Root cyanogen

ok, so first of all, i have rom manager with clockworkmod and made two backup roms, i want to install cyanogen, i have full root. in the pre-instalation of the rom after downloading if i check wipe data and cache it wont delete my other backup roms right?

Thanks, i was wondering. i just got done installing it on my evo. the layout looks like the original android (not froyo). is it suppose to look like that, or do i need all of the new updates? if so how do i get them on a rooted cyanogen?

The latest stable CM release is 6.x.x, which is based on the Android 2.2 (Froyo) source code. Are you perhaps comparing it with HTC's Sense-enabled version?

The top offering should be the latest stable release, so you should be good. As is probably obvious from my profile opposite, I'm not familiar with the EVO and only going by my experience with CM 6.1.1 on my own Desire Z. What Mod version and Build number are displayed in Settings/About phone, as a matter of interest?

No, I loaded rom manager and pressed downloads and then cyanogen mod, im guessing its the most up to date.
I just looked in rom manager - the (current) stable version is 6.1.2
It does look pre - froyo, but you can dress that up with tons of mods.

Im running CM7 nightlys (found at bottom of rom managers downloads)
it is not stable yet... its based off of gingerbread and is more feature rich.
As far as I know, the only issues with the beta are no gps.. (navigation) no 4G or HDMI
If any of those are an issue, I would wait for the stable release. I stay with it cause its fast as heck and even in beta... has less problems for me than any other rom... It will be top dog when it's done ;)
