Whole procedure was as easy as could be, except for two parts.
I ran z4root a few times and even though it said it rooted my phone MyBackup Root refused to agree. Solution was to download MyBackup free version, limited to 30days but I only needed it for 1.
The ZIP file i downloaded and extracted did not contain fastboot.exe. Quick google search got it though.
Every other step was as it was written!
Thanks again for the 2.2 update, 1.6 was really beginning to bug me!

Instructions to install ROM with Fastboot:
1. Before you start, make sure you backup all your data by installing the z4root.1.3.0.apk file onto your phone, then open it and choose 'Permanent Root'. Your phone will root and reboot. Then go to the Market and install 'MyBackup Root', open it and do a backup of your apps and personal data (contacts, sms, call log etc.) Once this is done, go to Settings>SD Card and Phone Storage>Unmount SD Card, a notification in the notification bar should appear saying 'SD Card safe to remove'. Remove the battery cover and remove the SD card and store it in a safe place.

Instructions to install CyanogenMod:
Now you want to download this file: Flashing CyanogenMod.zip and extract it to a folder called 'Android' (without the quotes '') on the C: drive (you'll probably need to make this folder yourself.
