Root CPU overclock app settings for the Prevail

New personal benchmark record of 2011 for CTMod3.4

I flashed kato's kernel for ctmod
Set it at 825 with smartassv2
Min 120
And shut the screen off didn't mess with it pretty much all day. At the end of the day ran it hard then was able to bump it to 900 but lost data2sd
Reflashed kk 2.4 and good to go

It's just your cpu. Don't feel bad because you're not the only one that can't run above 800MHz.

From what I understand, computer chip manufacturers don't make individual chips at different speeds, they make a batch of identical chips, they test each one individually to see how it does. Then depending on how it performs, it's sorted out into its different speeds. One chip may run fine at 850mhz, but the next one may only hit 825mhz, even though they were made exactly the same. But they can't sell that many different speeds of chip, so they round them all down to the closest stable performance point (or even lower, depending on supply and demand). Our chips are rated for 800 mhz, yours was probably close to it but still passed. Luck of the draw i suppose.

OH,I was! They're both based off Kato's OC'ed kernel.
Actually, I use the same settings for CTMod and CM7.

I was having trouble with overclocking. So many settings on CPU Master Pro. So, I got
looking around and found a couple lists that explain and breaks down how each scaling setting works. Now knowing what each setting can do, I find it much easier to try out different settings to find a balance between performance and good battery life.
Here is the first one. It is a little older, but does have good insight and pros and cons which I found nice.

I was running the scaling at Lionheart and the GPU control at sio when I ran my last benchmark last night. I'm currently running CM7 Kato Kernel 0.4 sd-ext, Hroark's Adreno update, and a MDPI version of the Black Funk theme from XDA also. I am also currently experimenting with a few build prop tweaks too.
This is how I feel when I'm tweaking my phone and things don't go right, especially figuring out the best overclock settings. LOL!!!!
Yes it is I'm currently running rose setting Bloodoodawn has a good description on how to do this I was a newbie too but got it done. I will locate the link for you but I'm a new member so don't know if it'll let me post it

Don't worry. Dais doesn't have his Prevail any longer. It was stolen.
As for setting it as init.d script. Using Voltage control, open the menu, select the save as boot settings and select the init.d setting. You're done.

I have a Galaxy Prevail and it's rooted. I have the Voltage Control app. I want to know how to use it. The app is very confusing. Can someone tell me how to operate the app?

Well first you need a kernel the will overclock. CTMOd has one already and CM7 has one that can be added.
Once you have the proper kernel, you just open up Voltage control and where it says Max, try turning it up slowly. Most devices will let you overclock to 900MHz while some will even go all the way up tp 946MHz. You can leave the Min set at 300MHZ or try turning it down to 220MHz.
You can also adjust the I/O. I usually set mine to SIO while others use NOOP or DEADLINE. Test them to see which works best for your phone. There are tutorials available in the link that will explain what each setting does.

All you gotta do is tap the settings menu for the phone. When it pops up it'll give you the option to save as boot settings. Select the option that says " init.d script.
