Root Custom Boot Animation Trouble

LoucheBag

Lurker
I have a boot animation that i would like to make as my primary. But when i use root explorer to past the boot animation into the system\media\ folder it says there is not enough room. I am using a Incredible. Any suggestions?

Yes i did but im not sure if they were the proper ones. I have seen a couple of different combination of permissions. But i dont see how that would affect how much space the phone has to offer.

is the bootanimation file in that folder? cause my animation is in system/customise/resource I know it moves in different roms ... all my recent roms it has been there... I am running evo hybrid roms mostly though... just do a search with root explorer for bootanimation and it will tell you where it is located

You were right. I did find an animation in that folder with the name VZM_Bootanimation. However placing the .zip into that folder has no affect on the overall outcome of the boot animation. I even changed the name to VZM_Bootanimation and game it all the permissions and it still had no affect.

Actually after i changed the permissions of the .zip I checked the file before i restarted the phone and found that the file undid all my permissions editing. Im assuming thats why the animation is not showing during start up. Anyone know a way around that.

You literally might not have enough room in that folder. Try deleting a few wallpapers, they should be located in the same folder as your boot animation.

Make sure you're naming it VZW_bootanimation. The way you listed it above isn't correct. Then move the old one out to a temporary folder of your choosing until you reboot and verify the new boot anny.

All this talk of boot animations lately has me wanting to change mine now lol. I've found the bootanimation.zip in root explorer, do I delete that and move my custom one in? I've never done this before so noob gloves on, please :)

Hey man, I got in ahead of you by a few seconds on my post. Move the old one out until you verify your new one. If you have any issues, you can move the old one back. If not, you can delete it.

Holy shit...Im totally dyslectic. Didnt even realize that i used a "M" instead of a "W" in the file name. Works perfectly now. Good shit guys thanks.
