CyanogenMod-6 for Hero V6.0.0 - RC1

i just updated to the 8/29 nightly last night. before this, i was just using the original .zip. the lockscreen lag is gone and the phone is faster than ever. I did have some issues with gmaps/navi working prior to the 8/29 but it appears that the gps is working as it should.

BTW, could someone point me in the direction of the nightlies? the link i had was showing 8/29 as the newest one

I had been running fresh 2.3.3 for quite a while and liked it a lot. Updated to 2.4.0 and it seemed to help on speed. I finally decided to take the plunge on this- I don't know if I can go back to fresh. This is awesome. Anyone on the fence about it should definitely try it out. I have had a couple of minor issues, but not enough to get me to go back. I can't wait for the final.

Do you still need to do the battery tweek if I install the newest version? Seems to run fine without but I wasn't sure.

No, you don't need to install the battery tweak.

You can go to any rom you want, just do a full wipe and nandroid first before you flash something new
 
I've been on Zen's ROM for a while now, does anyone know if the Browser supports flash now? Thats one of the many reasons I went back to Zen's Sense ROM, it has 10.1 flash in it, not working FULLY but admittedly better than the stock browser in CM8/Nightlies.
 
any idea how to change the notification color back to black? (when you get a text and it shows the first few words of it in the notification bar) Just flashed the 9/5 nightly and my notifications are now lime green. i went into the settings and set it to what seems like should be black, but its staying green

if you changed the settings, you will probably have to reboot for those changes to happen

According to some advice and after some testing with a few guys in IRC, we came up with a fix that seems to work, and no one can figure out why really.

Make a nandroid of CM6, flash a 2.1 ROM with working GPS, or nandroid to one. Boot it up and get a GPS lock to make sure it works, now simply nandroid back to your CM6 and your GPS should work.

Don't ask how this works, we have yet to figure it out, but so far it has worked for everyone that has tried it.

I really don't think you need to flash a sense rom to get the gps working now. Play with the places app, map app and Nav app until your correct location is locked. Then the the gps should be fine;)

I don't use flash at all, so give me something I can check flash on, ie: something that works on Zen

My navigation seems to be working now, but Waze is not. Anyone here using Waze and got it working?
 
What advantages would I have using JIT on this ROM? Also what exactly are "nightlies" and again what advantage would I see using them? I DL'd RC1 and other than a few minor quirks, I really like it so far over all other ROMs I've used to date.

JIT can do different things for different phones (good and bad, constant reboots or a speed boost), just have to try and see if your phone benifits from JIT.

Nightlies are the most recent rom test for the CM6 CDMA Hero. Just have to flash a nightly and see if YOU see a difference. 907 is out and the buildbot usually puts out the next nightly around (for me EST) 9 pm

Do a nandroid before flashing a new nightly just in case;)
 
So I'm finally going to bite the bullet and give this a try even though I'm very pleased with Fresh 2.4.0.

Just a couple questions (I'm running the latest nightly build):
1. What bugs still exist that I will notice (Camera? GPS?)
2. Should I flash an overclock kernel? If so, where? How adversely does it affect battery life?
3. Running the stock kernel, is battery life just as good as 2.1?

1. Not many bugs, camera issue fixed. GPS works fine (just have to play with it a little)

2.Try an oc'ed kernel, it will help with the battery life http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=756774 I would try the stable kernels if you want GPS to work

3. Stock kernel better than 2.1 in my opinion for battery life

If you want better battery life try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=762283 Some have said 40 hours of battery life with the tweak

Nandroid first before flashing;)
