Help CPW branded handsets and ICS

Yeah that's right.

That's unlucky, I've actually never had to have a phone replaced!

Yeah I had some really bad luck, 1st one, home button stopped working, 2nd one had call quality issues, 3rd one kept rebooting all the time, 4th one was fine and had it ever since. I got mine as an Orange upgrade but from Phones 4U like I said so it's unbranded :)

Mine used to reboot all the time on 2.3.4, but when I upgraded to 2.3.5 that stopped.

Official through Kies.. although it turns out I upgraded to 2.3.4 and not 2.3.5, so it must've been 2.3.3 that was playing up.

Oh right, yeah probably, I hear people complaining about 2.3.3 a lot.

this is confusing, i got my phone upgraded from t-mobile uk over website and its csc is I9100CPWKH1. please correct me if wrong but it seems that people that got their phone from car phone warehouse don't get cpw branded software like slatyford.

Your CSC shows CPW which is CarPhone Warehouse branded firmware is installed on your handset.

yes but my phone was not from cpw, another poster on this thread who did get their phone from there does not have cpw firmware. that's the point i'm making.

Got bored of waiting for Samsung so I rooted and installed an AOKP ICS build. Very fast, very stable, very pleased :D

I had no idea about this, bought a SGS2 yesterday from CPW and as told it was straight from Samsung with no messing but that now seems to be untrue from reading this thread. I'm going to be annoyed if I do have to wait longer to get the ICS update and especially if it does come with CPW branding. I had a Desire before and rooted but was hoping to not have to root my SGS2 quite yet

As a matter of interest... where did your phone come from?

i upgraded to the sgs2 through internet on my t-mobile account.

So, direct with T-Mobile on their website and not through a 3rd party, i.e. Phones4U etc:?

Have you got a link to the site you used and I will look into it.

Any news about the CPW update yet? I bought mine from them last year and wasn't expecting to have to wait for updates. Lesson learnt. Will try Phones4U next time...
