Conundrum!!!!!!!

Might make sense but the financial aspect points more towards Firefox than Chrome. A browser survey had Firefox at 43% as the most popular browser last month. Chrome & IE were at 22.4% and 27.5% respectively. Motorola may be in cahoots with Google but they're no fool when it comes to they're bottom dollar. Besides I prefer Firefox as well, it's an add-on haven.

linky: Browser Statistics

Those stats are _way_ off. You have to be careful about where the data is gathered as some traffic is shaped towards "tech centric" users who are going to favor FF or Chrome over IE.

How is it way off?

Dont do it. Something about the screen on those just isnt right. I got one and used it for a few weeks, it has strained my eye to the point of damaged vision. My left eyes vision has suffered for the last month since I got rid of it. My vision is actually blurry in my left eye. That thing is a real POS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:mad::mad:

I highly recommend that you go see a doctor. I have a Macbook Air and the screen is one of the very best in the 11 and 13" market. I have no eye strain whatsoever. The extra pixels are also really nice.

IE has the highest market share, usually close to 50%. You have to keep in mind there are 100s of thousands of home users that have never installed another browser (to them, IE = Browser = Web), and the thousand of Public Sector users (and some large Enterprises) who are running IE because it's easier for centralized management, and pushing out virtualized desktops, etc.

Here's the breakdown from 4 sources, as reported by Wikipedia:

Source: Usage share of web browsers - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

NetApps and StatCounter are both pretty good about a large sampling model.

Also another great source (Hitslink):

Microsoft Internet Explorer 57.08%
Firefox 22.81%
Chrome 9.98%
Safari 5.89%
Opera 2.23%

If we surveyed this board? Probably really close to the stats you posted if not _more_ in favor of non-IE browsers (I'd hazard a guess IE users on this board are like 5-10% :D )

If you want, I can use my flip a coin app to help you decide :) :)

you know its probably going to come to that :P

even though the dock and all those goodies look amazing, Im having a hard time deciding as well...i think it will be what ever i can get my hands on first.

Im a phone whore and I just watched the videos for both phones and the sense 2.0 won me over. Those features are more in tune with where im at with my mobility needs

Then its time to pony up for another netbook or maybe a tablet.

If you don't mind rooting you can find the G-tab from $279 to $349 around the web outlets...

If thats the route you go..come on over to xda. I am about 85% sure we are going to have Honeycomb on the gtab before its over (not bad considering the newer ones with honeycomb factory installed will probably run in excess of $650.00). If you want it to work in non-wi fi areas...skip it.

Wait for the newer more expensive ones i guess (gulp, dont like the data plans for these things).

Can you get the g-tab for that price without a contract?

Sorry, my post was confusing.

What i meant was i do not like buying data plans for tablets IN GENERAL.

Having said that, you are in luck, the Gtab is wi-fi only. No contract/data required.

Unfortunately the only thing its good for when you are away from a wi-fi area is to do list/calander/ms docs to go/watching movies/mp3s and angry birds...but i guess that kinda goes without saying.

Still working on getting the playstation/nintendo etc. emulator to work for myself but others have it up and running just fine (supposedly).

Cant say enough about the gtab though for the money, except that its viewing angle is ...well it has a netbook screen so the viewing angles can suck for tablet use, and it is awful out of the box. (pre-root). Its easy to root, (almost idiot proof) and super fast/super responsive ..and looks good from straight on.

If given a choice between Honeycomb on a tab or 2.2 on a lap top dock w firefox and citrix portals, i know which ill choose.

So where can you find it for <$300? Also I'm looking on ebay and people are saying things like unlocked, clean esn, and mentioning carriers.

Yikes.....they were as low as $279 to $349 in the early versions before a few software updates went out (and they got the bad reviews).

Now the darned things are a minimum $379 from staples online....(to be honest..their updates havent been THAT great)..they still need to be rooted..

Sorry for getting your hopes up and then dashing them (price wise)....

Viewsonic also has a couple other models called the "viewsonic 10" or "10s" etc..some of them probably DO have the 3g/carrier DATA plan going on. I would avoid those.

Edit: change staples online to office depot.

Well if it'll be able to run Honeycomb in the future $379 isn't bad considering Honeycomb tabs are going to be $700.

My advice....take an hour or two (or even a week or two) and read (lurk) around the android development subforum of the Gtab forum over at xda. I feel pretty sure honeycomb is coming after spending time there.

Cool I check it out. I have a computer in front of me all day anyway.

Do you guys deliver? To Florida that is...

I can provide beer, beach, boards and hot babes (well not my hot babe, you'll have to find your own :D )

OMG, hahaha, edit for a "Great minds ..." comment :D

If he has to find his own hot babes that's not providing them. So now it's down to beer, beach, and boards.
