Gingerbreak worked (verified w/"root checker" app)
installed busybox (su asked to grant permissions)
installed "IMAGE GUI APP"
flashed VM670NH_recovery.img

turned phone off
rebooted to recovery (home + vol dwn + pwr)

I see all the options for recovery but when every I press any button besides the "search" button it shows a "hat w/ a symbol that looks like refresh underneath it"

nothing happens.

I press the "button" again and it just goes to the main menu.

idk maybe I'm missing something here.

any assistance would be greatly appreciated

What button are you using? Volume rockers navigate and camera button selects

I tried
menu
home
back
power
camera

^^^^^ give me the picture of the hat with a refresh looking symbol behind it
and if i press it again then it just goes back to the main menu

search just refreshes the main menu

Home/camera is to select
Back key is to go back, volume buttons go up and down. If you can't get out of the logo, press Power.
Don't hold power.

yeah something is def wrong here...

I know I probably sound illiterate here but I'm not lol... well I hope not

I might make a vid so that no one thinks I'm crazy :D

EDIT:
ok so I was recording a vid to show what the problem was, and as I was pressing menu & home it would make the selection bar go up / down, so I just started pressing Menu in a row and then at the bottom of the screen it said "back menu button enabled" and then the "power button" worked for selections... idk what was going on

EDIT x2:
so after I flashed and rebooted, and I had to go back into recovery to flash a "fix"
it was the same issue, had to sit here and constantly press menu then home until "back menu button enabled" popped up on the bottom of the screen and then everything started working again.

If you hit anything other than the camera button to make a selection in the VM670NH recovery you will get the hat image. Just hit the same button again to get you back to the recovery menu screen. Then hit the camera button to make selections.
If this doesn't work re-download the recovery and check the MD5 sum with AFV(Android File Verifier) from the market.
Then install from a terminal emulator (market) with these shell commands:
su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/brecovery.img

Note: Rename BobZohme recovery to brecovery.img for ease of typing in command. If not, type in exactly as it's spelled on the sd card.
Hit the enter key after each line.
When you type in su for the first time and hit the enter key Superuser will request permission, allow, then go to the menu and select "Toggle soft keyboard". Finish the last line. If you got now errors and you now have a # Type in this:
reboot recovery
after hiting the enter key it will reboot to your recovery. Camera button is the selection button.

thank you very much for the time you took to write this... I haven't tried it yet tho...

"camera" gives me the hat also and brings me back

honestly all I do is just hit the menu button about 15-20x's in a row and then that message will pop up at the bottom of the screen and all is well lol...
