Costco Nexus?

Right now, Razr seems to have dropped to 199 at Costco. And Bionic is even cheaper, 169. At that pricing, Razr is tempting to me. I wonder how long before Gnex gets down to 199 at Costco.

Just went to Costco today. They had nothing, and told me nothing besides the fact that it's probably coming the 15th/16th (I'm assuming 15th).

Other than the year extension with the generic type accessories and the $289.99 price tag does not thrill me.
Unless the accessories are Samsung specific like a Desktop Dock or Car Dock and the like I'll just go Verizon on line with my American Express and do it for the $249.99 I get with my loyalty discount.

I am hoping for a Costco/WA cool OE accessory package like the Bionic had though.

Exactly, the generic screen savers and case we got with my wife's stratosphere, are just going to sit in the junk drawer. Charger was OK, but not worth worth more than a couple bucks. At least it was considerably cheaper than Verizon. The Razr with docks was a great deal.

I just hope that Costco continues to receive additional shipments of the phone so it doesn't end up like the Bionic where they only had ~6 units at launch and didn't get their next 3 until a few days later...

Going back to the 2-year warranty question, is AMEX extending the warranty to two years on cell phones exclusive to Costco, or are you just referring to the standard buyer protection that AMEX offers for every purchase that can extend a warranty by up to a year.

I know about the buyer protection but was a little worried with respect to cell phones because we only pay a subsidized price, not full retail. Does that matter?

Hey everyone! Sorry, I haven't been able to respond as expediently as of late. Working two jobs in retail during the holidays, football at it's peak, and all the holiday gatherings have spread me kinda thin. But I'm here now!

YankeeDudeL-

One more for you- I got the Razr with the HD Dock bundle- When I bought it I was told that I'd be able to swap it for a Nex, within 90 days, if I like it better when it comes out. He also told me that after 14 days however, I would not be able to get any promotional bundle if it's available on the Nex. Does this ring true?

If the promotional bundle for the Nexus is a mail-in rebate, then that would be correct because you have to have a copy of the contract to send in with it. Your contract will still say that you purchased a RAZR.

First of all, thanks! It's great to have someone like you here to answer questions.

When you say exchange phones, you do mean RAZR for RAZR, right? I'd appreciate it if you did make sure, as while i'm certainly happy with the RAZR I think I would definitely take the opportunity to move to the Nexus. I did actually ask the kiosk rep if that was a possibility and they seemed to agree that I could do that, but since then it's been pretty unclear. Like you said, that was originally my intention and had thought the 90 day would allow an exchange for a Nexus when it released, but outside of the VZW promo being extended to you guys, it sounds like I may end up having to wait for the RAZR to update to get some ICS goodness. :(

That being said, I definitely enjoyed the buying process through you guys above the corporate store and basically told Sylvia at my office that we're getting all our phones through Costco now. :)

You're very welcome, and I'm glad to help, as both a WSE and as a member of the AF community.

I did mean RAZR to RAZR. You can exchange a phone for the SAME phone for up to 90 days from the original date of purchase due to any manufacturer's defects. We do our best to explain the policy when we go over the contract and customer letter, but with so much going on and any number of circumstances, it's easy to see how the actual terms are misconstrued. This is why we give everyone their own copy of each. See how professional that sounded? lol

If a WSE told you that they would exchange your RAZR for a Nexus, then I would ensure with him or her that they will do so. Ya never know.

Will Costco honor a NE2 discount? (I still have a $50 credit).

Cheers, Carl.

We are unable to honor NE2 credits at Costco as they can only be applied at VZW corporate stores. However, our prices and included accessories almost always exceed the discount, and usually by quite a distinguishable margin.

I asked them that question this afternoon and they assured me they do. :)

I'm afraid you may have been given the wrong information. Please see above.

If you purchase with your American Express @ Costco it add a year.

Correct, when you purchase your phone with a Costco American Express card, your warranty will be extended for a second year.

Hi guys, long time lurker here, figured I'd try and help out also. Like Yankee, I'm a WSE for Wireless Advocates at Costco. Regarding the 90 return policy, it begins from the original date of purchase. From my experience, each Costco has their own rules for exchanging the phone. Some will let you exchange for a different model during the 90 days while others may not. During the first 14 days you can return/exchange for any model with no issues at all. After that, it just depends on that particular Costco/kiosk and how they do it.

The 90 return policy covers all hardware defects. If the phone is damaged physically, Costco doesn't cover that and will most likely not take it back.

As far as I know, there is no 2 year warranty extension at Costco. You have a 1 year manufacturer warranty, which you can use if your 90 day return/exchange window has passed by calling the carrier (in this case VZW).

I'll try to answer everything to the best of my ability and will try to get back to questions as soon as I can. Hopefully with me here also, I can take some of the load off Yankee :D FYI, like everyone else, I want this phone really badly too! :p

Great to have you here! Yes, help shouldering this load would be terrific, especially since I don't frequent this forum all too often. And welcome to AF!

I think it's fair to say a lot has been learned since the Bionic launch. We had 16 RAZRs on launch, and I expect we'll have plenty on the GNex launch. That reminds me, I've been informed that the official launch for the GNex will be

TOMORROW!!!!!!!

Will Costco make me activate it there? I am going to skip out of work for about 1/2hrnto be there at 10am.

Does the Verizon part Costco usually open the same time?

Maybe it's just because I'm a swell guy and I give them info all the time.. (also that I've helped them close a good 5 customers who were about to walk in the past) but my costco wireless guys have hooked me up.

Tomorrow I'm going to return my razr for a nexus. This razr was originally a bionic. The bionic was originally a charge. I'm way past my 90 days lol but they've been resetting my 90 days every time I exchange a phone.

By plenty, do you think there'll be enough to last until early evening? That's what I'm really worried about... Thanks!

All we have to do is go over the paperwork with you, you're free to leave after that. And yes, We are open when Costco opens at 10 am. :)

I've heard it could range between stores (not sure what the range will be) but some will be receiving more than others due to higher traffic. Could be anywhere between 6-16. We got 6 Bionics at launch and 16 RAZRS so i'm just going off of that. I would call your Costco in the morning at 10am to find out.

I'm actually over this phone...going to wait and see how many bugs and things come out with it. Take a good long look at the screen at a VZW store. And than, maybe next week or the week after, after the hype, and if its that much better than the Razr, work with my local store for an exchange....after all I am member GD!! :)

Its official, we are getting 9 of them at my costco, says the expected arrival is the 16th. Thats always wrong though.

West Homestead Costco here in the Burgh had 3 at 2:00. They said it'd be no problem to exchange my Razr, but due to the supply they wouldn't hold one.

Good news and bad news. :-/

I'm over it...checked out the Nexus today at VZW for about 30 mins. Side by side with my Razr and I have to say its not what I expected. I was hoping for better colors, better contrast, a better screen, faster, smooth, etc. With the exception of the Nexus having a higher resolution the Razr seems to equal the Nexus in each way....in fact for somethings the Razr's screen was slightly better than the Nexus and faster when using live wallpapers. I guess if you are into shooting lots of pictures than the Nexus is the way to go...but for me, I will be retaining the Razr until the next gen of Nexus comes out.
