you though I am going to win lol :-P Hmmmmmmm, maybe they could award us both Kindle Fires as birthday presents :-D

Happy Birthday to us <:-P

(1) What app, game, magazine, newspaper, or other activity are you MOST looking forward to using on the Kindle Fire?
I am ALWAYS on Facebook so the app will be great for that. Streaming video and the ability to download movies for mobile use sounds great,

(2) What feature of the Kindle Fire excites you the most? The browser!! Can't wait to try Silk.

If you are using the official Facebook app you should checkout FriendCaster.

used to be a big fan of FAOTD, but the free app quality has dropped. And read a really sad article about the dev side of this policy. Bascially, there is nothing in it for the devs.

The quality of the apps offered for the FAOTD program is really hit or miss. I know there certainly have been days when I was like "are you serious"

I have seen those same articles and if they are true that I have to say what Amazon is doing is horrible. I can't see how a reseller can just give away a third party's product with no compensation.

I also don't like that the update process is extremely slow. The fact that some apps are major versions (going from v1 to v2) and not just incremental (v.1 to v.2) out of date is just pathetic.

It is disappointing to see they didn't go with Qualcomm's Marisol display. I hope Qualcomm will have the ability to mass produce this screens next year so we can start getting them in our portable devices (phones, tablets, etc)

(1) I'm hard pressed to pick a single app, as really the multitude of media options is the primary thing I like about the Kindle Fire. Reading books, magazines, newspapers, watching movies/TV, and sharing on social sites is what makes this a nice device. But having Netflix and a 7" screen are probably one of the apps I'd put up there as a big one (although Prime could be there too depending on how good the library is). I have a busy job and 3 kids so most of my "personal" time is the 2 hours of train riding a day, so access to media (granted, Netflix would require me to use my hotspot, but so be it) is a big thing.

(2) Honestly, the feature I like the most is the color. Most of the books on my current Kindle are technical books and color for the graphs and illustrations would be a nice improvement over the grayscale I currently have. I'll give up the readability of e-ink for that (and let my daughter have the e-ink Kindle as she just reads fiction).

The color display will also a very nice feature for comic book readers.

I was concerned about this as well. I have a nook, and I like the e ink and being able to read in the sunlight, without the glare. I am wondering how this would work. I see they have anti-glare screen protectors for it, but I am wondering how effective that would be.

Qualcomm's Marisol displays would have been the way to go here. Marisol gives us a color screen with all the anti-glare and battery saving benefits of an e ink display. It really is a shame Amazon went with a standard LCD display instead of the above :-(

Does the community think there will be Rom updates issued by Amazon to update the android OS it is based off of and if so how oten do you think those updates will come

1) I'd want to use Pulse (news reader) on my Kindle Fire! I think I just saw on Pulse's twitter that they optimized their app for the Fire. Plus, Kindles and reading go hand in hand.
2) I'm excited about seeing how it syncs up with the cloud. I love the idea and hope Amazon executed it well.

(1) I really like watching on Netflix and flash videos on this portable device.
(2) The feature that excites the most is the silk browser which should makes me browse the web faster.

  1. What app, game, magazine, newspaper, or other activity are you MOST looking forward to using on the Kindle Fire? Call me old fashion but, I'm really excited to read books on there! It'll save me space in my bag rather than buying all these books, that I've stuff in my backpack!
  2. What feature of the Kindle Fire excites you the most? The touch screen responses, I'm excited for the Kindle Fire to my first touch screen device!

1. I can't wait to play my favorite games..angry birds ...cut the rope ..dragon, fly..on on a larger screen. And reading all my favorite books the best way!

2. Having a real browser I love <3 Amazon!!

1) I just want to play RoboDefense! I don't know if that's even in the Amazon market.

1. I'd actually use it to read books, but I'd love to keep it around to utilize it as a spare XFinity remote
2. I'm always looking at new browsers, so Silk

1. the Nook app (kidding) -- actually Pulse or perhaps another reader; I can't stand reading news on a small phone screen
2. the lending feature; this might get me to sign up for Prime

1) I am looking to moving my kindle book reading to the Fire and watching unlimited tv shows and movies on it with my amazon prime account.

2) Definitely the silk browser.

1. Any/ALL Games definatly. Also ebooks and newspapers.

2. Right now, the best feature is the price, well for me anyway. I have very limited means, so I have to find a way to stretch my dollar and make it count.
