@nicomoo this is the "crack" the other thread about Cyanogen Mod 7 thread. and its a ROM lol.
and its faster than 2.2. just test it out yourself =D

well Fastboot mode has no logo or anything. just plug it in your pc and wait?
 
I've done everything as in the tutorial (used europe open), pressed launch update and it said this:

[R&D Test Tools Log File]

20:09:52 : Launching SW update
20:09:52 : Unpacking KDZ
20:09:54 : KDZ file extraced
20:09:54 : Extract file error
20:09:56 : ===FINISHED===

try it again with the carphone updater
 
I got a couple of questions before I attempt to upgrade. (I'm a noob)

1. What is flashing and how do you flash fastboot?
2. Will this upgrade erase all my data?
3. Will all the highscores/achievements, etc. on my games get resetted?
4. Is it worth getting this upgrade or should I wait a little longer?

Please answer and thanks for taking your time to read my post :)

What is flashing?

  • Flashing Firmware refers to the microprograms present on ROM (Read Only Memory) modules, which contain low-level (e.g., hexadecimal, machine code) software. They enable the device on which they are present to take stock of its capabilities and to render those capabilities functional.

How do you flash fastboot?

  • See page 1 of this thread

Will it erase your data and your gamescores?

  • Yes, unless you back up your data, about gamescores, they'll be gone , and you will have to reinstall your games

Is it worth it?

  • Yes, but i'd recommend you to use the CM7 'cause this CM6 it's no longer being developed, though it's pretty much useful

(My computer is slow). + how do I flash fastboot? Btw, I live in Canada so do I use the CPWH KDZ Updater or Europe? I have an English version but do I need to use those two or can I use the English version instead? That's all I need to know. For now.

in the CM7 thread dudeman1996 made a bat file to automatically install the ROM onto the phone. so you only need to download the updater, and the drivers from LG for your OS (XP or 7) i used the carphone warehouse updater , i live in mexico, so am guessing that one will work for you too.

For "Windows XP Users download this driver, extract the contents anywhere (e.g. desktop), right-click on the 'android_usb.inf' file and click 'Install'." How do I install the android_usb.inf file? It says "you are attempting to open a file of type 'System File' (.sys) and some other stuff then it says "Windows cannot open this file". What do I do?

Where do I get the bat file?
 
One last question for now, will all my Wi-Fi data get erased too? and is there a way to backup and restore it? Because I have a lot of Wi-Fi places or whatever you call them. and will all my apps from my Links2SD be erased?

I just used that to backup my stuff but the apps I linked to the SD have an error. I think it was for the data files only. and when I back everything up will my phone be almost exactly the way it was before I upgrade to 2.2?

I have all my apps on the SD card, and when I back them up it restores them with no problem.. When you backup data, you have an option to backup Android settings. That should backup all your settings that you setup in the settings :)
 
I'm stuck on step 2. Extract the .zip file you downloaded to your computer (e.g. your desktop). Open the folder and install MSXML 4.0 SP3 Parser (msxml.msi).
