Thanks for the suggestion. Tried it out and worked for about 10 seconds before FC'ing the gallery app

I just started to notice a bit of odd behavior. When using the internet browser (like browsing these forums right now) if my screen dims (set at 15sec timeoit so it doesn't take long) and I press to keep it awake, there is some odd discoloration at the point of impact with my finger. Could this be tearing? Not really sure how I could possibly demonstrate this....

Been running this since this am. So far so good. The camera and camcorder are both working.
Has anyone else noticed that the kernal is overclocked a little. With setcpu it is maxing out at 1113.

It definitely appears to be overcocked slightly. Its very responsive and doesn't run hot or drain battery excessively. This is a winner for me. Just wish my bluetooth car kit (parrot) would connect. Beggers can't be choosers.

This ROM is a lot less RC and a lot more Beta. I'm not saying it has not made great progress, or it's not going to improve. Just saying it's mislabeled with the number of issues it still has. I'll come back to it again in another release or two.

I was having fun with this until I found out you can't copy and paste in the email app..
Sorry but I'm going back to sky raider, sense elements spoiled me.

Has anyone successfully installed htc_ime? I've run the zip with ROM manager but after the phone boots up, there is nothing there.

I think I installed this? Not sure... when I installed the default inc keyboard on cm6 test 8 there were two files that I had to install... I think one of them was htc_ime, and I think it was a .apk, not a zip. Try unzipping the file on your computer, maybe there's a .apk in there. (inb4 I'm completely wrong).

The built in wi-fi hotspot works. Im posting this connected to my phone with WPA encryption :)

So far it has been pretty stable. I have only had one reboot while using an app. I tried to get it to do it again using the same app but it hasn't rebooted anymore.

Im getting pretty good battery life so far as well. I have setcpu throttling the speed way down when the screen is off to help save battery life. While it doesn't match what i was getting from frankenrom with a hydra kernal its still way better than what i was getting with test 8.

I have....make sure to download the HTC IME for Froyo...then unzip the file and install both apks: clicker and HTC IME. ;)

The built in USB tether also works :) Im posting this usb tethered to my phone. It connects on my netbook running Linux Mint 9 with no extra setup.

Anyone know of a way to get Visual Voice Mail working on this ROM? I got my hands on APKs from both the original Sense setup, as well as the Droid APK. One of them shows up in the Drawer (the same APK that is available on Market), but for whatever reason when I open it I get a "your phone already has this capability, please use that version" error.

From what I remember with removing the HTC Messaging app from Sense, it's required for using VVM; should I try throwing that APK into the phone as well? I'm sure there's a point where the framework changes would make this impossible...

There has to be a way to get it functioning, I'm just not sure how. I set up Google Voice for now, but honestly that seems like a cop out.

Do you have both installed? If so, that might be the problem - they could be reporting that they are the same app, causing collisions. I would suggest removing the htc one.

wasn't thrilled with it. I liked and disliked all the options in the various settings menus. It was responsive and worked fairly well. I didn't like the overall feel of it for some reason and honestly I can't figure out why because I am currently using Skyraider 2.5.2 (with Hydra overclock Kernel #1) which essentially has the same UI. Skyraider recognizes internal memory and the camera works like the stock camera meaning I have access to all the settings unlike with CM6 RC3. There are parts of CM6 I would like. For instance the built in tethering options from the N1. I would love to have that and the ability to make changes to the look of the notification bar from settings though not all of the settings seem to work. Also I really like the Hydra Kernel because it really extends my battery. With these custom roms I use my phone a lot more because I am always trying something different. The Hydra's let me do that quickly without using half my battery for about anything. Also it seems that if I put it in sleep or whatever you want to call it I don't use battery at all or well over the course of hours I use single digit percentages with the screen off. It is freaking awesome. I wasn't able to load it to CM6 it just messed it up. I honestly don't remember whether it was a problem of never loading or if it was a problem of stability I tried so many things yesterday I can't remember which this was but. I want to like CM6. I really see why he has the kind of reputation he has because it was a powerful ROM it just wasn't quite right on the Incredible yet.

I just went back through to check, I think the actual apps I have are:
VVMStub.apk (from a Droid) and
VVM.apk which is apparently the same as what is found on the market. I'm trying to recall where I acquired it (from some link I had found) but I'm at work and not on my personal PC.

Maybe it's not the Market version, as I think the Market version is 1.0.19 and the version on my phone supposedly is 1.0.21... Hrm.

I'm just curious if *anyone* has gotten VVM working.

-- Also, not sure how I *can* remove them. I know I have S-OFF and the terminal emulator, but I don't have adb access right now... I think I'd have to unmount/remount to gain write access to /system/ first. Hrm.

Turns out VVMStub.apk is the higher version one. I gotta figure out how to take it out while the phone is on...

I also wish hydra kernals worked with cm6. I was using the ocuv kernal with frankenrom and was getting some unbelievably good battery life.
Until they do I found that if you use setcpu and make a profile to throttle the cpu down while the screen is off it helps alot. Its worth the tinkering to enjoy some vanilla froyo :p

I actually was able to figure this out. Believe it or not, the apk from the Droid X works. Here's how I got it working:

1)You need to remove the 2 apks you have installed in adb shell (i.e. rm /system/app/VVM.apk , do the same for VVMStub.apk)

2)Go to the following URL and download the Droid X Vvm apk:
http://www.chadhaney.com/droidXDefault/
This will download defaulted as a .zip file. You will need to change it manually to a .apk extension

3)Install this apk on your Incredible. I pushed it directly to my system/app folder using adb. You may also be able to drop it on your memory card and install it using Astro

Good luck, lmk how it works. It looks different than the stock Incredible VVM UI, but it works well. Took me a lot of searching to find something that works.

Damn, you beat me to the punch on this one. I ended up doing the same thing (after ADBing trial and error of VVM packages). I second that said file works... though it didn't download as a .zip for me. Maybe I ganked it from a different spot, but if was definitely from a thread on droidxforums.com that mentioned the above site.

Either way, now I have to decide if I want VZW VVM or if I want to keep it setup to use Google Voice as it is now.

Edit -- it seems to sync fine but wont download the voicemail for listening. I'm going to have to check this more after work.

I think I'll stick with it.

Just wanna say THANKS to the devs of this ROM. I DL'ed it last night and am very happy with it. Some bugs are to be expected (but purchased the Premium ROM Manager to be able to check for updates, etc) ... Beautiful UI...very slick and sexi :)

yeah, i noticed that too...I, personally, see lots of performance (and 'looks') improvements as compared to SkyRaider 2.5.2

Battery life is below average even after resetting stats. Also couldn't live with the keyboard but installed HTC_IME_keyboard and all is well. I must have been living under a rock, this is the first I'd heard about it. Only issues I have is no Hulu and the internal storage thing. It's getting close enough now, I'm sticking with it unless other problems surface.

I fixed permissions via ROM Manager right off the bat, didn't even wait to test anything. Also completely wiped data/cache and restored apps only with Titanium for everything except messaging so I could get my texts back. Little extra work to set everything up but worth it IMO to avoid issues.

I got it to play but also had the very slow audio. It sort of sounded demonic lol.

not sure if it will work in CM6, but the way i fixed that in skyraider 2.5 was to change the stagefright.enable-http line to =false in /system/build.prop.

i.e., change it from this:

media.stagefright.enable-http=true

to this

media.stagefright.enable-http=false

fixed the demonic voices for me...this was after i reverted adrynalyne's audio fix, too. not sure if cm6 already has that built in...
