Custom (3rd Party) ROM: Revolution. Pros and Cons

The paid app has a different layout, its faster and has more features. You can get the paid app for free on the XDA thread, the market one is like a donate version.

I may still update to Revolution even in light of all this going on
Any ideas where the link on the XDA thread is to the paid Kitchen app?

just installed the FuguTweaks mod from the kitchen. not sure if it's just wishful thinking, and always thought the phone was fast, but it seems extra lighteningly quick since adding this, with instant page loading. nice.....

Upgraded to this ROM, very happy with it. Now if only I can stop playing with the phone I may get some battery life out of it. :)

Looking forward to this. Sadly it looks if it will have to be a full wipe rom. :(

I had a go with Sicopat, but now back on Revolution, as I didnt see much difference performance and battery wise, but Revolution is much more easier to modify with the kitchen app, and it has some very nice themes, so I'm back on it now.

Just updated my kernel to SiyahKernel v1.7, so see how this goes with it.
:)

I will no doubt try many roms in the future but at the moment, i think it will have to be a seriously good one for me not to keep going back to Revolution

version 2.7 2.3.5 ready in next few hrs........... wooop woop

Buts its notgoing to be JKay ready just yet. He is going to do it with a stock theme (but with a battery %age mod) and a fixed extended power menu.

I would guess when JKays themes do start rolling out, it will just be a matter of installing them onto this version. I shouldnt think it would need a newer version of revolution would it?

i think that's the case.
it's a full wipe and start again job. but apparently 'cos it's 2.3.5 it has to be.

Personally I don't mind wiping as it doesn't take too long to reinstall everything with titanium. Although it is possible to go to 2.3.5 without a wipe. I had no problem flashing Villain 3.0 without doing a wipe.

I've never upgraded the ROM itself via the Kitchen app before. I assume it downloads the .zip file. Any ideas where it puts it?

I dont particularly want to download it this way over wifi. More chance of it going wrong. I've tried downloading it from here but I cant seem to connect. (All you lot downloading I suppose!!)

Downloading as I write this. I've never used the pro app before so I'm not sure where it will save. I think the free one saved it in downloads on the internal sd. That was supposed to auto flash after downloading but I had to do it manually through cwm.Hope the pro app does it automatically as I can't keep skiving off work.

I'm downloading it now too! :D

Doing it manually though. I assume its just a standard "install zip from sd card" type of CWM installation?

Yes thats right. I've installed, everything seems fine :D just wait for Jkay themes now.

What kernel are you going to use with it butty? Are you going to stick with the one on the rom?

I suppose I'll be using ninphetimine or Siyah so I can have my BLN back!

Just flashed and everything seems smooth and quick. I was going to give siyah a try as I could never get it work on villain so I'm going to take the opportunity to see what its about.

Any idea what the dual core script mod does? Apart from save battery, I got that bit but was wondering how.

I get a circle with a diagonal line through it in the notification bar now.
Any ideas what this means?

EDIT: it was no signal. Strange! On there until I rebooted.
