So I was following the Ascend Customization Guide.

Downloaded CWM, followed instructions to download to my phone.

Ran the adb for windows, fastboot for windows, and recovery for windows. All finished and I unplugged phone from computer and took out battery for 10 seconds.

Now I tried to fastboot by pressing up instead of down(as told) and I dont have a black screen with green text.

Mine says

"Firmware update
Step 1/2

Unpacking

(progress bar, but its empty)

And then a warning sign and it says update failed.

Im confused did the CWM not work then.

I can still turn my phone on, I already tried.

Did it work or not>???

quickiest and easiest way to install CWM is to dl Rom Manager for the market. Once installed open up Rom manager (RM) and press the 'Flash Clockworkmod Recovery (CWM). This will download CWM to your phone. Once that is done, press the flash CWM again and it will then install the current support version of CWM.

Im having issue after issue.

So I got the CWM screen up, and did an additional back up. Thanks to a youtube vid.

Now Im currently trying to download those two stupid cm6 files, and one of them keeps saying download has expired please try again.

I got the Google one and the second link downloaded.

Now I cant get the first link to download.

I have ROM Manager, Titanium Backup (did it), downloaded those 2/3 files. Did the CWM. I've tried following the instructions, AND I JUST CANT CATCH A DAMN BREAK.

Can anyone explain why its not letting me download the other file for some reason?

Download em to your computer and then copy em to your sdcard. If you insist on trying to download em from the phone, enable wifi n connect to a wifi network. If you're on metro, you really need to enable wifi or do it from a pc or u will continue to time out.

Reason is, apps are small in size, most no larger than 5MB at most, most are barely 1MB. A ROM is on avg 60 - 70MB. Which on a computer is nothing, but on a phone data connection esp 1x its huge.

I was doing on a computer but it was just a site error I suppose because it ended up saying it was a site error after I tried a few times then five minutes later I got it to work.

So, now, to add the files to my SDCard, so I just mount the USB when I choose to add/delete from phone on my phone, and then what?

Your sd card should open in a window on your computer and you just drag and drop your files into it. Or did i read your question wrong?

No, I was just making sure I had it right.

Now for some reason it is write protected and I cant add gapps. but i have 2.2

you have to enable usb storage!! slide the notification bar open, press the usb notification, turn on usb storage.

what other version?

I cant add my sdcard back, its deleted. I created a file on my computer of it , but lo and behold. i cant put it back on my phone because its WRITE PROTECTED.

F*** this, F*** google and to hell with the phone.

How do I just get it back to normal?

this is too much issues for a little update!!!!

TBH its not the phone or the update, its you. Do you have a cardreader? either usb, external, or builtin? If so just take out your sdcard, put it in the adapter that should have came with it n insert it into the card reader and into the pc.

May try just taking the sdcard out n reboot, then put it back in.

I cant even get the SDCard out.

I open the slot, and it doesnt pop out, i push it doesnt move, how am I suppose to get it out??

And no, I dont think I do have one of those.

Ever since I put the update on, the disk has been write protected and I cant get my SD Card back

You need a lil bit of a finger/thumbnail or knife or other thin object to push it in just a bit so it pops out. Its easier to get out with the battery cover off.

You can flash back to stock through fast boot. So your card is not registering in the phone? Did you force it in backwards? Just asking.

No, because I have a lot of things on the SD card.

When I did the update, I copied it all into a new folder just in case something stupid happened, I would still have all of my memory from before.

If it was in backwards I dont think that I would have been able to A) do the update, B) save pictures, that i can view from my SD card, and C) have backed up my contacts to my SD card prior to this.

Amongst other things.

Im thinking if I just get it back to stock (maybe) it won't be write protected. Is that possible?

Yes, just find the how to flash back to stock thread. There is a file there that you flash from your comp with you phone in fast boot. Have tried installing the drivers to your comp, that will take away the write protect. I misread your comment, from my understanding you could not view your card within the phone, my mistake.

So, my best bet would be to flash it back to stock and try again in your opinion?

Im not even concerned about having the 2.2, I just want my contacts and such.

Once I get my SD card back together, I also backed it up on Titanium backup.

So I should have all apps and contacts and EVERYTHING, as soon as I get this damn sd card un-write protected , lol.

So you have tried installing the drivers? Yes flashing back to stock will put your phone back to how it was out of the box. Anything you have on your sd will still be there.
