Help Custom rom draining my battery?

Rarewolf

Android Expert
I recently got ctmod yesterday.
And my battery didnt seem to drain as fast as it does now.
Did installing a new rom cause this?

I know it only started with CTMOD. But, go through all your apps and check your update and notification settings.

Not sure about some of the newer kernels, but it simplifies things that you are not using sd-ext at this time. Maybe try to figure out the battery problem before you start doing that to simplify troubleshooting and minimize the variables.

The freeze is a great idea for apps that you want to use often enough to keep installed, but are sneaky juice stealers. Maps is a good example.

Many other memory management techniques are discussed in other threads on this forum.

Try out a Free version of an app that does a lot of it for you if you don't want to: Juice Defender.

My guess is that something else has changed besides just flashing CTMOD. Have not used it lately, but it used to be great on battery life.

Definitely, try the older kernel that does not use sd-ext as data.

Your battery stats could still be reading the original ROM battery information. Check out the market for an app that erases the current stats and can reset them. Do as it says in the instructions and see if it helps any.

you should probably give it a few days after flash. ctmod seemed to kill my battery quickly right after flashing. after four days of regular use and two complete cycles (drain til dead, charge fully) it worked itself out. now i get around 30 hours from a charge. great rom.

From 100 to 77 already.
It hasnt been THAT long since I charged it! XP
This is horrible

If worse comes to worse, you could always flash back to stock for a few days ..see how a few charging cycles go..see if your problem dissapears or continues..or re flash CTMod..and do a full wipe..get rid of all your apps..see how the ROM does with just what it comes with..then one by one start reinstalling all your apps to try and narrow it down to a single renigade app going crazy in the background...I have also heard good things about Juice Defender..I have personally never tried it, but always hear people talking about it

same here but i like tinkering with all the settings and just taking the apps down from the source instead of stopping them from collecting data.
thats just me though
but ima try letting it charge for a few cycles. it was kinda working...
been gettting a steadily longer batt. life.
