Root CWM beta WORKING!

might have just tried too soon after inserting the card, you gotta give it a minute to search the thing for errors and media, then you can access the external card. untill then itll act like its not even mounted

I've ran into that too, using CWM for Samsung Galaxy Reverb (VM) and this CWM.
It's just become normal for me, I just rename the backups to today's date.
 
the clock in alot of newer phones relies solely on network time, it doesnt keep track on power down making it impossible to get proper time in cwm. wish i could fix that. i have toyed with the idea of making it just number them or give you a naming option but havent gotten around to it
 
I'm using android terminal emulator and after typing su then enter I get root@android:/ #

I tried typing

dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery

and then pressing enter and it returns invalid file name or directory.

The file is on the root of the SD card and is renamed recovery.img

What am I doing wrong?

Your recovery.img is probably just on the wrong sdcard. Try putting it in the root of the other one.
 
Thanks David. I figured it out last night but you were right either way. CWM mod is running smoothly. Didn't hang up during backup :) thanks junkie2100 for future reference where on the phone is the stock recovery image stored?
 
umm... well, once you install cwm the stock recovery image is stored nowhere lol. the recovery partition itself is the only copy and if you write over it with a custom recovery then its gone. thats why we post them up normally and if at all possible convert updates to cwm flashable format as they come out to avoid forcing people to switch back to the useless stock recovery
 
and yea sorry i been kinda missing for a while but basically the problem you were having was that it was defaulting to the internal sd or something, you woulda had to have done /storage/sdcard1/recovery.img or possibly sdcard0 or something along those lines to access the external card properly from terminal

yea there are various adb commands, dont have them on hand, if you wanna go that route do some research on google thats how i figured it out
 
Well I was going to try this out and flash a custom ROM. But I ran into a problem before i even started. ADB won't recognize my phone properly -.-. It will start the shell and connect with the phone, but once I try to actually do anything it says "error: device not found". I've tried with debugging on and off, and with it in software connection and software install states, and with it fully on and with it in bootloader. I've also tried it with ZTE's driver, and with the generic driver from google. I've even tried like 4 different USB ports (two 3.0 and two 2.0). I've been screwing with this for 5 hours now lol.

Can you guys think of anything?
