Costco Nexus?

You have 90 days to return the phone. I'm pretty sure that after 14 days they can't restore your upgrade...however they will sell you another phone at upgrade price. I've had a thunderbolt, charge and now a bionic on the same upgrade from costco. And I have till mid december to return the bionic so I'll be returning it for a Nexus...(and hopefully my last exchange). The only problem with the home delivery thing is not having a phone for a couple days till it gets delivered.

Yes, this is correct. You can't however return it and then go to Verizon for an upgrade afterwords. Should have been more clear.

Yup, you need to be a member to do anything there. They also only take Amex credit cards (take all debit cards or cash though). They're pretty strict about sharing cards here too...they don't like it if you're using someone else's card when they aren't with you.

Whoa! Time out!! What do you mean you have till mid December to exchange your Bionic? I got a Charge on July 6. Returned and exchanged for a Bionic on the 89th day, Oct 3. I don't believe the 90 days starts again from Oct 3 till say Jan 2. Does it? I want the Galaxy Nexus too but plan on selling my Bionic plus the Costco accesories and then buying the G Nexus at retail. Will Wireless Advocates at Costco actually allow you to do yet another exchange AFTER 90 days from the original purchase?

No, you can use return/exchange in 90 days only once at Costco, not any more than that under the same contract.

That's what I assumed as well. Just curious how Neutronbomb is able to start and exchange a Thunderbolt, Charge and then Bionic. I guess you can do all that within 90 days if WA allows it. But why is s/he waiting till mid December for an exchange and not a retail purchase since that date is well past 90 days from original purchase? Or maybe s/he has upgrades available on a family plan.

Nice! Hopefully you will enjoy the stay. What area will you be moving to?

Near LA. My daughter is into acting and has an agent and a manager and has already starred in a short film. We are moving for her career. She absolutely loves acting and being on camera.

We've exchanged my wife's Charge at Costco as well and while chatting with the service rep, he said that 90 days is from the original purchase date and you are allowed up to 3 returns/exchanges during the period.

Talked to the Costco folks today and the "bonus pack" is going to be a car charger, screen protector and a leather case. The bonus pack, get to keep existing plan with unlimited data and they will honor the discounts that I currently enjoy = sweet deal. :)

If that's the case ill be dissapointed. Car charger=$3 shipped. Screen protector=pack of 3 for $2. Leather case=$10 depending on quality maybe even less.

Yea I was hoping for more of a dock/car dock bonus thing like the Bionic. Costco always gives a car charger, case and screen protector with all phones. Nothing special if that's the case.

Pretty sure you have to be done with your 2 year contract to upgrade with Costco. I have my NE2 up and they said I wasn't available for the upgrade price, I showed them that I have two upgrades and they said that I needed to be out of my contract to be eligible.

Also, these phones are NOT being sold from Costco, they are a third party retailer who leases the Kiosk from Costco so I am not sure if they are all the same. Still a great deal from them as well. They have a great return policy but if you return a phone after the 14 days (they allow that there) you get money back but lose your upgrade.

Maybe it depends on the Costco location but the few that I have been to let you upgrade at 20 months. This is when you're officially able to upgrade without an early upgrade fee and when your NE2 (RIP) becomes available. Also, it isn't impossible to get Verizon to allow eligibility for an upgrade. I've heard from a Costco employee of people successfully doing this. From what I remember NE2s are not honored by Costco though.

Hey everyone! I'm the member in question that works for Costco so I suppose I should start addressing these myself. lol And as a similar thread was such a big hit in the Bionic forum, I'll have to keep it strong here as well. ;)

Costco is great for anyone upgrading because not only do they tend to sell the phone for slightly cheaper, but they charge you tax on the upgrade price rather than the pre-subsidized price of the phone. Most retailers, like Best Buy and directly from the carrier will tax the full amount.

Example: Pretend the Galaxy Nexus is $249 with contract and $579 without. At Costco, they will only charge you tax on the $249 purchase. At Best Buy or through the carrier, they will tax you on the full $579 even though you're only paying $249 for the phone.

Now I can only say this for certain about Costco in California, but I'd imagine it's the same elsewhere.

That is actually Verizon's doing. We also sell AT&T which taxes the warehouse price (the price before the IRC or instant rebate code is applied), and T-Mobile which taxes the entire price of the phone.

Can someone explain to me how purchasing phones from retailers works? I have a VZ plan that I don't plan on changing. I'm grandfathered in to unlimited data, etc. Can I still buy a phone from Costco? Do they accept my available upgrades from Verizon or would I have to start a brand new VZ contract?

You will not lose your grandfathered data by upgrading through Costco. We will not make any changes to your plan, just extend the contract for 24 months.

I'm guessing people at Costco can't upgrade you early like how Verizon store managers can?

We can only do qualified upgrades. NE2s and annual upgrades must be done at a VZW corporate store. And even if you have a NE2 credit, we're still gonna beat the price, plus give you accessories for free. ;)

Verizon lets you upgrade your phone 20 months into the contract, which we can do at our kiosk.

Now, the question I always kept getting in the Bionic's forum was about the return policy, no matter how many times I answered it. So let's just go ahead and open that can of worms. lol

The return policy is you have 14 days to exchange your phone for a diff one or go back to your old phone and get your upgrade back. After 14 days, that upgrade is lost. You can get your money back, but not your upgrade. If you have a defect in your phone, Costco gives you 90 days to exchange the phone for the SAME phone.

This is where I hear, "But my cousin's roommate sat next to a guy on a bus who read on a forum that this guy was able to do it." Yes, it does happen. Generally, it's because the person is having probs with a phone and we no longer carry that phone. Are there some kiosks out there that just don't give a darn? Sure. But none of our carriers or Costco is going to give you a new phone every 3 months. lol

Aight, so there you have it. I'm sure there's plenty of questions, so go ahead and let them fly. I'll answer them as quickly as I can. Yes, even if you ask the same questions over and over again. lol

Hey all - just wanted to share that Costco appears to be getting the nexus. The three kiosk reps I talked to the other day commented that the 10th looks to be the expected arrival date and they aren't sure if there is a bionic-type bundle deal happening. They commented the RAZR looks to be having such a deal and they all seemed more jazzed over that phone. Anyone know of Costco availability for sure? Right around the corner!

Oh yeah, the phone. lol

The leaked pic is true. The $289.99 is the warehouse price, before an IRC is applied. Now, I don't know if there is an accessory bundle involved as it's not been confirmed to us. If there is, expect that price to stay the same. If not, I'd expect the price to be $50 less, but I can't say for sure. Also, I don't have a confirmed date, but hopefully should in a day or two.

So I got a response to my PM from YankeeDudeL, who works for Costco. It is as follows:

Oh, I did want to clear something up. Initially it was going to be Home Delivery only, but it appears that we'll have it in store after all. However, the HTC Rezound will be Home Delivery.

I wanted to clear up that last paragraph. I'm a WSE or Wireless Sales Expert. I work for Wireless Advocates, a company based out of Seattle, WA. We operate the phone kiosks inside of Costco and Staples (you can also find us at PXs on numerous Army bases and, recently, Marine Corps camps). The phones themselves are Costco's inventory. You are buying your phone from Costco, not WA. Your plan is still through your carrier.

Hope I've cleared up some of the questions. Please feel free to ask anything you like, and if I did miss something, don't hold back asking again. :)

THANKS YANKEE. I remember you from the Bionic thread and you helped a ton. I am very interested in buying the Gnex thru Costco seeing as the Bionic bundle was incredible. Keep us posted.

From what I've gathered, I wouldn't expect the GNex this week or next. If it was we'd have seen it in our inventory lists. However, that doesn't necessarily mean it'll be at Costco the same time as Verizon. The HTC Rezound is out now, but we still don't sell it (though we will).

Thanks, YankeeDudeL! You answered a few questions that I had been looking for credible answers to. You seem to be a credible source and I thank you for your time and willingness to share your knowledge with the rest of us anxious Android nuts/Costco fans. :)

Hi YankeeDudeL,

I sent a PM but should have posted here.

If I re-new my contract @ Costco can they do so keeping my company discount and unlimited data in tact?
Are there scenerios where they cannot?

We would also love to see you over at the Galaxy Nexus pre-release thread to hear wheat you hear.

Now that we're a few days away, any update on the Costco price and/or accessory bundle?

Got my wife the Stratosphere for $30($150 at Verizon at the time), and the accessory bundle. I hope to see a deal like this on the Nexus as well. Accessories are nice, but as others said, not worth much.
